Caught on Tape: Obama Adviser Explains How to Control Media
Commented Oct 21, 2009 at 08:55:35 in Media
“You'll see more and more politicians taking their message directly to the American people. There's nothing wrong with controlling your message. Looking at how the 24 hour news cycle feeds us five second sound bites of what they want us to hear for the sake of having two opposing talking heads argue about it is disconcerting to say the least. I have no problem with Obama or any other politician controlling their message but for their sake it better be the right message.”

“Imagine wanting your message to get out undistorted to the pubic before the news anchors have time to spin it!
The nerve of Obama !”

“Fully agree. On your last sentence, I may add: it better be the message you then follow through on after the election...”
Your HuffPost Experience Is About to Get A Lot More Social!

“For those of you concerned.. No social networking site can share anymore than you're willing to give it access to. My rule of thumb is to not upload anything that I wouldn't mind sharing.”

“lol. seriously. I'm not getting why everyones finding this so offputting. If anything facebook is way more intrusive then HuffPost but atleast controllable to some degree. I probably would be more concerned that its kind of a lame interface so far.”

Huffington Post Blogger Shannyn Moore in Palin's Cross Hairs (UPDATED - Press Conference in Anchorage)
Commented Jul 05, 2009 at 21:59:03 in Politics
“Herein lies one of the main reasons Sarah Palin will never be taken seriously by anyone outside of her maniacal base. She spends too much time dishing back and forth with bloggers, comedians and pundits.”
Sarah Palin Resigning as Alaska's Governor (VIDEO)

“I can hear the GOP primary debates now.. "She quit on Alaska and she'll quit on you!"”
Rasyr replied on Jul 03, 2009 at 18:24:20
“Yup! If she couldn't stand the pressure of a single term as Governor, then how is she going to handle a national office if she decides to run for one (i.e. President).
Her resigning without completing her first/only term as Governor is going to be massive political fodder for other Republican'ts”

It's CNBC That Has Not Yet Hit Bottom
Commented Mar 13, 2009 at 14:22:52 in Business
“I don't see how this has anything to do with Obama. Trying to find a way to pin CNBC's failures on Obama is kind of like blaming the entire economic crisis on the "Losers" who cannot pay their mortgages.”

Brown v. Monkey
Commented Feb 24, 2009 at 08:51:36 in Media
“Great post. I would like to add that we in the black community must instill empathy in our young men. Too often is the case that men have no awareness or care for how their actions impact not only their partners but also their children, relatives, friends and community. Until men understand how to listen to, understand and react to their spouses feelings the patterns of violence are likely to continue. This is hardly an issue of race by the way. Domestic abuse is not only the most reported crime in America... It is the most under reported as well.”
developvida replied on Feb 24, 2009 at 09:33:49
“I completely agree with you that your young men need to instill empathy within themselves. In fact, all young men must do so across all cultures and races. It doesn't help that our young men don't have role models within their own community, let alone their own home! It's sad, but our young men our lost, and the only 'family' they end up trusting are gangs and rap artists (not the good ones, eg. 50 cent). Obviously there are other factors that affect this chain of reaction, like poverty and poor school systems, but by inserting or presenting new male role models to our young men, there will finally be an education on what it takes to be a male leader. And no longer will initiation be about getting into a gang or becoming a hustler on the street, but these young men will be initiated, hopefully by their own fathers, into the group of responsible, strong, male citizens.”

“Don't let em get you down, Joe. I make it a point to watch your show every day. I do it for just the reason you stated. It's the only show I know of that you can watch people with different ideologies have a discussion and respectfully disagree with each other. Keep it lax... Mika with the baby was a great moment for the show. Anyone who had a problem with that should have their heads examined.”

Barack Obama's America

“I could personally care less about the tax cut. I'm middle class and will gladly take the money and know many others need the break more than I do. What I want is for special interest groups to lose their grip on DC. I want a more transparent government. I want the infrastructure of the nation to be brought into the 21st century and I'd like to see people put back to work. If we can find jobs for the hundreds of thousands of people who have lost good paying jobs that alone will pump revenue into the system and help drive down the debt.”
CrankyCurmudgeon replied on Oct 31, 2008 at 20:09:41
“Like your style (you're really Superman, right? Kal El).
Seriously, I feel the same way. I can live without a personal tax cut if the overall direction of the country improves for the majority of people. I want a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. Really. There are plenty others who need a break worse than I do, and I'm just barely middle class, meaning I still work for a living and will 'til I drop most likely.
This woman makes me sick.”

Colin Powell Is Ready To Endorse
Commented Oct 15, 2008 at 11:50:58 in Politics
“Powell is also the guy who was isolated from briefings after presenting opposing views. He's also the guy who refused to serve a second term because he was at odds with the Bush administration. Colin Powell is the only one who left the Bush white house with some measure of his integrity and dignity intact.”
Suddenly Obama's Auto-Policies Matter: Michigan Is The New Florida
Commented Sep 25, 2008 at 14:06:36 in Home
“The only reason Detroit was making Hummers faster than Aunt Jemima could flip a pancake is because the American people was not only buying them but demanding more. The auto industry will always ultimately pander to the American people in regard to what gets rolled off of assembly lines. So if you need to point a finger at who's responsible for this mess. You can point two fingers... one at the auto industry for lacking foresight and the other at anyone you see with a Hummer or SUV sitting in their driveway.”
