“Puh-leaze.

The next plane bomber will have the explosive up his r3ar end, not in an obvious package. Those fancy, expensive airport scanners they're mobilizing now? USELESS!! They don't X-ray anyone. You will need an X-ray to detect what the next bomber will deliver. And you know they're gonna do it as long as we continue to meddle in the Middle East.

We've all been p0wned due to fear and stupidity.”

"Avatar" And Religion: Jonah Goldberg's Take

“I saw the movie in 3D IMAX and I have no interest in other people's gods either.

It was a movie. It was a movie that had nothing whatsoever to do with Catholicism. It was indeed based on that race's recognition of and ABILITY to tap in to the interconnectedness of their world. If humans had the *instant* ability to tap into the underlying interconnectedness of the web of life we would have no religion whatsoever. There would be no need for it. Sadly, since humans lack that 'organ' and the vast majority of humanity is undereducated, codified myths and superstition reign instead. That's because we have higher consciousness. Higher consciousness can create works of art, feelings of ecstasy -- and even imagine there are invisible beings.”

“The fact is we do have this ability. We have simply been taught to ignore it.
It seems to me the Na'vi spitituality is quite close to that of indiginous people...the interconnectedness of life, the value of all creatures...and those that seek to exploit them or their land seem very familiar too.
You know, the same people who laugh at "tree huggers" and seem to revel in destroying anything that isn't like them”

“It is religion in general and Islam in particular that is at the root of 99% of the terrorism in the world today. Islam today is in its 'Middle Ages'. Christianity went thru this phase, too. It lasted a very long time in Christendom. It's better now in the West, but it's just been replaced by another brand of equally lunatic believers.”

“I already boycott the MSM. I no longer watch any of the cable or broadcast news channels. Haven't done so since the election. The TV in the kitchen, which used to be my AM news source, is collecting dust. Poor remote. Sometimes I can't even find it.”

StJames replied on Dec 30, 2009 at 07:52:00

“I know exactly what you mean. I watch almost nothing of television "news" once it awhile I will tune into my local news 1/2 hour...but as it is mostly murder & mayhem and celebrity gossip (there's always something going on here in Palm Beach Cty. FL) that is becoming so rare as to be almost never.

I find it worrisome that so many Americans, from both sides of the political divide, rely on television for all of their information. Nobody wants to 'think' any longer. It is the single greatest reason we are in the mess we are in presently.”

“Look at that. We're being held hostage by a young man who believed rather than knew. We're being held hostage by a young man who believed that his very own body was something to be tormented by.

This is what the Middle Ages was all about. This is why fundie religion needs to be eradicated from the human race. This man is mentally ill and uses his religion in a failed attempt to fix himself up. Indeed, he even failed in his attempt to blow up that plane. HE IS A FAILURE anyway you look at it.

We are all being held hostage by a mentally ill boy who used religion as an excuse to project his own self-hatred at everyone else. As a species we are REGRESSING rather than progressing as the 21st century continues on. It will continue on without us as while religious nutcases get the upper hand.

Yep, the primary cause of the current political turmoil about what to do with TSA and airport security is religion.”

DoubtingThomasP replied on Dec 29, 2009 at 15:50:05

“While I don't disagree with most of what you said, I don't feel we are being held hostage by a mentally ill young man. We are being held hostage by an organization that feeds on young men like this. An organization whose leaders are too cowardly to do the dirty work themselves, so they prey on impressionable (and often unbalanced) young people to carry out their hatred.”

Mum replied on Dec 29, 2009 at 15:36:01

“Careful with the broad brush. It's not religion in general or even Islam in particular that made this young man pack explosives into his crotch. It was his own troubled psyche which made him vulnerable to the rantings and teachings of cynical people using religion as a tool to further their political agenda. I don't know that I believe that Al Qaeda had anything to do with this, despite their claim, but our own history of violent extremist groups and gang violence in this country should make us very aware of the fact that a troubled disconnected young person is grist for the mills of those who want to advance their own causes and don't seem to care how many lives are lost in the process.”

“The terrorists have won. Fundamentalist Islam has taken over in the US.

The so-called shoe bomber FAILED. This Nigerian man FAILED. Yet, I have to take my f**k1ng shoes off altho I don't look Middle Eastern and have no accent. Now this.

We are not safer. Not at all. YOU and I have a better chance of being killed in a CAR ACCIDENT than on any airplane flight. YOU AND I have a better chance of being struck by lightening than being killed in a plane.

Yet, because Americans are too stupid to know the basics of statistics and are too stupid to question authority, we all suffer greater and greater amounts of restrictions in our daily lives.

You may call this an inconvenience. I call this the slow introduction to totalitarianism because of RELIGION. This is the end result of the adherence to RELIGION. All religion starts because of zealotry. All religions' first adherents are fanatics. Those on the periphery adhere because they're mentally ill. It continues to cascade down into all of civilization until we're all stuck under the same umbrella of oppression.

Welcome to the 21st century.”

“This is why I don't care about this incident. It's IRRELEVANT. One incident in 1,000,000+ flights since 9/11 and the trolls are in a TIZZY. You have a better chance of being killed in an automobile accident than something like this. You have a better chance of being killed by a stray LIGHTENING strike than in an incident like this. You have a better chance of being killed by a HEART ATTACK than a plane being downed by a terrorist.

FEAR!!! Keep the people fearful!!! Spend billions of MY tax dollars to keep us AFRAID!!!

If world gov'ts won't bother to do anything about so-called terrorists, after they put so-called terrorists on their 'lists', then I do not need to be on alert for stray bags in an airport. Ever. So, stop the ridiculous recorded messages about being on permanent orange alert status and about us needing to be vigilant about other people's luggage. Stop making me take my shoes off.

Name one time in the last 8 years (since 9/11) when a passenger in any airport alerted 'officials' to a stray piece of luggage that amounted to anything.”

Terrorists spent a few hundred thousand for 911 and we've spent trillions of $$ on our reaction and have accepted a life in a constant fear. In that respect terrorists are clearly winning.”

I don't think this is a joke or funny at all. Nobody expected the hatred that Muslim Terroists have for America or Jewish people to end over night. Everybody(with some sense) knows that President Obama is NOT a Muslim. Also too just as many in the US are skeptical about a Black President with a Muslim father many Muslims abroad are as well.

While the Nations Conservative Sore Losers pray for an attack, they risk an attack backfiring on them.
