“Nobody wants to be sick or hurt. But being pregnant is a choice. Having an abortion is a choice. And thats where medical insurance stops. If a female wants the abortion rider she should pay a premium for it.
Why should others be asked to pay for something that can be avoided. Where extenuating circumstances arise then the medical coverage is there to cover it. I believe that the abortion problem does not belong in our laws. Pro choice should be the unwritten law of the land. Pro life is both political and religious or just plain " I want it my way " thinking.”

“The State lines have always been open. All they need is permission of each state and that requires licensing in each state. No cross over without qualifying. As for the anti-trust provision they should never have had that protection. Big business does not like two words. " Oversight and transparency ".

“You are correct. Insurance is regulated at the state level so we have 50 different sets of regulation. I worked for a life insurer for 20+ years. Getting approval to sell a new life insurance product was very, very, expensive. It takes, on average, 3 years to get approval in all states, NY having the most rigorous regulations.
I have to laugh when people think selling insurance across state lines is just a matter of saying it's so. In practice, it will be very difficult to do (not saying that it's not a good idea) but it is no quick fix by any stretch of the imagination. Here's an article that explains the challenges of selling HC insurance across state lines.
