“I've been saying it for nearly 10 years. Restore Glass-Steagall. It was repealed under Clinton and that was a HUGE mistake. This may be the first time I disagree with the Obama Admin.”
Dosadi replied on Nov 23, 2009 at 19:17:44
“You cannot restore this act without the permission of the bankers. This country, this world is all about them. We are lucky they even let us talk about it. Trust me, if you start messing with the banks ability to con the average man someone will end up sleeping with the fishes.”
US Debt A 'Phantom Menace,' Krugman Argues
Commented Nov 23, 2009 at 13:54:38 in Business
“Oh my god. Who are you Jerry? Who abandoned the real economy? Who embraced the Wall Street heathens? Who dithered while our national treasure was poured into Iraq and Afghanistan? It was Dick and his mob - each had their role to play. To blame it now on Obama is like blaming the first responders after 9/11 - that they didn't do enough to save lives. Come on. I am so sick of self-righteous conservatives who stood by and did NOTHING while the bush admin pillaged this country. Talk about populist anger. Be careful what you ask for.”
US Debt A 'Phantom Menace,' Krugman Argues
Commented Nov 23, 2009 at 13:48:11 in Business
“And we're going to listen to the fear mongers on Wall Street . . . why? Their only concern is that the economy and those of us imprisoned by it - The American People - stay afraid and continue to allow them to ride roughshod over all of us with their billions in bonuses. Give me Paul Krugman any day of the week - in fact - I' starting to get pissed of with Obama for listening to the as swipes that got us into this debacle in the first place.”

“Excellent post - I also thought long and hard because I believe Gordon Smith represented us well. It all came down to the fact that Smith is not pro-choice, and I knew that Merkley would always vote to protect our right to choose. I'm pleasantly surprised at his leadership and willingness to state his positions so clearly. We Oregonians are being well served by Wyden, DeFazio and Merkely. Go Ducks!”

Ron Wyden Wins Big Concession On Health Insurance Exchanges
Commented Nov 20, 2009 at 20:48:12 in Politics
“I agree Medicare for all is the way to go, but Wyden is and always has been one of the good guys. I've supported him since 1980 and he's always been a strongly pro-choice and a staunch progressive. You may not agree with this compromise, but who else would you have in his place? Think about it.”
who38 replied on Nov 22, 2009 at 21:38:04
“If Wyden is wonderful, why is he hooking up with a couple of hucksters like Lieberman and Landrieu? I don't know much about him other than that he is in the top ten of Congresspeople who receive funds from private interest groups, but "birds of a feather.............."”

We are a giant nation coming out of eight years of darkness, like the Middle Ages into the Renaissance. Positive, permanent change takes time . . . and we've got to bring the rest of the country along with us. At least those who are rational thinkers. Fox News Anchor Rebukes Democrat After "Fair & Balanced" Remark (VIDEO)
Commented Oct 26, 2009 at 12:05:44 in Media
“I was watching that segment and was appalled at how rude and unprofessional Greg Jarrett was. Not only did he talk over Andrew while Andrew was trying to respond to a question, he continually argued with him and blatantly showed his bias. Rather than an interview or a discussion, this was a staged 2 against 1 food fight. Jarrett is not a journalist, he's a news reader. This particular segment showed exactly how Fox is not a proper news channel.”
Beegood replied on Oct 26, 2009 at 12:14:47
“I agree, it also seemed obvious that Jarrett's microphone was turned up louder because you could hear him way better. Since when does a good interview that claims to be fair and balanced feature the interviewer more than those being interviewed? It was the classic Fox move of throwing in a token democrat and then either not letting them talk or trying to manipulate their response through slanted questioning.”

Rio de Janeiro Wins 2016 Olympics Vote
Commented Oct 02, 2009 at 14:54:23 in Chicago
“Congratulations Rio. The President helped make a bid for the Olympics because that's how it's done these days, every other head of state was there. I wish all Americans could travel internationally and see our country from the outside in. The arrogance and swagger we have displayed (especially in the past 8 years) has hurt us, and we have some mending to do. Our current president is doing a great job of showing that we are a caring, compassionate, thoughtful people (well, some of us are). Since WWII the forays we have made into other countries in the name of democracy have, for the most part, failed. People in other countries are resentful, even as we demand that they help us in Iraq and Afghanistan. The "prestige of the presidency" has been sullied by a president who lied to the nation and the world about WMD. It doesn't matter how long Bush has been out of the White House, that fact will never change.”
