“Amen...Obama is not a leader...He is constantly working on his image and is in constant campaign mode. I voted for him but feel like my vote was wasted.
The only people Obama seems anxious to please are his corporate donors and the Republicans.
Obama is and always has been the consumate politician...He can say the right things, but when he chooses Wall Street insiders like Emanuel, Geithner, Rubin, and Summers to help oversee their cronies in the banking industry, we're in big trouble--putting the foxes in charge of the hen house.
Let's face it...Obama is a player in our corrupt pay-to-play system. Until we get public financing for all candidates, big money will rule this country.”

Has Obama Lived Up To His Campaign Promises? (VIDEO)

“Obama is not a leader...His main concern seems to be pleasing his corporate donors and the Republicans.
He has continued many Bush era policies (mountaintop mining, rendition of "terror suspects," supression of torture photos, etc.) and has failed to lead on the economy, hiring Wall Street veterans Emanuel, Geithner, Rubin, and Summers to advise him on economic policies. He has also failed to lead on the health care bill and climate legislation.
Instead, we see President Obama in constant campaign mode: traveling all around the country, going to Europe to stump for the Chicago Olympics, and passing candy out to trick-or-treaters at the White House...Wonderful photo ops, but they're not solving the real problems of this country or putting people back to work.”

And thanks to Bush, if he tried to close down present operations, the government would have to financially compensate those companies - Bush knew how to take care of his pals.”

Why else would he throw so many billions to help AIG, GM and Wall Street and allow main street to suffer? He only enjoys being where he is celebrated and/or enriched which is why the New Orleans stop-over with the unwashed masses was a blip on the schedule but loves being where rich donors are throwing down $30,000 to sit at a dinner in the same 5 star luxury conference room with Obama.”

We are set to spend $65 billion in Afghanistan yearly, according to Biden. What does that buy us? More terrorists because the Afghanis don't want us in their coutnry in the first place (especially when we accidentally bomb civilians).
Think of all the good that $65 billion could do here in the U.S., where so many people need jobs and health care.
What makes us think we can "win" in Afghanistan when that country destroyed the Soviet empire?

Afghanistan is the "graveyard of empires." It broke the back of the British and Russians--two huge empires...We should be working to improve Pakistan instead, and should use some of that $65 billion to create jobs for all the people who are suffering here.”

“This isnot a matter of lying and willfully deceiving the public in order to be a team player. Powell went before the UN nations and put forth information in favor of war that he knew or ought to have know was questionable at best. This is a debate as to what is the best and most realistic approach towards Afghanistan. Arianna assumes that her and Biden have the same views when it comes to Afghanistan and then she takes a leap in logic that becuase he does think like her he should resign. It is a pretty rediculous argument to try and make. She came across as being rather silly on CNN.”

American favorabiity in Afghanistan is 47%, down from 85% in 2005. The majority of the Afghanis want us to stay. None of the 'graveyard empires' had that popularity. The fact is the Afghanis probably don't like us being there but they DESPISE the Taliban. The Taliban is a radical religions sub-group of Peshtuns and number about 20,000 whereas there are 42 million Peshtuns in Afk-Pak.

“The entire administration including Powell caught on to the fact that they were trying to propagate a lie in the court of public opinion. The state department found errors in fact and only omitted some leaving in ample fake evidence to invade. He didnt announce a resignation until after Hussein was deposed amid an attempt to garner support for reform in the intelligence community to prevent a future scenario like that one.
Powell resigning before the war would have accomplished nothing. Biden resigning now would accomplish nothing. Ultimately, Obama or mccrystal must come to their senses and figure out when enough is enough. Its really hard to try to rationalize almost doubling the number of troops in afghanistan after being there for the better half of a decade already - far too reminiscent of vietnam which was defined by its ridulous length without major accomplishment and its slow but steady troop escalation that resulted in the crushing defeat of the democratic party as it split and crumbled leading to a republican congress and presidency. I really hope Obama is looking to LBJ on this one as there are countless parallels between Obama now and LBJ trying to push through medicare both of whom had a laundry list of social reforms that could decide their presidency and both of whom were debating an escalation of an already shaky war that could rapidly lose public support at any time.”

The global warming bill passed by the House, which seems to be backed by the president, is full of giveaways to the coal/energy industry, one of Obama's biggest campaign donors. We have bailed out Wall Street while average Americans are losing their jobs and homes, and Geithner, Emanuel, Summers, and Rubin--Obama's advisers--are straight from Wall Street.
The Obama Administration and the Democrats in Congress are drowning in corporate contributions, so they're dancing to Corporate America's tune. Meanwhile, we the people are footing the bill and losing our country.
Here's to mandatory public financing for all candidates...The only way we're going to save the system is to get rid of the influence of big money in D.C.”

Dems on the other hand, even with a majority, couldn't prevail on what type of pizza was going to be ordered, thin or thick crust, and lets not even get into the toppings issue.”

Obama Health Care Speech Reactions: HuffPost Readers Share Their Thoughts
Commented Sep 09, 2009 at 21:41:36 in Politics
“I was really disappointed in Obama's speech...Once again, it was style, not substance...His support for a public option was weak--it would be restricted to only Americans who did not have health care insurance; he also made a point of downplaying the importance of the public option, saying he thought that fewer than 5% of Americans would sign up for it, and that it was only one part of the plan.
IMO this was a nod to the insurance companies, with whom the Obama Administration has been making back room deals...http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/08/13/internal-memo-confirms-bi_n_258285.html
I'm afraid our pay to play system is in full force, from the White House to Congress, and that the health care bill as described is incremental at best. I'm with Bill Moyers--we need stand strong for a robust public option, not a watered down version...http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2009/08/29/moyers/index.html”

“Why don't you run for President and fix it all since you seem to think it is so easy. When Hillary tried, people backed down and did not back her. It has to be done incrementally. Or the same people it is designed to help will rally against it,,,, as usual.”

How about sticking to principle and ignoring the powerful special interests and the Republicans who simply want to stand in the way? What a concept!”

“Obama got huge campaign contributions from the big corporations, including the insurance industry. He is now dancing to their tune...He is not a saint nor a god, and we need to hold him and every other politician accountable.
I'm with Olbermann...If Obama continues to back away from yet another campaign pledge and drop the public option, he should face a challenger in the primary...
Let's get over the hero worship and hold Obama accountable for his actions.

Paging A Different President Obama

“Obama's campaign was a very successful PR campaign to paint Obama as a progressive. People bought it because the media was only too happy to promote it...
If voters had done their homework and looked at Obama's record in the Illinois and U.S. Senate, they would have seen that Obama was a corporate Democrat...more of a follower than a leader.
Obama is dancing to the tune of some of his big campaign donors now...He earned more money than any presidential candidate in history, and what many people don't realize is, much of it was from huge corporations (he rejected public financing). If we expect our politicians to serve the interests of the people, we need mandatory public financing for all candidates (Is $80+ million not enough to run a campaign?!)
On health care, progressives are going to have to push-push-push Obama and their own senators to include the public option. Otherwise, the insurance companies and Big Pharma will win.”

“Welcome to your future! Twenty years ago, climate experts were predicting this very scenario: year-long wildfire and floods, and extreme weather conditions across the world.
What did the U.S. do? Our Senate rejected the international Kyoto Treaty in 1997 by a vote of 95 to 0.
Now global warming threatens our food supply:

What can we do? First, we can cut back on our own contribution to the problem (drive less, install energy-savings appliances, etc. in our homes). We can also contact our senators and demand that the current Waxman-Markey bill (ACES) be completely overhauled. ACES needs to include provisions for a fuel carbon fee and a cap-and-dividend system:

“Don't feel bad, even those of us whose nations signed on to Kyoto haven't done a thing towards solving the problem. I am a complete pessimist on this score, the only things that could solve the problem will hurt, and the moment a government tries actions that hurt, they will be gone. Until it is far too late governments will play games, talk the talk, work around the problem trying to give the appearance of doing something, but nothing real will get done.
