“Oh-oh, you're a troublemaker, aren't you? "...THe major corporations would LOVE to dump their 55-64 year old retirees who now cost them a lot of money in medical care and prescription drugs..."

How dare you reveal the actual goal of the entire health care "debate".”

“Volker is as incompetent as the people he's whining about.

Back in the during the "stagflation" era of the '70s, Volker caused interest rates to go past 20%. "To fight inflation," he claimed. Problem was the cost of crude oil had risen from $1.25 per barrel at the start of the '70s to $45 per barrel at the end. The rise in prices reflected the cost of energy, not too much money in the system.

Volker's arrogant stupidity and narrow focus prevented consumers and business from buying energy efficient cars and durables to replace the systems that had become too expensive. He added another decade of poor economic activity to the recession of the late '70s. The economic activity that followed the Reagan tax cuts was a function of the years of 100-300 billion dollar deficits. The market collapse of '87, the four years of recession that followed, and the Savings&Loan debacle prove it.”

“Liberal2 says :Volker is as incompetent as the people he's whining about.

Stiglitz, the Nobelist in Economics says..

Paul Volcker, the previous Fed Chairman known for keeping inflation under control, was fired because the Reagan administration didn't believe he was an adequate DEREGULATOR and Wiki says "Volcker's Fed is widely credited with ending the United States' stagflation crisis of the 1970s. Inflation, which peaked at 13.5% in 1981, was successfully lowered to 3.2% by 1983"

I am faced with either believing Liberal2 or an economic Nobelist...what to believe..what to believe.”

Besides, medical evidence is that from 30-50% of all pregnancies end in a miscarriage. So just let's just add medical abortion to the 30-50% that are miscarriages.”

Considering those AIG execs damn near bankrupted the company, you'd think a mass exodus of incompetent corrupt clowns would be just what's needed. But, oh no, let's give 'em a second chance to destory AIG and the remnants of the US economy.

Two Common Sense Ways to Improve the Economy

“Speaking of such theft: I once worked as programmer. We bought a project management software that was "guaranteed" to meet our requirements for response time. It didn't. Three minutes for a simple query (the software only allowed one index) with only 17,000 records (hey, it was a long time ago). Vendor's tech support said that was optimal, best we could expect.

I figured out how to use an obscure command in the vendor's command set...got response time down to five seconds...,Yup, five seconds.

My company demonstrated my methodology to the vendor.

Next user group meeting (Costa Mesa CA) the vendor demo'ed it to users and called it their own. (I had wondered why I wasn't given a spot on the schedule to make a presentation.)”

“Duh. The reichtard tool speaks, but knows nothing. Yes, the bill was an incentive to buy a car which more often was a foreign car. But why?

BECAUSE GM, FORD, AND CHRYSLER MAKE INFERIOR PRODUCTS COMPARED TO THEIR FOREIGN COMPETITORS.

The unions did not require poor engineering of American cars, unions did not force American manufacturers to not build fuel efficent cars, unions did not force American manufacturers to use inferior materials, unions did not force American corporations to hire incompetent CEOs, unions did not force American manufacturers to go overseas and use inferior labor.

Nope, American car makers did that all themselves. Every time they skimped on a manufacturing step in a quarter (to boost their stock's price) they had to continue to skimp on that step, plus skimp on another step to further boost their stock price.”

“Yes, and a stupid one. (There's an old saying: best to be silent and thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.)

Term limits would maximize the power of unelected staffers and only wealthy people could afford a 2 to 12 year vacation from a job. Well, unless they cut a deal with several corporations to give them a job after getting "pro-business" legislation passed.

Therefore, what good would "term limits" create?

Much better would be public financing of primaries and elections. With repayment back to government agency if one didn't get a minimum X% of the votes cast.”
