“Did the teacher using that textbook notice the inaccuracies and continue to use it? ..... or not even know the text was inaccurate?”

“The originator of the complaints was a history professor at William and Mary who happened to be thumbing through her daughters textbook on the first week of school. The glaring error was in the Civil War section, which the class would not get to until well into the school year. So perhaps the teachers had not gotten that far in the book yet, either.”
“I am amazed at the level of immaturity and ridiculous stupidity displayed in these videos. From a naval officer no less. When did naval officers stop being college-educated leaders? The videos are more stupid than offensive. The man should lose his job just for being so stupid. How could someone with that kind of working mind command a ship and crew? He can't.”

“I like her music but what right does she have to come here and "investigate" anything? Shakira - stay in Columbia and mind your own business. If you are worried about the illegal Hispanics in Arizona go ahead and adopt a family or two.”

“Well I guess that give as the right to investigate her Country laws and getting our nose in Colombia internal affairs.... Don't you think?
I'm "Latino" and become American by choice and very proud of it... so Shakira does not have any saying in our internal affairs ... we are a independent country and independent states with their own laws and no foreign have any saying on it...
YA BASTA DE TANTA COJUDEZ!”

“the word "investigate" was a stupid play on words by the AP- dont believe the hype”
“How dare you compare this to slavery!! No one is FORCING illegal immigrants to work. No one is WHIPPING them or SELLING them. The US taxpayers are sick and tired of freeloaders. If these people want to stay here they need to become US citizens, speak the language of our country, and support themselves. NO MORE FREE RIDE.”

“So nothing to say about the very white employers who pay to bring them over the border, pack 20 of them in one house and have them work 12-16 hours a day all in an effort to avoid paying taxes and paying minimum wage. AZ has failed to go after any employers under the strict employer laws that have been on the books there since 2007.
And I do think the talking points are a bit mixed up - which is it? Are illegal immigrants freeloaders or are they taking your jobs? I don't think it can be both.
Also, speaking the language of our country.....take a look at eastone's post below for an example of English only. Why are we not embracing bi-lingual like every other developed nation? Most europeans can speak at least 2 languages, foreign language requirements in public and private schools have fallen by the wayside and the English language is being slaughtered. This is why we have lost our competitive edge in a global economy.”
“Oh please... there is nowhere in the Bible that says we must buy health insurance, have drivers licenses, wear seatbelts, not smoke in public, etc. either.”

“Goodness. If you are against those things, you would not want to immigrate to Canada. Canada requires driver licenses, the wearing of seat belts, the wearing of motorcycle helmets, prohibits smoking in restaurants, bars, outside buildings, on buses etc, provides a public health care system, and considers social security and Medicare not as entitlement programs but as an essential part of the social safety net and will tax you accordingly. Canada also loves regulations. We regulate everything. I know earlier you said you had thought about immigrating to Canada but if you don't like those things, Canada is not for you. On the other hand, if you like those things, you will never regret immigrating to Canada.”
“Excellent point. I would like to move to Canada. Problem is I can't. No one can. Canada doesn't want more people. I like to move to Australia. Problem is I can't. No one can. Australia doesn't want more people.”

“Canada accepts immigrants. In fact because of our low birth rate, we accept lots of immigrants. We call ourselves a nation of immigrants because we are. However, be aware. In Canada, your American Democratic party is further to the right than our conservative parties. Things that in the US seem socialist are seen as human rights in Canada such as public health care etc.”
“Before I even read others comments I want to say that I am outraged by the number of illegal immigrants sucking funds from US taxpayers! It is time to deal with the illegals. Specifically people that are here ILLEGALLY!! Not Hispanics or Eastern Indian or any other ethnic group but anyone and everyone that is here ILLEGALLY and using our schools, emergency rooms, food stamps, subsidized housing. Become a US citizen, pay taxes, speak English or go back to where you came from.”
Hannalee on Apr 27, 2010 at 13:13:49
“Most of these people pay taxes. Sometimes they get NOTHING for it. It's funny to hear of "sucking funds" from U.S. taxpayers! Businesses and corporations lure illegals here because they profit from them. If they couldn't get jobs, they wouldn't come. Americans are making a tidy profit. If you have a problem with illegals, talk to the people who hire them illegally.”

“I am not outraged at the immigrants taking what they can, they are working in their own self interest as all people do.
But if we are to have the rule of law, which bounds how we pursue our self interest we need the laws respected by those sworn to uphold them. The federal government has chosen not to perform their responsibility.
The state is now stepping in.
What I am outraged at is the federal government personnel that we fund deciding not to enforce laws on immigration and allowing this situation to fester, continue and boil over.”

“Well, I'm outraged that Arizona is violating federal immigration law - and the constitution incidentally -- and going vigilante. Guess we're even in our outrage.”
“I agree. I'm not against gay marriage and was a single mother myself. It was hard. I didn't date or go out. His father was not involved. My son had some troubles but now is 26, lives on his his own, works full time, is a father.
“Also I think these kids have too much time on their own. If there are even two parents in the household they are both likely working. Come home exhausted and don't have the energy to deal with a beligerent teen.”
