“Let's not make this a right and left thing... From a wordsmithing standpoint, you are correct. Birth father wouldn't apply (unless somehow the Brazilian government allowed the late mother's husband to adopt the boy). I think he was just trying to make the distinction. Let's just say that it is generally a happy ending.”

“If the camera angle were a little different we could see the other side of his forked tongue. Six months ago, the rallying cry was that the Democrats had to be stopped from passing health care reform because they didn't want anything different. Now the spin is that Republicans have is that it's not different enough. Reminds me of that old saw, "If we had eggs we could have ham and eggs... if we had ham." Sheesh!”

“A 'thoroughly researched book about the financial and se xual habits of Clinton...' I can hardly wait! When are we going to get a glimpse into the same habits of GWB? Well, OK - We can go with financial and drinking. For instance, I still want to know the real story behind the shiner he got falling off the couch while he was watching footbal, or the DUI that never got investigated during the first campaign. Press sure was acting like a bunch of good dogs then.
Pres Clinton was already outed to the tune of $40 Million in GOP directed taxpayer dollars. No entreprenurial writers interested in making a few bucks on the Bush legacy? As long as you stay out of Cheney's way, it would be like writing a piece for MAD Magazine.”

“Absolutely - Vick tortured animals for profit - That is a matter for a public trial. Woods stepped out on his wife - That is a matter to be determined between the man and h is wife. Is the state of the world on such solid ground that we actually have the time to pass judgement on this? He only beame a "bad role model" because the press is giving free ink to the parade of strumpets and their unsubstantiated claims. I half expect Judge Crater to step forward and say he had a "toe tapping" affair with the man.”

Trying to take a step towards solidarity, he was prematurely forgiven for his association with the Republican campaign. Like the old saying about the man who was bit by the snake he assisted... "You knew what I was when you picked me up."”

“I don't believe parents should raise their kids to be standouts, or "heroes" any more. As soon as a figure of outstanding sports, or intellectual, or whatever ability makes his or her mark, the press makes it their business to find or invent feet of clay. Their body of work or accomplishments are set aside and the dissection begins. The only "heroes" who are not salked by media heyenas seem to be those who are actually victims; generally press-dubbed as heroes for having been in the wrong place at the wrong time. In the interest of full disclosure (or payoffs), the paramours seem to be falling from the trees. Benjamin Franklin observed, "three can keep a secret if two of them are dead"... but then he had a French mistress.”

“ABC cancels the GMA appearance, then CBS got a ratings boost when they picked him up, as did Letterman later that night. Back at ABC, he's scheduled to perform on The View and Jay Leno; but cancelled off of the late night New Years Eve and Jimmy Kimmel shows. Sounds like the morality police at ABC are a bit bipolar. CBS is apparently feelng expansive since the appeals court threw out the Janet Jackson nipplegate fine last year. Lambert should stick with them.”

tamdayc replied on Dec 06, 2009 at 07:04:06

“it isn't the morality police. ABC was ticked off at ADAM because he changed his performance from rehearsals in an effort to shock ABC. They felt betrayed. I don't understand. This guy has no talent and just screams. He uses those over the top theatrics to distract us.”

“Good grief! Even father Jim Anderson (Robert Young) in "Father Knows Best" turned out to be an alcoholic. Why is every smug reporter, curmudgeon and gaffer associated with the media suddenly become The Little Prince? Most disappointing was Jesper Parnevik saying she should have used a driver on him. From where I sit, the marriage of Mr & Mrs Tiger was more of a corporate merger - escalating her from the status of Parnevik's nanny. With Mama Woods presiding as the Chairman of the Board (having run off the blonde lawyer he was dating); it was a recipe for disaster from the get-go.”

“In the century of pandering to the religious RIght. ABC was well aware of the content of that performance and is now backpedaling at Mach 1. So, in a false display of piety and propriety, they pull an AM performance of an entertainer who has proven himself capable of morphing his act to fit the situation. "Our Dollar, invested in the BIg Board. Hallowed be Thy Price to Earnings Ratio..."”

SiberianRat replied on Nov 24, 2009 at 23:51:36

“I agree. It's similar to the Gay Pride parades that self-portray gay men (primarily) as a stereotype. However, I think that Lambert is being handled badly. They specifically went for the shock value - It was hawked that way right up to performance time. It did seem like he was using the Zodiac Show producers to stage some of his Idol performances, but the staging was nothing more than schtick and overblown (pardon the pun). He's much too talented to need to resort to that.”

“The Zodiac Show meets ABC !! If they were going for "Out There," they succeeded. I don't believe ABC was upset, becaue they were surely watching the rehersals. Feigned "upset" comes when viewers call in. Adam Lambert is a very talented singer who does NOT have to resort to this level of theatrics begun by the aging Madonna. By far the favorites on Idol were this ballad style songs. All of the lead-ins said people would be talking.,, and they were right. Adam is going to have to work to get back to the nice guy personna who was selling out the Idol tour.”

I worked at an insurance rehab unit a few years back where the primary slacker-style claim came from the hourly paid church-going types who pointed fingers at the "poor" for gaming the systemand voted Republican every time. Even photos of the "back injury" disability claimants working on their cars or painting a house weren't enough to force them back to work.”

“If you have a short attention span, read the synopsis. There is no plan for government takeover of insurance. Interesting that in my state, your DMV issue could be handled via the internet. Controlling ones own healthcare is like herding cats. "Tax deductible" assumes you have income. Explain that to all the hard working people who were kicked to the curb by the big corporations like, say, insurance companies, and cannot now get health insurance - especially if they were ever sick. To have health insurance, we are forced to work for these same companies; who feel free to burn off the "overhead" employees like underbrush once every decade or so. They call it a sound business model; and CEO's go strut their stuff to the market analysts... Those who helped us into this fix. Forget "Lion King" - THIS is the circle of life.”

“I'm my own consumer, I buy what I can afford, and pay for what I want.

If I don't pay for it and take the time to understand what I'm buying, then I don't expect a service to happen, it's a crap shoot.

Government health care is a promise, it is not paid for since it's a monopoly and doesn't match revenues and costs, and is beholding to politicians, and is too big to fail. So for me government health care is a crap shoot.”
