Maryland Gay Marriage: Voters Invited To 'Big Gay Public Wedding'

“First of all, congratulations to the happy couple! Second, I think marriage is a commitment between two people, of course. It's also a state-sanctioned relationship with legal privileges (which is why same-sex couples want and should have the right to marry in all 50 states). A wedding is a way of celebrating that commitment and that new legal (and sometimes religious) status with their community. If the Rileys are grateful to the people of Maryland who voted for same-sex marriage and consider them part of their state and their community, why not have a big public wedding and reception? It's an occasion worth celebrating, both personally and politically.”

“There's "personal baggage" and then there's having people walk in and scream obscenities at you as happened here. The incident had zip to do with the cashier's "personal baggage" and everything to do with the customer's rudeness.”

Which Professions Have The Most Psychopaths?

Commented Nov 12, 2012 at 07:36:41 in Small Business

“I think most people enter the clergy for the right reasons (wanting to serve God and their congregations for starters), but some people do for the wrong reasons. Think of cult leaders, televangelists, the Borgias. I was kind of surprised that clergypeople were so high on the list, but I'm not surprised that some of the people who are drawn to the clergy have psychopathic characteristics. Being in charge of a whole congregation's spiritual lives is a very powerful position, something that a manipulative, egocentric person might be attracted to. And a person who lacks guilt and empathy would not have many qualms about taking advantage of that position for his or her own self-aggrandizement and financial gain.”
