My Daughter's on the No Fly List

“He never said that they don't get there early, he said that it's ridiculous that his daughter is tagged every time they fly.”

“And the ORDERS came from the Pentagon, which was subject to NIXON. I'm not saying that he was the one who said "Go to Kent State, and if they give you any trouble, shoot them", I'm saying that the Nixon administration had as much to do with Kent State as Ike had with Vietnam, or maybe a little more.”

“Yeah, that's why my ship (when I was in the Navy...) was sent out in 1999 with orders to shoot tomahawks into the camp where Bin Laden was staying, right? The fact that we didn't is because the REPUBLICANS in the Congress came to Clinton and told him that he COULDN'T attack right then because the Saudis had just landed a plane there. We waited a week trying to convince the Saudis to leave, but when they did, Bin Laden left too.”

“Did you SERIOUSLY just claim that Clinton didn't try to warn Bush about terrorism? ?????????? ??? Wow you're den-se.... .
The fact of the matter is that Bill Clinton did more counter-terrorism in his last MONTH in office than Bush did in his EIGHT YEARS in office!!!!!”

“The theory behind no pressurized lighters in your checked baggage is because they don't pressurize the baggage compartment as high, so they might leak. They won't cause an explosion (unless you've got several hundred... .) but it MIGHT cause a fire. THAT one I can understand ....
I flew from Chicago to Washington state for my grandfather's funeral in 2007. While I was out there I saw a Zippo that I just HAD to get. I'd already paid for it, and then remembered the rules against lighters. So I had the clerk leave all the stickers on it, so it'd be OBVIOUS that it hadn't ever been used.... They almost told me to throw it away, but let me check it at the last minute when I pointed out that I'm a veteran... .”

“On the no-fly list there's only about 4,000 names. On the terrorist watch list that the underwear bomber was on, there's around 550,000 names, but no restrictions on flying while on that list (though you DO have to go through extra screening usually, when you're in an American airport anyways... )”

“And when I was driving cross country in 2002 for the US Navy I stopped for the night at my dad's house in Arizona, where I read in the news about a WW2 Vet, the only living recipient of the Medal of Honor in Arizona, and a former President of the NRA. He was travelling to West Point to give a speech to the cadets, and got stopped by airport security for two reasons:
1) He was carrying his Medal of Honor, at the request of the Commandant of West Point, to show the cadets what it looked like.
2) He had, on his keychain, a solid sterling silver slug in the shape of a .22 round.
The security guard OBVIOUSLY didn't know what he was talking about, because he said that the Medal of Honor could be used as a weapon....
But either way, profiling based on RACE will not work. Profile based on BEHAVIOR! It's MUCH more effective, costs less money, and you tend not to have 6 year olds assumed to be terrorists when they are travelling with their parents to go see grandma!”

“RACIAL profiling MIGHT have stopped this guy at the expense of BILLIONS of dollars and HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of wasted hours!
BEHAVIORAL profiling almost certainly would have caught him, and would even catch a white guy who was under the same circumstances (something that your much vaunted racial profiling wouldn't do....) while NOT costing so much money or wasting so much time!”

My wife and children are all of middle eastern descent. My wife, oldest daughter, and son all look like they could be from the middle east. Are you seriously suggesting that they be held for extra security every time they fly just because they LOOK middle eastern, without any of the behavioral profiling which would catch terrorists who don't LOOK middle eastern too??????”

Second, you seem to be confused about how to beat terrorism. The fact of the matter is that you cannot defeat terrorism by simply starting a bunch of wars against people who aren't attacking us.”

“No, I said how bad CONGRESS would be at running health care. Since we're not talking about Congress becoming a part of the executive branch of the government, problem solved. Since Medicare and Medicaid BOTH have such high satisfaction ratings, and since they BOTH have very low costs, they are OBVIOUSLY better than private insurance, which has very LOW satisfaction rates and very HIGH costs!”

Second, why would we be talking worldwide? That includes such activities as the Palestinians against Israel, which don't count because they aren't Islamic extremists, they are people trying DESPERATELY to get some aspect of a normal life.
Third, 32 is the number shown elsewhere on HuffPo in the last couple of days. Tell you what, for the sake of argument DOUBLE it and you're STILL having fewer people in danger of terrorism than in danger of dying from a lack of health insurance!”

Yes, the government has a MUCH better track record than the private business model.”

You just argued yourself out of your own point.”
