Why the Gay Marriage Message Is Misfiring: Part 1

“We also need more LGBTQ Black, Asian, and Latinos to COME OUT. Most of us can make a long list of "out" Whites, but the lists get quite a bit shorter for most other races.”

Gays Boycott the Democrats - Finally

Commented Nov 11, 2009 at 13:15:21 in Politics

“Clueless and Selfish =

The people who ALREADY have these basic rights and have NO IDEA of the suffering that occurs when rights are absent, and who think the LGBTQ community is being selfish and impatient for demanding the very same rights they expect and enjoy.

You are expecting us to shoulder the burdens every American is dealing with now, PLUS unimaginable financial and emotional suffering. Let's watch YOUR father die, and YOUR mother be denied her husband's 30-year pension, and watch her become homeless soon afterward, if she wasn't already tossed out of the house for being a legal stranger. For starters.

Take today, as we learn that Rhode Island's GOP Governor, Don Carcieri, vetoed a bill allowing funeral decisions for domestic partners. EVIL.”

“YES - equal rights = equal taxes. I've also seen "activists" look shocked when tax revolt is suggested - many forget that to be an "activist" you have to actually DO something and not just think it.

Here's a great artical to withdraw consent from the state if you are tired of supporting the U.S. (and perhaps lack the resources to move to another country).

“Joan and Mary are 2 souls. SOUL = SOUL. All souls are equal. Two souls deserve marriage rights.

If religious institutions are allowed to OUT-purchase our chance to "win" an equal right, then those are HATE institutions. Perhaps one day burning down a HATE institution will be seen as self-defense instead of an "act of hate". Remember - it is NOT a "fair fight" - we are given FEW OTHER OPTIONS to protect our family in 2009 except attack those who are attacking us.

I also think paying one penny for the rights and protections other Americans expect as their birthright is a sickness. It smells like victimhood, akin to paying off the bully who says he'll beat you up if you don't donate your lunch money. If every LGBTQ in America, along with allies, all told the state and federal government that their taxes will be withheld until ALL AMERICANS have their constitutional right to equal protection, perhaps this secondary sickness of allowing votes on our family's safety and security would end for good.”

F**k Maine: A Call for Civil Disobedience in the Fight for Marriage Equality

Commented Nov 06, 2009 at 22:58:55 in Politics

“I've given up on gay organizations AND any other type of (feigned) "fighting" I've seen out there. If we just lined up the children in America who are hurt by LGBTQ legal discrimination (and reacted more like mothers), we'd be fighting with MUCH more than clever signs and phone calls.

I agree 1,000% with Mixner's line - "How can we have any dignity, honor or pride in ourselves if we validate this continued process of ballot box terrorism?" - so I take my fight directly to the FEDS, since THEY allow religious institutions to intrude upon my life in US law.

No equal protection?
No taxes paid.

And this fight WILL end in my own death if they try to imprison me. But don't waste your time criticizing me for being "stupid-short-sighted-insane-wasting-my-life-not-helping-the-movement", etc. I sincerely do NOT care what you think; I need to stand up for myself in a country where no one else will. I just know I will live my life WITHOUT bending over to a government that relentlessly abuses us psychologically, emotioanlly, and financially.

You do what YOU need to do. Find YOUR dignity.”

The Power of Fear and the Obligation to Hope

Commented Nov 04, 2009 at 23:45:09 in Politics

“Either government STOPS allowing votes on constitutionally-guaranteed rights, or Queers will need to continue to publicly acknowledge those institutions and individuals who are hurting our families - each and every time. Shame them publicly. Let them know that despite the fact that they are ALLOWED TO bring emotional suffering to our families and steal our pensions at the ballot box, that doesn't mean that they SHOULD do it. IT IS EVIL - IT IS WRONG.

What?...you don't think this is PERSONAL?

Ask these folks how PERSONAL it was to be denied rights;

It's Not Maine, It's the Process

Commented Nov 04, 2009 at 23:25:23 in Politics

“YES - I've been screaming this for years.

And we need GENDER-LESS LAW, where, for example - the response and punishment for violently raping a straight man is EQUAL TO the response and punishment for raping women, gay men, and FTM or MTF transgender persons. The gay press is well-aware of how rapes of gay men and MTF transgender persons are often dismissed by police, since "we wanted it anyway". Or an intersex person may marry a straight man, or a FTM transgender person may marry a bisexual man. I know of couples like these. EQUAL SOULS.

And women already know how invasive the male hands of government are.....or the pay inequity of the business world.

“Yeah to HPA!

Can you imagine the day when the number of straight allies outnumbers the population of the (out) LGBTQ community? Only then wil this fight truly transform from a "gay rights" issue to a "human rights" issue.

I cannot believe America allows some families to vote to BRING HARM AND SUFFERING to other families. It's beyond immoral, and enough to inspire some of us to stop paying taxes and bear arms to protect their our from church and governmental abuse. YES - that is what some people do when they've REACHED THEIR ABSOLUTE LIMIT - I'm so there.

Until America stops demonizing and using psychological terrorism against us (here are your rights, nope, just kidding, taking them away now) - we owe America NOTHING.”

Precisely - Heterosexuals would instantly stop paying taxes if they were in our shoes for one week - It would be LAUGHABLE to them to "wait" and endure the suffering we endure daily while other people decide if the constitutional is more than a toliet-paper substitute.”

Gay Marriage: What Would Buddha Do?

Commented Jul 14, 2009 at 13:39:51 in Politics

“Good Grief - We need to have more religions created by WOMEN, with accompanying religious texts written by them.

Maybe then all of this "I'm so terrified of another guy's weenie" crap would end in religion, the scared straight men would shut up and stop trying to demonize the gay men whom they often use as a free escort service during their later married years, and sanity would prevail.”

Take Thailand for example, where the Sangha not only continues to reject female ordination, but has recently gone on a witch hunt for monks who are effeminate in appearance. More often than not, this kind of behavior is a reflection of moral and ethical ineptitude within an institution.”

“"P.S. for all of those people who use children as a weapon here" -

LOL. I hear ya. I use the example of children as an argument FOR marriage equality.

There are SO many children in gay-led families and there are a multitude of blended families who love and raise children (some are society's abandoned/unwanted children) - marriage inequality hurts these families in countless ways. When inequality separates a mother and her child or keeps a daughter from seeing her mother in the hospital, that is evil harm due to the legal hatred of our families. Our children.

I also wonder how all of these anti-gay amendments (as in PROP 8) have affected children's development. Did ANYONE consider children's psychological well-being as these youngsters saw signs FOR or AGAINST their Mommy? Against their own family? Signs everywhere that were YES or NO - your family wins or loses - again, we're talking about how SAFE children feel in the world. It is child abuse.

I thought it was criminal to wage psychological warfare on tax-paying citizens by giving them LONG-OVERDUE civil rights - and then allowing society to vote them away. Revolting. Worth a revolution, at least in thought, if not in action.”

“You'd be surprised how many gays in America have stopped paying taxes and have been smart enough to move their money around and away from the IRS, not so much to bring change as much to right a wrong imposed on them (apartheid). I was a tax-resister until disabled; now I just advocate a complete tax revolt. I also advocate arming oneself if needed when and if the FEDS try to tax you without your constitutional rights; what a truly AMERICAN idea for this 4th of July.

“We ALL suffer is right. I haven't been able to work since 2004 due to the mess that regularly happens when long-term relationships end without a legal framework to protect BOTH parties. Gee, could it be that SOME gays are as selfish and vengeful as our straight counterparts? (duh)

I've relied on welfare since 2006 - quite a chunk of change for 3 years. Now I am on SSI for disability, which is good for me (more money given), but bad for tax-payers (who will foot the bill, and will continue to pay for ALL repercussions of discrimination).

1983-2004 = Contributing member for society (very active in music education, church, school, volunteer, and a tax-payer)

2006-present - Unable to be active in society; 100% dependent on your tax dollars.

“Nope, you're not! My partner and I set up a trust account (with our past due taxes - federal & state for 2 years now) and will pay those taxes when we are legally eligible to file married filing jointly. Our tax burden over those two years would be $13,000 less if we were eligible to file jointly. That is taking money away from providing for our children (don't be confused, we take very good care of our children). Those additional funds could be put into college savings accounts for our children, it could be used to take our children on even nicer vacations, it could be used to send them to better schools, it could be used for a multitude of reasons. But our heterosexual counterparts don't give two-sh!ts about OUR children so long as their children are granted SPECIAL treatment under the law.”
