I liked it when we called our War making division of the government what it was:

Then after world war 2 we learned a bit more propaganda and ever since we call it

“"Still Pissed"?

what was that wall all about? all the bombs they dropped was mentioned under that banner. I can only assume it's a 911 reference or perhaps it's another event that particular division of the airforce is "still pissed" about.

Seems unprofessional, and childishly vengeful. I thought the US Air Force would be a bit more reserved.

No wonder we haven't won "heart and minds" our hatred and vengeful retribution is a bit nakedly flaunted, perhaps we would do better if we kept such sentiments a bit less in the open. Jesus would be so proud.”

The Porn Industry Blows...My Mind

Commented Oct 27, 2009 at 17:24:06 in Impact

“The problem with feeding the hungry in the third world is that once well fed they make more babies (agrarian societies value large families)

Let's teach them (if they wish to learn from us, and only if they want our help) how to grow food successfully.

And watch your porn to get aroused as it was intended, don't think about starving children while watching porn; that just seems wrong on so many levels!”

VagabondSaint replied on Oct 27, 2009 at 23:54:17

“I agree with you about teaching them to grow food. . .the problem is that many of these regions are in areas that are very poor for farming - deserts, drought-stricken regions, et cetera. An obvious solution to that would be developing genetically-modified crops that will grow in such regions, and helping invest in water management systems to provide water to more people and irrigation for crops.

However, genetically-modified crops are very controversial (the British are encountering problem in trying to fund them - http://www.voanews.com/english/2009-10-21-voa30.cfm ) and some object to to them on religious grounds( http://www.cec-kek.org/English/Gmfood-print.htm ), meaning their implementation is unlikely to occur anytime soon.

Aside from that, the scarcity of arable farmland and natural resources keep third-world countries embroiled in civil wars and tribal clashes. This is only good news for gun makers, who would lose much of their revenue if peace broke out in war-torn areas, and for countries that depend on the best and brightest people fleeing these areas to be productive, underpaid workers somewhere else.

It's a simple issue. . .and yet, greed and human failings make it unnecessarily complex.”

Cries for Democracy in Iran

Commented Oct 27, 2009 at 17:12:32 in World

“I agree with the jist of your Article Mr. Pahlavi. As the former Crown Prince of Iran when it was a Monarchy you certainly have a role to play in the future of Iran should you choose to do so. (I assume you do since you are in the public eye)

Yet I must say that one weak point you have that creates doubt and hesitation regarding your motives is the seeming lack of any criticism about the policies and manner of governance of your late father's regime. After all it was a monarchy that was ruled dictatorially where the King remained involved in day to day operations of the country.

However well intentioned the Pahlavi Dynasty may have been, you must realize that the revolution against your father wasn't entirely mobilized by the clergy, there was a genuine discontent among the populace of which (we now know) your father had little knowledge due to the distance his royal court's advisers had put between him and the people of Iran.

Overall I must say I am please that you have not advocated a constitutional monarchy but rather a Republic, no kings no supreme leaders, that gives us hope that we may be closer to an Iran where no single human or political party has overwhelming control.”

HamletsMill replied on Oct 28, 2009 at 02:23:21

“Excellent response. This is also my view. The rise of the Johnny-Ahmad-One-Note tone deaf Islamic theocracy in Iran is indeed the very bad karma of the Pahlavi Dynasty painfully playing out in living color over the last 30 years. In the battle between Thomas Paine and Muhammad, Thomas Paine is going to win. Thomas Paine is going to destroy the cultural mindsets of the legacy ideologies of impoverished desert raider Bedouin who never built a city. We are now going to a different World Age. All bets are now off.

The empowering Cosmic spiritual energy is now with the INDIVIDUAL - NOT MASS GROUPTHINK.

Any religion based upon lazy entrenched clergy anywhere on Earth who produce absolutely nothing of any use in a society is completely doomed. All of the societies of the Middle East based upon it will collapse. The only problem is that we might collapse first because of the massive mismanagement of the United States by the ideological fundamentalist Neocon Taliban here that took us to mind bending destruction over the last ten years. It is the exact same personality type as the Mullahs of Iran and these people must be taken to judgment everywhere in the world in every society hopefully at the ballot box.”

Soulmentor replied on Oct 27, 2009 at 18:59:33

“Very eloquent response to a very eloquent commentary. As a man who watched closely and wept at the power and courage of the Iranian people during their protests, I commend Mr. Pahlavi and all who are making a contribution to freedom in Iran. It will happen, hopefully without too much violence, and when it does, I will share their joy.”

“News Media lost any credibility with me a long time ago.

I'm glad to see the internet exposing the utter hypocracy and manipulations of the main stream media.

The Cruel Dilemma Facing the Jews of Israel

Commented Oct 08, 2009 at 20:26:48 in World

“"Instead, they found neighbors who were not reconciled to their living again together in this tiny piece of land the Jews have regarded as home for 4,000 years. How do you share a home with someone who says, "You have no right to be here"

That's the fundamental problem of Israel as a state. REGARDING a place as your home does not make it so. The European Jewry which forms the bulk of Israeli leaders aren't necessary semitic, they're Europeans who converted, the argument of "return" has no logical scientific merit since non can really prove where your ancestors lived.

So let's cut to the chase, European Jewry for reasons that are debated to death moved a lot of money, people, and weaponry to the then, British Occupied province of Palestine and once the Brits left the rest of the conflict became basic good old fashioned conquest. Jews conquered the Arab part.

Yet writers of this article miss the point that as a conquerer you have certain obligations under the current international norms (depriving water isn't one of them) which Israel ignores as they say they're dealing with "terrorists".

Either kill a conquered population, (which may have dire consequences nobody can predict), or assimilate them. Israel neither has the option of killing a couple of million civilians nor the wisdom or humanity to work to assimilate those whom they've conquered.

You can't have your cake and eat it too. If you wanna be a nation, then act like one.”

oldschoololdsoul replied on Oct 09, 2009 at 04:11:10

“So true. Semitic Jews are not white but Arab brothers. Most caucasian Jews are converts who can't trace their roots back to the Holy Land. All is revealed in the book The Myth Of The Jewish Race. And yet still, after the Holocaust, one can see their need for a homeland so that it never happens again.”

“Israel want the Palestinians to kill each other, they have been trying to cause unrest within the impoverished population for years.”

DeniseA replied on Oct 08, 2009 at 21:59:32

“Why would non Jewish Europeans convert to Judaism with all the pogroms, ghettos, and abuse suffered by Jews over the past 2000+ years?

Maybe the Arabs don't want to assimilate into Jewish culture. Obviously Israel has no interest in killing the Arab population, since the populations of Palestinian Arabs in both Gaza and West Bank have been growing at a greater rate than the population of Israel.

“The pipeline dwarfs the heroin trade, with the pipeline pumping oil from the former central soviet republics (Translation for average Tea Partiers" places that generally end in ISTAN) through Afghanistan (bypassing the cheaper more stable route via Iran) and Pakistan to the Indian Ocean. US would have almost monopoly control (minus Iran but we're working on that) over the world's oil supplies.

Then we can pretty much tell China what to do, or all their new shiny cars and trucks will not run anymore.

That's power you can't get with hundreds of nukes. That's the real goal .

Which I don't oppose per-se, but we're a democracy, we shouldn't have policy makers trick the citizenry into funding and dying in wars that are billed as the defense of our freedom. When they have more to do with geopolitical domination.”

"It's when a fighting person's nervous system has been stressed to it's absolute peak and maximum."

In the first world war, that condition was called SHELL SHOCK

the second world war came along and very same combat condition was called BATTLE FATIGUE. Fatigue is nicer than SHOCK.

Then after the Korean War it became OPERATIONAL EXHAUSTION. Sounds like something that could happen to your car.

Then the Vietnam war gave us the ultimate white washing of the result of battle on a human soldier:

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

And now we're calling MERCENARIES: private contractors, sounds like a guy fixing up your house.

I guess permanent war requires a lot of bull___t .

“it's a very good distraction, he knows that Israel is a sore issue and very very unpopular outside the West.

He serves two purpose:

He gets the Arab street to admire and root for him, which otherwise would be difficult for a Non-Arab Persian Shia leader.

Second, it gets the Israel-firsters in the US to scream for blood and bombing, rallying the people of Iran around their current government.

THE BEST thing for the current regime in Iran is an Israeli or American attack, it'll galvinize the people of Iran (reformers and seculars as well as the regime) around their Iranian flag. (exactly like 9/11 did for the American people)
