Too Big to Block? Why Obama Must Stop the Comcast-NBC Merger

Commented Nov 19, 2009 at 15:09:48 in Media

“Because they used to read people's email.
Because they throttled downloaders.
Because they should not be both a content provider and deliverer, controlling an entire media production path for 24 million users.
Because one Rupert's enough.
Because they are 4th from the bottom in consumer approval.”

Look at the shapes of the continents. North America is out of proportion with South America. Subsaharan Africa is reduced to almost nothing.”

I see an era of vehicles that run on virgin growth forest timber, the development of two new political parties: the Halliburtons and Blackwaters (bringing real political diversity) as well as the new "welfare mothers shock troops" moving in after the Iran air strikes.
Oh yeah, leave us not forget Attorney General Hasselbeck's inroads to world peace with one Fox news laptop per child.”

Palin on SNL: What Did You Expect?

Commented Oct 20, 2008 at 12:46:07 in Entertainment

“SNL and you did well. Sarah Palin also performed well and set up the jokes well. What amazed me is how she can sit there while really sort of getting destroyed by Amy. Look, we know that anybody can put up with humorous portrayals of themselves, but I really felt that while Amy was screaming at the dead moose "I'm an animal! And I'm bigger than you!" the message was clear: This is what she's made of, America. Cringeworthy.

And because of her what looked to me like full on in-the-momentness I felt like she knows it's over and she's just waiting for some situation like Elizabeth Hasselbeck's seat to be empty.”

What's Going On in the Oil Market?

What's Going On in the Oil Market?

Commented Jun 07, 2008 at 10:00:34 in Business

“Wouldn't another factor be the very existence of a bull market itself as regards oil? Doesn't that motivate the administrators of U.S. money and stock exchanges to assist as much as possible in that price rise? Isn't that their intended goal with all commodities? It's not my thing - - I'm just asking....

One other thing, wouldn't increased offshore drilling have an effect in about 10 years, doing effectively nothing to help today's problem?”
