“Zimmerman was too shy to say "I am going back to my house to use the bathroom - call me"?”

“He was told "we don't need you to do that". To which he responded "OK. However, after first agreeing to meet the police by the mailboxes (away from where Martin was) he then changed it to "Actually, can you have them call me when they get here and I will tell them where I am?". And the dispatcher agreed to that. He had to know that he didn't want to meet them by the mailboxes because he wanted to keep looking around. That is the point when he should have said - "No, meet us by the mailboxes" if he really didn't want Zimmerman following Martin.”

“Too much presumption - for all the dispatcher knew, he had to go take a leak.”

“How can "Peak Oil" possibly fail? It is a finite exhaustible resource we are talking about. And what do the Cornucopians have as an answer for $95 oil? If we have plenty - why has it gone up so much in price from 10 years ago?”

“Technologists had better work fast if we are going to come up with a replacement for solar energy being stored in plants and converted over hundreds of millions of years into oil, gas and coal.

At this point, technologists haven't saved us from having to explore for oil miles beneath the surface of the ocean FLOOR. They haven't saved us from $95 oil.”

“There are other reasons than climate change to move to wind energy. One is that coal and natural gas are finite, exhaustible items - they are only a temporary solution - and the other is the danger of nuclear combined with the problem of nuclear waste.”

“One of the things I don't like about eBooks is that they never (at least so far) go down in price. In fact, you can't buy a used eBook. With half.com allowing people to sell their old books, you can get great bargains on books the older they get. I think half.com now requires a book to be at least 0.75, but amazon.com lets people sell them for a penny.

The other thing is that these amazon/google/barnes&noble books are all protected content. You have to depend on them staying in business or you lose the book. It is unlikely that amazon.com is going away anytime soon. Google won't either, but they could exit the book business. And of course, we are all worried about Barnes and Noble.”

“I saw footage, probably on YouTube where Beyonce was in concert and brought a girl with cancer on stage and sang Halo. Only it sounded like it was pre-recorded. I know these pop stars lip sync on TV all the time, but if they do it in concert, the paying customers should be forewarned that portions of the program are not live.”

“The amazing thing is that even after the Ashley Simpson slip up, performers still go on Saturday Night Live and lip sync, in addition to being guests on prime time shows like Dancing with the Stars or American Idol and doing it. People just don't notice it. For every person who tweets "that looked fake" after the pop star finishes, there are 2 or 3 who angrily respond that it was real and that that particular artist just sounds so good live. And that is the case even if the singer danced around the stage and got carried by her back up dancers and her singing never faded or sounded out of breath.”

“Wow. Instead of asking "Should we have hosted the Olympics for 9 billion?" they apparently asked "Did the Olympics do a valuable job in cheering up a country in hard times?" OR "Was it a costly and dangerous distraction?".

I will make a guess that the poll was done by people who were hoping for a "thumbs up" response. A "dangerous" distraction? Did it cheer you up? Why didn't they just ask "Did the Olympics give you any pleasure at all or was it a blasphemous, evil, distraction full of hate and malice?"”
