Memo to Warren Buffett: Put Down the Pom-Poms and Tell Us the Truth About the Economy
Commented Nov 17, 2009 at 12:02:01 in Business
“Look at the Meta message... lots of economics is based on perception. By creating a positive perception, insitutions and people will feel more comfortable and spend more money. Buffet isn't telling us what to do, he's showing us by example, and laying a foundation so that people will feel confident again.
Part of the problem is that the banks have the money, but they aren't willing to lend except to very stable customers. Buffet's comments indicate that he perceives this as perception issue, and he's trying to create a positive perception and help institutions feel comfortable again.
On the other hand, banks could be holding money back to make Obama fail. Four years of a recession will likely have Obama out of office in 2012.
I hope the Buffet is right.”

Congress "Getting Completely Crushed" With Over 100,000 Calls For Obama's Healthcare Reform

It's good to know that we can still reach out! It's good for Congress to know we are paying attention, and that we care.
I've watched the twitter events go viral and people re-tweet about health care. It's moving to see a new tweet every few seconds. I wonder what it's like to be in the office and have a constant flow of calls from one's constituents, asking to be represented. I hope it touches them. If not, they don't deserve to be in office.”

Sen. Kyl Not Sure People Die From Lack of Health Insurance
Commented Oct 19, 2009 at 13:26:32 in Politics
“In some ways he's right, it isn't lack of insurance that's killing people, even people with health insurance are dying. It's the lack of efficient delivery of effective care whether the insurance companies deny the insurance or they deny the care, people are still not getting the care they need.
I wish the media would put people on who call out the spin, since it doesn't seem to be their job.”

“I love your articles and your leadership! Thanks!
But, I think that there is a strategy that you are missing. Obama knew there would be an uproar over this.
August was perfect for letting the Republicans vent and lie, get it out of their system. Things seem to be winding down after venting.
Obama also understands the passion of the left. He campaigned on the public option, that's his first choice. He needs his supporters to be active to give him the support to make the changes that he wants. If people are frustrated and getting angry, that's a good thing, they will get active to give him the support to push his goals through. If we sit back and assume that Obama can handle it, we will lose. He needs us.
We're still there behind Obama, working really hard to get him the support he needs to push this through.

Both Obama and Clinton are very intelligent, well-spoken, charismatic men that have

It the professional ones that are hard to identify, like the bank loans in the subprime market, they took the deposit, they took the payments, they took the house, they were paid when the house foreclosed, they were given money by the government, and the Federal Reserve gave them loans at 0%.
Or, let's look at the health industry. They profit by running us through the tests, forget about whether the tests are relevant to our health. This not only costs us money, studies show it does not result in better health, and in some cases, can even make us sicker.
It's the people and institutions we trusted that have betrayed us. Bernie fell into that category.”

I had to laugh at the comment early on, that information was supposed to come from the AP and be spread out to the rest of the country. Not anymore. The traditional media gave up their position when they sacrificed their integrity to be the mouthpiece of the Republican party, forcing the US citizens to find their news elsewhere. And that we have.
