As for ignoring Afghanistan, the record speaks for itself. Bin Laden was trapped in Tora Bora and we took our eye off the ball and went into Iraq.”

Maybe Palin and her "anti-socialist" successors should ban that practice outright. Just hypocrites, and laughing all the way to the bank.

“Thanks for dubunking these VERY common anti-government talking points.
Here in Florida, I went to the DMV last month (without an appointment, because they aren't offered) to renew my driver's license. I was literally in the building for EIGHT MINUTES. I waited longer for the printer to spit out my new card than I did standing in line.
The other one they use is the Post Office. The organization that take my letter from New York to Los Angeles in three days for 44 cents is somehow the metaphor for government inefficiency.
It's almost like everything they say is the opposite of true.”

“I live in Florida also and I had to go to the DMV last week and renew my tag and license. The longest part of the whole thing was the signs test I had to take, and that's because I didn't want to fail because I was in a hurry (do you know how embarassing it would be to lose your license after driving for 15 years because of a stupid road signs test). I went on Thursday with no appointment on my lunch break. I walked in the front door and got a number and they called my number before I even got the piece of paper out of the person's hand. I had to look at it again to make sure I was reading it correctly.

Bottom line is that in this country we DO NOT TORTURE. It does not matter if we were tortured first, if we were attacked, or if the torture provided valuable information....(as is the current agrument from repubs). It's about maintaining the rule of law.
Example: If one of your family members is murdered, you do not then have the right to turn around and murder the person that murdered your family member. Once again it's about maintaining the rule of law.”

“I think we who are on the side opposed to torture are making a big mistake by framing the debate in terms of whether torture works. Sometimes, it does.
But that's not the important point. The real crux of the debate is whether a civilized moral society allows itself to sink to that level of depravity in order to get some temporary security. Throughout our country's history, what differentiated us as "good guys" was the fact that we didn't sink to our enemies' level. And those who did were punished.
Besides, even if torture DID always "work"...how many innocent people do you torture before you find someone with useful information? You torture people for information but you don't know if they have information until you torture them. It goes against our entire legal framework.”

You are right, if the right of a free people to bear arms is a right that pre-existed the Constitution, and was protected by our "liberal" founders in the Bill of Rights, then infringing on a natural right of man (to self defense) would be, by definition, an anti-liberal pursuit.
I'm glad to see a lot of self professed liberals here defending the right to bear arms.
That gives me hope, and a little more trust, in liberals today.
Now, if we could just get them to understand that when Bush, or Obama, mention God, or talk about prayer, they have not somehow violated the establishment clause of the 1st Amendment. but rather they are, like everyone else, free men, with a right to speak about and practice their religion whenever they please.”
