Health Care PASSES: The Scene In The House When It Happened

“The late labor/community organizer Saul Alinksky once said; " A liberal is a guy that leaves the room once an argument turns into a fight." He was very much on the money. The neo-liberals are elated, but the result of their "historic" vote will change very little. As long as the healthcare insurance monopolies can dominate what is and what isn't permitted to be treated, nothing has changed.

I for one supported Medicare For All or single payer. It was never even considered as the legal bribery of the HMOs silenced most of the so-called Democratic majority. What a farce!”

White House Turns Its Guns On The Chamber Of Commerce

“Recently the Chamber of Commerce did two things that clearly tell me that their agenda is NOT in the best interest of this nation: 1) They are 100% for continued import of goods once manufactured in the U.S., 2) the Cof C opposes REAL healthcare reform!

The Chamber of Commerce has priorities that do not help the nation, rather hinder any progress for this nation. It's obsessive hatred of organized labor is another reason why I could care less for the Chamber.

The Cof C is nothing but a more sophisticated version of the Ku Klux Klan! Instead of white masks and sheets, these jerks wear $2,000 dollar suits!”

“I don' t wish to rain on your parade, but what has the president done to end war? Especially the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq? It appears to me that Obama has no plan to end these unwinnable and highly questionable wars, thus putting him in the same category as his predecessor, G.W. Bush!

I think Obama's rhetoric is one of reconciliation and diplomacy, but his actions (or lack of) tell a different story! In my opinion former president Jimmy Carter has done far more in the interest of international diplomacy and peace than Obama could ever dream of doing!”

TED KENNEDY DEAD: Legendary Senator Passes Away From Brain Cancer (VIDEO)

“The death of Senator Ted Kennedy marks the end of a generation of Kennedys who despite their affluence worked hard to end social injustice. I miss the 60's, it was a different time with with different yet similar issues. The biggest difference it appears is that back then shame meant something to politicians. Today they just shrug it off as they willingly and proudly accept corporate contributions to promote evil.

God Bless You Ted Kennedy and thank you for years of caring!”

Gonzales, Ashcroft Speak On Torture: "Not Here To Apologize"

Commented May 05, 2009 at 13:08:40 in Politics

“For any of the Bush regime to claim that torture is legal is as ludicrous as expecting sewer water to be potable! Come on, since when does the word of crooks and liars mean anything?

With the crimes of the Bush regime we also have the complicity of Congressional Democrats who refused to consider the articles of impeachment. Now we have the White House unwilling to prosecute Bush and his gang of psychopaths! What the hell is wrong with us? Are we so complacent that we will allow government officials to do as they please and get away with it??”

“As a Latino I am very proud of Obama's victory not just because he is African American, but also because he was capable of reaching out to people of all races, ethnicities and classes. He united us and now we must continue supporting him and help him undo the damage we have endured from Bush & company.

I believe Obama's election is similar to that of Franklin D. Roosevelt's election back in the 30's! I for one am looking forward to a new NEW Deal! Yes indeed, Happy Days Are Here Again!”

“Roseanne has always been one of my favorite comediennes! Her blunt, get in your face tactics should be respected. Unlike the fake antics of the scared of their own shadows neo-liberals that have not and will not stand up to Bush and his neo-fascist regime!

Yeah she's rough around the edges, but so is McCain and most of the right wing idiots from Fox News, yet no one questions them! Women like Roseanne should be respected and treated as heroes, not like demons!

Go get 'em Rosie! You have more cojones than most male politicians!”

Union Leaders' Clash Over Dem Endorsements A Sign Of Racial Polarization

“BonB is correct about American trade unionists voting against their own interests. A lot of that has to do with race, ignorance of class consciousness and an undying obsession with the idea that the bosses are going to some way, some how become benevolent and give workers a break! FAT CHANCE! Remember PATCO voted for Reagan and we all know what they got in their END!

AFSCME across the nation is undergoing internal turmoil because McEntee like many union "leaders" thinks he knows what's best for his "children", the dues paying rank & file members! McEntee not unlike his arch rival Andy Stern from SEIU haven't a clue as to what real trade union democracy is and that being a union leader is much more than just commanding a fat six figured income!

Obama is labor's best bet by far! The federal sector American Federation of Government Employees realizes this as do other unions. Hillary maybe the white liberals poster girl, but she is is definitley NOT a real progressive choice between her and Obama!”

broogha replied on May 15, 2008 at 23:28:21

“JusticiaParaTodos,
Could not have said it better--the majority of union leaders do believe they know what is best for the children (rank and file members). They forget it is the members' money that pays their salary, meaning they work for the members, not the other way around.”
