Arianna On Olbermann: Glenn Beck Is "Morally Liable" For His Words "If Violence Ensues From What He Says" (VIDEO)

Commented Nov 20, 2009 at 11:17:14 in Media

“Watch the clip. These were not ad homonym attacks. They did go after his words and so-called theories.
People like him are dangerous and must be exposed for who they are.
Throughout history during times of crisis people have been the most vulnerable and most easily influenced by fear mongers like Beck and Cheney.”

And speaking of fear-mon.gering, this is what you folks are doing with Beck. He gets a lot of d.e.ath threats, and has very heavy security, and this is why.”

You don't go around stoking fear and hatred then think you can get away with it with a little disclaimer.
Nonsense.”

“Fear & hatred? I do not see that. He reports what he thinks he sees happening and who & what's behind it. If George Bush were still in office and you were aware of the slamming Beck did of him (which, if you'd taken the time to notice before, Beck actually did a great deal of), would you be so critical? Didn't think so.”

An Open Letter to Harry Reid on Controlling Health Care Costs

Commented Nov 14, 2009 at 18:41:26 in Politics

“Harry, are you paying attention?
I know you don't like it when people presume to tell you how it is, given the size of your ego, but unless you can dismiss the fate of the 40,000 plus people who will die the next year and another 40,000 the year after that because you think passing a bill, any bill, with 60 votes is more important, you will swallow your ego this once and do the right thing”

“Republicans and conservative Democrats - and Lieberman - do everything they can to weaken health care reform then complain that it's weak.
No one who claims to be reasonably objective can fail to see through these antics.”

michellbrow replied on Nov 13, 2009 at 12:57:52

“No it is weak because it SUCKS. It does nothing to reduce the COST of healthcare. Everyone keeps talking about this government option or private insurance. It does not matter who is insuring us when the actual COST of healthcare is not being dealt with. I agree we do need reform but not a 1900 page bill with all the goodies. Just fix what is broken, and the entire system is not.”

The really sad part is the mayor of Mount Vernon gave him a hero's welcome a few weeks ago and presented him with a key to the city.
I hereby apologize to the world for the mayor of Mount Vernon and for Glenn Beck.”

Obama One Year Later: The Audacity of Winning vs. The Timidity of Governing

Commented Nov 03, 2009 at 06:33:09 in Politics

“It's easy to loose track of how deep we had sunk as a nation under Bush and how far we have come since he left.
It didn't take long after Obama took office to start us in a new path of national honor and decency. Very quickly, health care for children was reinstated, diplomacy as a political tool, was reestablished. He massively improved respect around the world, a turning of the economy, the Constitution was restored as more than just a "quaint" document.
We have a lot yet to do - not just him - he can't do it alone. Unfortunately, all Republicans and some conservative Democrats fail to help lead, follow, or even to get out of the way. They would rather the country fail than to see President Obama succeed.
We are no longer concerned about when an out-of-control administration is going to find an excuse to invade Iran. Our efforts now are focused on repairing the damage of the previous administration.
He could be doing better - much better - but he's doing OK given the hand he's dealt.”

If every single incumbent was voted out of office starting in 2010, you can imagine this would send a message to every elected official: Work for the people or go to work somewhere else.

We've become so wimpy. That' s why we're ruled by half-men and their corporate controllers.”

What Olympia Snowe's Support Could Mean

Commented Oct 14, 2009 at 11:17:10 in Politics

“With all due respect to Mr. Mitchell, Olympia Snowe is no moderate. She is very effective in watering down progressive legislation and getting away with it. She scuttled a large portion of the recovery package and is doing the same now with health care reform.
A proposal with no public option is not health care reform at all. It is complete capitulation to the insurance companies.
She proposes something called a "trigger". A trigger is a sell-out pure and simple and will be the bullet that kills meaningful health care reform if allowed in as a substitute for a public option.”
