Do Green Jobs Create Greener Americans?

“You have proven my comment to be quite accurate. It is a lot easier to categorize than to do the hard work to analyze. Inasmuch as socialist is not a derogatory term in most advanced countries, I do not take offense to that. But I do take offense to being categorized by someone who is so unenlightened. You are not a worthy adversary, so I'll bid you adieu.”

“Spikeykitten, please consider this note to be helpful criticism. After your Mao comment, I took a look at some of your other comments. It appears to me that you speak before you think or study. It is fine to disagree with others, but you must make an effort to disprove their arguments.”

“Oh that Mao comment:
Just calling a socialist a socialist
That is what you are - correct?

No reason to be ashamed of it some people like yourself and "others" just are.”

“The reply to the post was appropriate:
58 said they they were greener for thinking there were green jobs
and you can read what I said
How is that even an argument it is a discussion.
I did not say Mao in this thread until now Mao”

“Long before that my friend. It was after WW2 when ordinary citizens started to believe having a home mortgage to the hilt, having a new car that lost it's value almost immediately and having multiple jobs made them upper class.”

“Great post, Ahoyhoy. I wish we could have more such personal observations posted. It's very difficult to hide ones true character when being observed eyeball to eyeball. Especially revealing in the case of Daniels is that he did have character or manners enough to acknowledge your existence by looking at you and smiling. I enjoy talking with people who serve me. I have often thought that perhaps my attention was not welcome. Your comments have given me confidence that my attitude is not over-the-top.”

“Thanks everybody for liking my story!
Mitch would have only had to say 'yes' or 'no' about the wine, he didn't have to even look at me. Instead he turns to his friend and has him say yes.

Mitch seemed to me to be a guy of normal, humble ancestry, who has spent a bit too much time with richies like Bush. Full of himself for no reason.

Think about it: He was governor, and I was obviously living in the state he worked for--that makes me a VOTER. A good (or clever) politician would never have forgotten that. Seems like a no-brainer to me.”

Obama Considering Commission On Bush Admin Torture

Commented Nov 22, 2008 at 15:41:31 in Politics

“If the Obama administration does not investigate and than prosecute those who have committed or ordered crimes against humanity, it will be viewed by the world as being complicit in those acts. The US will then continue with its current reputation as an amoral bully. The violations of the Geneva Conventions and the unlawful abrigment of Constitutional rights cannot be ignored unless the new administration is prepared to be seen as just an extension of the last. However they chose to proceed, proceed the must.”

williamg replied on Nov 22, 2008 at 15:43:29

“Who said he wouldn't prosecute them? Should he announce it before he takes office, so Bush can just go ahead and give a blanket administration; or, will he follow the rule of law, and follow the proper step needed before any prosecution: investigation!”

“Paul Newman, even while striving for success in his chosen profession never lost sight of our obligations to one another. We have lost a perfect example of the optimally evolved human being. We should all strive to follow his example, but it is especially incumbent upon those of us who have achieved high status.”

“Both excellent points, thank you. But I just dread that my grandchildren will have to live under the edicts of such extremists. I remember back to the Roosevelt era and cannot ever remember having so many philosophical morons on the bench at the same time. I would rather take a chance on the devil that I don't know.”

“Thank God; but we're not out of the woods yet and we won't be until those four 1930's and 1940's NAZI types are replaced on the bench. They are the best auguments one can make against lifetime tenure. Now, there is something that needs changing.”

“I had no idea the baggage this guy has been carrying around. I thought that he was just your ordinary right winger. Bad enough a right wing biased commentator on a supposedly news channel. Worse is condescension he demonstrates towards colleagues daily.

Now I understand why he had to get off that panel quickly. He recognized that Rachel Maddow wasn't going to take the BS he hands out to others. Bad choice MSNBC to hire someone with such strong views, but a thin skin. Now, Rachel Maddow, she should have her own show.”

“I think that Chris Mathews’ behavior with the governor was appalling. He claims vast knowledge of politics historically. If that is true, he very well knew the accomplishments of Senator Obama and he could have easily finessed the situation and avoided embarrassing the governor, MSMBC and himself.

He should be ashamed for his poor preparation in advance of the interview; it was his responsibility to determine whether the governor was prepared for national TV. This “journalist” is so cocky, that he most likely did not even speak to the governor prior to his appearance and, what politician do you think would pass up on an opportunity to be on national TV, whether prepared or not.

Mathews has serious personality and civility problems that his bosses need to attend to before he does MSMBC serious damage.”

“Many people say no to pollsters. They are used to refusal. For years I've used a different technique. It stops them in their tracks and they have no ready response. I simply say," Of course, what do you pay." When they protest, again quite simply, I say, "Are you being paid at the moment? Why do you assume that your time is more valuable than mine?"”
