“The government agancy that runs the shelter and the responsible employees should be sued, and the employees terminated and/or prosecuted. What a betrayal of trust!”

“While I agree with your comment I should point out that the government does not run no kill shelters, however, a majority of these shelters are non profit, which does help them with federal and state taxes.”

BLM Digs in Heels Over Costly Approach to Wild Horses Despite Sequester

Commented May 15, 2013 at 02:53:41 in Green

“The BLM can't afford to keep their current hours at Palomino Valley National Wild Horse and Burro Adoption Center.... Yet they (funded by you and I) can afford to pay $6,000,000 to pay for helicopters to round up the mustangs? Helicopters with pilots that have literally run the hooves off a large foal, and have caused other young foals to collapse, and some die.

50,000 mustangs in holding pens, yet less than 32,000 running free. "Stockpiling 50,000 wild horses costs taxpayers more than $120,000 per day." Is that why Ken Salazar sold all those mustangs to Tom Davis so that he could ship them to slaughter? ... and he only charged him $10 per horse.

While the BLM is giving us figures, why don't they tell us how much they are bringing in from the range cattle? How many wolves have been killed because of the owners of these cattle? How many mustangs have been separated from everything that they've ever known to appease these ranchers? What the BLM needs to do is stop and think about how much we are giving up so that these cattle can be run on property that they're damaging and doesn't belong to their owners.

While we are talking about the BLM and how they are currently managing things, can they tell us how much of our BLM land that they've liquidated to help enable fracking?”
