I would hazard a guess there are collectively more people paying attention to this race and special election outside the district than there are right here inside the 23rd. We're all rather fatigued with the onslaught of outside-financed commercials playing big city mudslinging games while the populace of this rural North Country is concerned with much higher than average joblessness, the departure of once major employers (e.g. GM) and the economic suffering of our dairy farmers. Big party partisanship and an endless flow of negative TV commercials is a big turn-off here.
