“I see in the future, America divided into two distinct halves. One believing in education, science and free thought. The other relying on their belief in God and faith. The second group will slowly rebel against society and cling to their self righteousness not caring the damage they are doing to America as a nation. After realizing the Constitution allows for freedom of speech, they will try to change the laws and mandate their ideas through state run religion. In the end, the progressive, free thinkers will win out. This is not because of the determination of the religious right, but because of the social and economic failures that comes with closed thinking (already happening in Mississippi, Louisiana).”

“And history bears this out. The religious right (RR) has always been alive. They are always the "conservative" who is self righteous using God as their shield. We see it with Pharisees (Luke 18:9-12) and coming up to the Dark Ages. At the Epitome of their Power, they set into motion, the wheels of their own demise; the Crusades that led to The Enlightenment. They fought against it with the Inquisitions but they couldn't stop it.
In the modern era, these are the same people who supported Slavery and Segregation and against Women's Rights and the teaching of Science. The Last time we same them wreck havoc in our Country was Prohibition.
These people dont know History and now they are back using Abortion and Birth Control s their rallying cry. They tried with Gay Rights....but lost.
The Churches have gotten these people to replace their political positions with their religious ones. They complain about the Muslims and Sharia Law and they are not much better. Indeed, they are only the equivalent to the Taliban.”

“Bingo! Although your first sentence might be wrong... this is already started in the GOP... They and their supporters in the religious right want a theocracy instead of freedom. Have you watched the right equate freedom with ONLY the things they see as right? It's started, and it's up to the 80 or so percent of use that want too make sure church and state stay as far apart as it can be. If you want too see how government and church work together... you only need to look at the middle east! Why would anyone want that?”

“Curious, do those that believe in free thought, believe that it is only if all the others think what they are told they are allowed? Take another hit and tell us more of the future.”

“Progressive, free thinkers... it seems that when you live in a country of abundance and wealth, free thinking and reason are a luxury afforded. But when you live in places and times when misery does not conform to logic, people look for something other than reason. The turn to a god, any god for answers that can't be had by earthly means.”
“As a person who is very familiar with cephalopods, I can assure you the brain is located almost directly underneath the eyes and would still be intact in this specimen. Only the squid knew at this point if he was alive or not.”

“Still, judging from how it reacts to people poking it, it doesn't seem to be alive. I've seen clips of people poking the squid before the sauce was poured and it didn't move, but once soy sauce entered it went crazy. I'd err the side of caution and not eat it though.”
“I waited just under two hours to vote in Orlando. Part of the problem at my polling place was lack of scan-tron machines that logged your completed ballot. We had 1 machine at our poll. They eventually brought in another after lines topped 4 hours. Friends who lived in the less populated, but conservative lakefront neighborhoods saw multiple scanner machines. My question is... Who appropriated more machines to precincts with less voters and where did that second machine come from when the wait time hit 4 hours?”
“Not one thing, except Obamacare, is the fault of the current president. The credit rating was directly caused by republican obstructionism in rasing the debt limit. 2/3 the deficit is due to poliices set forth by republicans and republicans blocking revenue generating tax increases for the super wealthy. Gas prices are determined on a global market... Wait unitl the economy imporoves and we will see even higher prices! All the jobs were lost under Bush and after Obama just took office.
And even Obamacare, as you mentioned, would be much different without the republicans. They blocked the single payer system like other contries have in place. It has been shown to produce higher levels of care for about 1/2 the cost of what we are paying today.
Stupid people are the reason Mitt Romney is still in this race.”
Nativeexplorer on Oct 22, 2012 at 23:20:41
“(continued from the previous post)
The debt is where it is at because Obama did way too much spending (he doubled it from where it was when he took office.) GW Bush did incur some debt, but again, GW Bush hasn't been president since January 20, 2009 so any debt incured after that is Obama's debt.
You say the president isn't responsible for gas prices, then I guess you would agree that Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and everyone else who blamed President Bush for high gas prices should owe him an apology since he didn't have any control over it, correct? Also, if gas prices were lower when Obama took office because the economoy was bad, then gas should be free now because the economy is in a lot worse shape than it was in 2008. Obama's statement about that was just beyond idiotic.
And no, Obamacare is going to cost more for everyone. It's a bad idea and I can't wait for President Romney to abolish it. It's going to cost way too much and it isn't fair to take money from Medicare (and seniors who have worked all their lives for it.). The Supreme Court ruled it as a tax (which Obama said there wouldn't be any new taxes, so he lied which is another reason he is losing.)”
Nativeexplorer on Oct 22, 2012 at 23:18:48
“"Not one thing, except Obamacare, is the fault of the current president."
Newsflash for you.....Obama has been president since January 20, 2009, that means from the moment he took the oath of office, HE is responsibile for EVERYTHING that has happened since then, that's why he is president. If you're saying he shouldn't take responsibility for his failures, that's all the more reason to get rid of him because we need a LEADER, someone who WILL take responsibility for his actions.
The credit rating was lowered because Obama wanted to add more debt, and the Republicans stopped him from doing that, period. Our debt would be more had the Republicans not stopped him. Besides, for two years he could have had anything he wanted when his party had control of BOTH houses, but he passed Obamacare and his party lost control of the house and almost the Senate.
“Ok, it looks like this presidential election thing is all wrapped up!
Let's not get complacent! Now is the time to retake the Senate and get a larger majority in the house. It will cut down on the bickering and we'll only have one party to take responsibity for it's actions!”

“Don't believe the presidential election is wrapped up. Never take the eye off the prize but I do agree, we need to help Democrats and Independents get in the House and Senate. Tea Party days should be over but I hate it that we Americans will be paying them retirement for their one term!”
Winterberry on Sep 26, 2012 at 10:36:42
“Exactly! We need to remember what happened in 2010 because so many became complacent, and look what happened.”
“Money has gotten Mitt everything he has in life. His standing, career, jobs... Without money, I could see him working as a used car salesman at the dealership down the road. Mitt's story is the epitome of what is not working in America and why we are in the position we are as a country. He has never used his personality or intelect once, just sell more stock when you run low on money and your problems will fade away!”

He is just like a used car salesman...He keeps switching tactics in order to "sell it" but falls flat every time”

Honestly, all his problems have been solved by the mass of cash at his disposal.”

“Will there be internet?
No, seriously, I wish Richard good luck. Who are we to be critical when he and the other are now spending their private $$$ to fund the project. Without this kind of vision we would be a very boring species and not have allot of the cool science that makes the world a fun place to live. You only live once and can't take you money with you when you go. Plus more high paying engineering jobs for todays kids.”
“Do you really believe what you are saying or are you just memorizing and regurgitating Fox News talking points? Obama hates Americans who have jobs? Really? You want to blame someone for the soaring numbers of welfare recipients, blame your own party. They are the ones that tanked the economy. They are the ones who protect the growing disparity between the poor and rich that now the richest 1% are controlling 50% of the wealth.”

“Well Joy Division, facts are facts and the truth is the truth...no matter who repeats them. I dont watch Fox Newschannel, but it is encouraging to hear that they are broadcasting facts and truth. You obviously aren't interested in either facts or truth going by your comment LOL!”
To the teabaggers, neocons and the like.... Please don't celebrate with us, you had no part in this. Go back to your guns, god and hate.”

“Typical southern redneck behavior... I remember when it was cool to think before opening your mouth.
Unfortunately, this is becoming more typical in conservative circles. Be it the TeaBagers shouting down speakers at town hall meetings, idiots shoting at the president during the State of the Union Address or republicans booing a simple question during a debate.
Since MO was honoring Veterans and our troops does that mean that the people booing hate America?”
coach5532 on Nov 21, 2011 at 10:37:31
“Obviously you have not been to Florida. Here in Florida it is getting very difficult to find anyone who was born and raised here. We have been invaded by you loudmouths from the north. So tell me, if it is almost impossible to find anyone from the south down here, does that mean that the people who booed Michele are Yankee Rednecks??
I have visited all over the north and have never found anyone who thought it was cool to think before opening their mouth. And, most of what comes out would make a 20 year sailor blush. So please don't talk to me about southern manners. You have no idea what you are talking about.
As for booing America because MO was there to honor Vets. That is just crap. MO doesn't give a crap about our Vets nor what they have fought and died for. She has made that abundantly clear.”
Florida1966 on Nov 21, 2011 at 10:37:22
“btw, Joy Division sucked. Depressing music to shoot heroin and die to.”
“If you seriously think that MO has a disdain for her country you need to open your eyes. She volunteers 40 hrs. a week helping children, vets and homeless. Some previous first ladies sat home.
Obama has done nothing that deserves for his wife to be booed. Lowering taxes for 98% of Americans. Ending wars, capturing OBL and the like. You may disagree with some policies but to boo his wife, while she is honoring troops is especially vile.”
“It also confirms evolution... That kind disproves the existence of most religions.”
spotty34 on Apr 21, 2014 at 07:18:36
“No, that is so wrong. Evolution and creation go hand in hand. There's no way human life came from an amoeba or from apes. It's clear something caused humans to have reasoning and a soul. I'm sorry, but if you give apes 1,000,000 years, they aren't going to come up with the cure for cancer.”
