If he really believed in his actions in Afghanistan, Iraq, and the secret war in Pakistan, the honorable thing to do would have been to declined the Prize.
I do not respect him for accepting the Peace Prize - it is the ultimate in hypocricy, and probably vanity, as well.”

“Reading is not always comprehending, and Arianna is hardly a historian or political analyst. Yes the problem is Now with Pakistan, but that does not mean it is the source of the problem. It began in Afghanistan and that is still where the main problem is.
Your take is to treat the fever without concern for the reason for the fever. IT was Bush's neglect of Afghanistan that allowed Pakistan to become destabilized.
Your analysis is complete false. Pakistan is an Ally and a Nuclear Power. What would you suggest in Pakistan to solve any of the problems in the area. Are we to invade?
Obama has a well formed Pakistan Policy but that is not the main issue. A destabilized Afghanistan - a lack of stability that we caused in the last 8 years - is the most serious issue in that part of the world.”

“Commander-in-chief yes but he and these other recent Presidents act as if the military are their own private legions... .
Its not all Obama's fault here. Its the pathetic US congress which has given up its constitutional authority. There needs to be a congressional debate and declaration of war or amend the constitution. Obama has no authority to order US military troops to go and fight a war overseas. Whatever it was that the congress gave the Bush administration after 911 needs to be reviewed and debated at the very least.
This whole business of letting the president have total control of the armed forces is an anachronism of the cold war, when because of the nuclear arms race with the soviets it was thought that the president needed to respond to a first strike of nuclear weapons. The cold war is over. The tailban and Al Queda do not pose that mortal a threat to the United States. Period.
We would have a lot less trouble and troops all over the planet if the congress would get off their collective a**** and bring our country back the republic it was before 1945. The founding fathers must be turning in their graves to see what their project has become.”

“You are right, except, with the unfair trade agreements putting the American worker at a serious disadvantage, nothing will change.
There is no incentive for companies to keep their work force on American soil - so sad - nor, is there a penalty leveled at these companies either. In fact, they are permitted to be headquartered in the Cayman Islands to AVOID taxes, just exaserbating the tax burden on the already devasted American worker.
The American government works AGAINST the welfare of its citizens. It answers to the powerful corporations who keep their palms greased with campaign financing funds.
The only solution is Public Financing to stop this increasingly stilted position against the American public”
