Feingold: Obama Responsible For Loss Of Public Option
Commented Dec 20, 2009 at 22:44:05 in Politics
“This bill is not Health Insurance reform; it is simply a gift to the Health Insurance Industry. Forcing people to buy into a system that very few like and most agree is robbery is absolutely ridiculous. Dump the bill or go back to the drawing board; put together a bill that reforms our Health Care Delivery System.
Maybe our first order of business, as a nation, should be to reform our legislative process; then we may be able to produce legislation that is in the best interest of our nation instead of the interest of the highest bidder. I have voted out all incumbents for several years but until every one gets on the same page it won't work, still I will continue. I think there are far too many corrupt senators entrenched in the current system and until, "We the people," begin acting as, "We the people," nothing will change. In my mind, this exercise in Health care Reform is absolute Proof that our Senate is totally and irreversibly corrupt; it appears it is impossible for the people to influence their Senators to behave in the best interest of their constituents without completely replacing the lot. Republican or Democrat – it’s two sides of the same coin.”

“The bill is TARP for the HMOs. A bailout of the HMO industry being spun as real HCR. The Senate bill firmly entrenches for-profit HMOs into the system. And it is what the WH wanted all along.
The WH has rewarded its corporate campaign donors. It is neither health care nor reform.”

Rep. Hinchey: Bush Administration 'Intentionally Let bin Laden Get Away' In Order To Justify Iraq War

“It is well known that Bush is incompetent even before his presidency; I'm not sure I am willing to give him credit for something requiring that much intellect. I think the real story here is MSNBC's attempted censorship of Rep. Hinchey's conjecture.”

“Whatever took place during the Bush administration was at the beckoning of people a lot smarter and a lot more devious than George W. Bush. He was just the empty vessel, the tool they chose to use to forward their agenda, knowing that he nad neither the integrity of character nor the common sense to stand in their way.”
Army Says Morale Has Fallen Among Troops In Afghanistan

“Very insightful; I saw a documentry on a small Central or South American country where this actually occurred and the CIA approved the list of Americans that the Death Aquads were permitted to kill. A very influentual U.S. businessman's son was among those permitted to be killed and the father went down to the country, investigated, and exposed the CIA activity. He returned home and sued the CIA only to have the case thrown out of court because he did not obtain the permission of the US Government to sue the same.”

“You are so right and it makes me wonder why President Obama has to give this much thought at all. I thought he stated during the campaign that he would have a renewed effort in Afganistan to capture Bin Laden but it seems to me this could be more easily and effectively accomplished by CIA efforts. End this war and bring our troops home; no troops in US history have been exposed to such an extended period of constant hostility. End the politics, and especially end this is simply cruel and undeserved treatment of some of America's bravest individuals.”

“The purpose of the CIA is, and always has been, to promote American corporate interests abroad. They do this by backing de@th squads to destabilize a country whose leadership is not willing to allow companies like Dole to simply steal the country's natural resources, and installing a more "compliant" leader. Civil wars work well for this purpose.
Why in the world would they take out OBL? There would be no excuse for our presence in the middle east, and that would be bad news for Raytheon, Halliburton, Bechtel, Xe, etc.
In fact, I strongly believe the insurgency in rhe middle east is backed by our CIA.”

“We went to capture Bin Laden and found it more complicated than expected; we took the country quickly but failed to accomplish our objective. Instead of admitting our failure, and regrouping or withdrawing, we created a diversion with Iraq and just stalled in Afganistan; Isn't this politics as usual. It is maddening that our politicians are so entrenched in this CYA culture that nothing gets accomplished until way too many people are dead and the pressure to end it becomes unmanageable. We, as citizens, are as responsible as the people we elect to lead for our country's policies and actions. Why do we keep sending the same people to Washington and expect them to behave differrently?”

“I agree that some of this is willful blindness but I would bet much of it was fraud, or at best deceit, by the people obligated to act in our best interest. I had an experience years ago where the loan agent tried to sneak in a pre-payment clause from Wamu in direct opposition to my instructions. He had hoped that I would not read the 40+ pages during closing (I do), or that I would resign myself to the clause because it was the 11th hour and the deal would not close if I did not sign the loan docs as they were presented. I fired him, and walked away from the deal. I also wrote the state banking comptroller but never heard the final disposition. A better deal developed later with better terms.”

“GMAC is Ditech and they were misleading people early on in the business. I called Ditech for a ReFi Quote in 2004 and told the person precisely what I wanted to borrow, the interest I was willing to pay, and what I felt was fair to pay in closing costs. I expected some discussion of their products, and the usual sales pitch that generally ended in a mutually beneficial agreement of terms and rate. Instead the person became very demeaning and dictated precisely how their process would work. She told me Ditech's experts were trained in saving me money; all I had to do was submit an application and they would do all the work. The person 'explained' that their mortgage experts would determine the loan program most appropriate for my income and situation, and that would be the only loan available to me through Ditech. She assured me that this process is what made Ditech the best in the industry and that recent statistics proved I would receive the best loan package possible if I let Ditech's experts tailor a loan uniquely suited to my requirements. Who buys a pitch like that; our most basic responsibility is to take care of ourselves. If we don't do that, then how could we possibly care for the ones we love. Thank God I hung up.....”

“While I don't entirely disagree with your post I do feel it places way too much blame on the people and not enough on the President himself. I feel President Obama was overwhelmed from the onset and enlisted the aide and advice of the wrong people. I feel he has become beaten, in a sense, and has lost sight of the power of Hope when channeled by a strong leader. Today, I see a President Obama with low expectations, relying on people that are failures from the nineties, and making many of the same mistakes that Bush made during his first four years. My only question is why President Obama has settled for so little while his Base is going for the Gold.”

“That was some time ago; this is a new financial world we live in. I have excellent credit with card limits of 30 to 40 thousand several years ago. Now, these same cards have 3 to 5 thousand dollar credit limits. It's the world we live in with tight credit and greedy bankers. Pay your bills each month and you are considered a dead beat; banks make much more money when people pay late and go over their credit limits. If you continue to pay your bills on time and in full you may well be without any credit limit what-so-ever next year or sooner.”

“Why are we screwing with this 60 votes crap and Bipartisanship bull when all we have to do is get 50 democratic votes to pass the legislation. I think the republicans have made themselves truly irrelevant and are too deeply entrenched in their, "Do nothing campaign." that they really can't do nything at this juncture of the election cycle. They really have to spin the situation existing at the time of the next election as a, "I didn't have anything to do with it." moment so it is in the best interest of the Democratic Party to pass a good bill and make it work. I have seen many losers in our government in my 40+ years of civic involvement, but never have I seen a more demoralized, tuned-out, group of misfits, as are the present members of the Republican Party. The Republicans are going to whine and sulk no matter what Bill is on the table so lets implement the nuclear option, full blast. There is absolutely no reason why the Democrats can not author and pass any legislation they damm well please. In fact they have an obligation to the country to do just that and the country knows it even if the Democrats don't.. Still, I suspect there may be too many Democrats feeding at the trough of the Health Care Industry to pass a clean piece of legislation even with only a 50 vote requirement.”

I have read several times that the Insurance industry has spent approximately 30 million dollars a day lobbying against this bill; who do you think will pay that tab; I would bet it's not being deducted from the CEOs' bonuses.”

“What's with this, "We ..." crap. All of these people speak with a mouse in their pocket. I haven't seen any of them speak in the singular; I guess then they would have to take sole responsibility for their feelings and statements. It appears they are all cowardly, sore losers, that harbor Anti-American feelings. The Republicans disgust me with their,"It's our way or no way." attitude. If they are in such agreement with Iran, North Korea, etc let them all live there, there isn't much they can do to harm their economies and we would be rid of these weak minded obstructionist. President Obama may not be perfect, or even at his most productive recently, but he has more strength and courage in the tip of his pinky that the bunch of these, 'Haters' have in totality.”
