Is Conservative Obama Backlash the New Racism?
Commented Sep 09, 2009 at 14:38:05 in Politics
“Yes. It IS racism.
The President can't make this argument, but white men like me can. Why other white, male Democrats can't see that it is WE who must cover the President's back on this one is beyond me.
All these town hall meetings, the conspiracy theories.. . it's about one thing: race. Rank and file Republicans can not accept the fact that we have a non-white President. They will oppose (antagonize) everything he does.
racism |ˈrāˌsizəm|
noun
the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, esp. so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.
• prejudice, discrimination, or ANTAGONISM (caps added) directed against someone of a different race based on such a belief.”

Blue Dog 'Democrats' that's who.
The President knows where his base stands. The question is: do the Blue Dogs? Blue Dogs will be replaced in 2010 by the Tea Baggers no matter what we do. They are expendable. If we fail to USE our majority now, we may not get another chance.
The entire Party apparatus, including the President, was AWOL during August. Reid never should have allowed the Senate to leave for recess. We should have been knee-deep in a month long filibuster by now. A filibuster that would have exposed the Republicans and Blue Dogs for the anti-American corporate whores that they really are.”

I will NOT donate one more penny or spend ANY time volunteering until the DNC assures me that it will cut off Party funds to Blue Dogs and others who refuse to support the Public Option. If Democrats fail to pass a strong Public Option (Medicare for all) I will be voting for the Green Party next election cycle.

“This is probably the single most important post on HP right now.
Every teenager understands this theory: if you want to stay out until midnight, ask if you can stay out until 2 in the morning.
It also explains what I think Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid misunderstands about his role. He and other members of Congress should be playing the role of 'bad cop' so that the President can then 'moderate' from the top as 'good cop.'
By running to the center, we (the left) give our leaders no room to negotiate. This is how the 'center' becomes the 'center right.' This is how we lose.”

He seems to actually believe that whatever he says is truth, simply because he spoke it. I could go on but he's not worth it. “I created a "Google Alert" for the EFCA back in February (if you don't know what a "Google Alert" is, Google it). The daily stream of outright lies about the act is mind numbing. But, this is not a rant against Google. Google shows you what is out there and it does an excellent job. My rant is against, for lack of a better term, the Liberal Establishment.
The lack of response from the Left is disheartening. In fact, I only find out about Huffington Post articles like this one via the Google Alert - rarely are they given front page attention on Huffington Post... and even then, their pages are adorned with anti-EFCA "Ads By Google" when I get here. There are four on this page right now. Three at the top and one at the bottom.
Sloppy, Huffington Post, sloppy.
In addition, my beloved MSNBC gives us the mind numbing rerun of its prime time line up over and over during week nights and then goes completely AWOL on weekends (when working people might actually be able to watch) to offer up hour after hour of life-in-prison reality tv, serial killer biographies and pedophile stake-outs. They were, of course, quick to bend over backwards to cover and explain the recent 'tea bag movement.' A 'movement' which could neither explain itself or offer a cohesive message.
What a waste of spectrum. What a waste of the 2008 mandate. What a missed opportunity for change.”
