Media Fail: Kimberly Munley Did Not Bring Down Fort Hood Killer

“Does it matter who pulled the trigger? They both bravely answered the call of duty; they're both heroes. I assumed they made the injured officer the hero because the media loves a martyr.”

“In all fairness to Governor Palin, she HAS said she'll read anything that's in front of her. I imagine it's difficult to keep track of where you've read things when you read so much. *cough*”

amadorjon replied on Apr 15, 2009 at 14:17:45

“well really it's a three fold problem

1. Mexicos government is corrupt and does not want to take care of the poor mestizos in their midst

2. Big Business wants cheap labor, and when they finally destroy the middle class and the consumer base for their products, will destroy not only their own business but the economy as a whole

3. Democrats do not want to speak up on the issue for fear of angering Latinos, which I understand, believe me, I love hispanic culture, speak spanish, and have spent more time in the trench with these immigrants than those of you that are calling me a racist.......

this is not about racism, it is about my viability and economic survival.I may be ok, I go to college full time when I am not working, but that will not stop me from defending my fellow workers that are not so lucky as I. Not everyone can or wants to go to college, who will defend these americans jobs??”

Presidential Depression: Dealing With Post-Election Blues

Presidential Depression: Dealing With Post-Election Blues

Commented Oct 26, 2008 at 17:35:25 in Living

“Political depression isn't about who is or is in office, in my experience, but realizing that you're living in a society whose majority has values contrary to yours. And I don't mean that in a shallow sense -- it was devastating in 2004 to find that a majority of Americans didn't care to end torture, for example. And if Obama loses, the hope that we've made progress toward marginalizing racial bigotry will be swept away.”

trubluelefty replied on Oct 27, 2008 at 00:22:13

“You really summed it up. I was reading through the comments and wanted to explain that it is more than just losing, it is seeing my true dream for my country come crashing down as well. With Kerry I was truly upset becasue I had worked in Iraq and lived overseas and knew what was happening to the US image and it was shocking for me that people could re elect someone who had done so much harm to so many people. But with Obama I have worked this past year and have been very actively involved in the campaign. The article just doesn't do it for me. I am not going to be sad or something trivial like that it would just wipe me out completely. So ... guess I will get to sleep so I can wake up and work some more tomorrow on GOTV because it is so important for me, for my country.”

wezeppem replied on Oct 26, 2008 at 20:04:44

“Yes, yes, YES. That is always what I'm talking about: If the election does not go the way I want it to, then that means that I am a minority in a society of people who do not share my morals or values...and, I'm sorry...my intellect. And that is depressing beyond belief.”

Regardless, we start questioning McCain's service -- particularly his imprisonment and torture-- even as an independent 527, and we (rightfully) lose 10-20% of Democrats for the foreseeable future.”

“Edwards waited because reconciling the bitter, feuding Obama and Clinton foot soldiers is much more valuable than the nominal bump in polling that an endorsement (any endorsement) promises. This wasn't directed at undecideds like all the other endorsements -- this was directed at the Clinton dead-enders. Half of his speech boiled down to, "I respect and admire Hillary Clinton and I'm welcome here, and so are you."”

Exactly! Last night was a huge step towards unifying the Democratic Party and it gives Hillary a chance to make a graceful exit. HRC was on CNN right before and she was showing a lot more party unity. Do I think that's another one of her political ploys? Of course, but what matters is her attempt to bring the party together.”
