Obama Accused Of Abandoning Health Care Principles In New Ad

“Somebody please explain to me why some believe universal healthcare cannot happen without mandated participation.
As I see it, universal healthcare should mean available to anyone who wants to pay for it. No more than I would accept my government mandating I get the swine flu vaccine would I want someone forcing me to buy health insurance.
I could, on the other hand, almost accept it any mandated payments went to a non profit or government run plan. It is appalling to force people to pay into the for profit system that rendered us 37th in the world ranking for healthcare.”

Doctor greed is an issue no one ever addresses.
$250 for a 10-15 office visit is ridiculous.
Try looking up the salaries doctors earn and you will be shocked.
Right out of residency $225k is not uncommon. Some specialties command $400k and up.”

“I have a pretty good insurance plan through my employer. My employer-paid portion is $14,000 per year for my family coverage.
Lets say they tax it at 20%. That's $2,800 in new taxes that I will have to pay for money that I never touch.
Didn't President Obama promise us that we would not see our taxes go up "one dime" if we make under $250,000 household income? Didn't he say that??”

Eris23 replied on Dec 22, 2009 at 13:24:48
“Not quite. Bush and especially Cheney were no strangers to framing the debate before it hit the legislature. This gave them much more room to exert private pressure on the Senate. Cheney was always on Meet The Press before something important to him was going to the legislature. As he put it, it was the best show because it allowed him to dictate the message. He literally said why people who would be against something were against it, before anyone who was opposed to it even said as much. Then, our lazy media (which is no less lazy now) repeated it over and over again, to the point where it became true. It pretty much directly implied that if you didn't support their policy, you were a bad person. And it worked quite well with the Senate.
Obama never did this. He let the opposition frame the debate, and never fought to take control of it. I don't care what Gibbs said. The lack of true speeches to really energize his base and supporters about this, all while he broke his promise on transparency and lobbyist influence when he secretly cut a deal with the pharmaceutical lobby, shows exactly how little he fought for the public option.”
