McCain's Private Visit With Chilean Dictator Pinochet Revealed For First Time

McCain's Private Visit With Chilean Dictator Pinochet Revealed For First Time

“This was posted earlier by palvarado70
http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/chile/pinochet.html

I was curious to know who the CIA director was in 1973; it was W.E. Colby. He was appointed just 7 days before Chile's 9/11. He actually handed over documents to congress showing the CIA was involved in Chile's downfall.

"Colby offered significant if limited cooperation. For example, he handed over to the Senate committee chaired by Idaho Democrat Frank Church details of the CIA's recent operations against the left-leaning government in Chile. The agency's attempts to sabotage the Chilean economy had contributed to the downfall of South America's oldest democracy and to the installation of a vicious dictatorship."

“No surprise here. Pinochet was our guy, we (CIA) helped overthrow his predecessor (Salvador Allende) because he was unwilling to play ball with the US corporations who wanted access to resources located in indigenous lands. We helped install Pinochet who allowed the corporate firms in, and he turned out to be a bastard, just like 3 or 4 other Latin American "leaders" who were installed on the backs of CIA coups.
Think the Shah of Iran (Installed after we removed Massadeq), Noriega (installed after we assasinated Torrijos), and Saddam (initially worked with the CIA on a coup attempt which put the Baath party in power). All were "anti-communist"...”

“I think the point he is trying to make is Palin knows or should know that Pres Bush is not qualified to be Commander-in-Chief; he did allow air raids on Afghanistan that caused many innocent civilians to die. Obama simply said we must stop the air raids.

“I have to give you Cons credit. You guys are all on the same page when it comes to attacking Obama and praising McCain. Will you please explain Obama's assoc with Ayers along with Palin's association with The AIP . And as far as the pastors go, we know how radical her religious doctrine is.

"The fact that he is wildly popular in Hollywood and Germany " This is the status that McCain desires! He's boring, doesn't know much about the economy (he said it himself), and is just like G Bush. As of last week, I have heard the McCain camp using Obama's theme of change. And I ask why? Because they (the mcCain camp) know it has been working for Obama.

Palin has only been gov of Alaska for 2 years. It was McCain who said Romney was not ready to be Command-in-Chief;;yet, he was a full term governor. So if Romney has no exce experience, what makes Palin qualified to be a heart beat away from the presidency? And don't forget your candidate (McCain) has no exec experience either.”

Pulemerci replied on Sep 16, 2008 at 09:18:50

“Sorry, I thought most people know what the term Hollywood means. I am talking about celebrity actors and actresses and their political idealogy. Examples, Barbara Streisand, Matt Damon, Susan Sarandon, Whoopi Goldberg and the like. All great entertainers, but I frankly don't care what their political leanings are anymore than anyone else. I also don't think that most Americans care about their opinions either. As for his raucus appearance in front of thousands of Germans at a rock concert, does the uneasiness of most Americans of that need explaining too?”
