Why We Need Better Rockets
Commented Nov 10, 2009 at 15:28:40 in Technology
“Mr. Aldrin is right on target. Why waste billions of dollars on this when a company like SpaceX already has a rocket equal to the Ares I heading to a launchpad at the cape for a scheduled February 2010 maiden launch? SpaceX's Falcon 9 medium lift booster is pretty much ready to go. It will be ferrying cargo to the ISS using their Dragon capsule in freight mode starting next year. They also have a 7 person manned version of the Dragon capsule in the pipeline that will be ready in 2-3 years, long before NASA is ready to launch people back into space again. They've done all of this better, faster, and much cheaper than NASA. I say let private companies worry about getting people and material to LEO. NASA has been there and done that. NASA should turn their focus to long term planning for deep space missions to Mars, the asteriods, and beyond. A good project for them would be to take their time and figure out how to assemble a space ship in LEO to be used for solar exploration, letting the private companies actually take care of getting parts and materials up there.”

Why Sotomayor's Confirmation Debate Is the D.C. Equivalent of Rock of Love

We must NEVER ignore this kind of abomination. The funny thing about it is though the president wanted to not look back, the more we look, the worse it gets. So bad, that it cannot be ignored.”

“I'll tell you what. This whole stinking scam is going to bring the Obama presidency down if something is not done about it, begining with the firing of Geitner. If the Rethuglicans did not have their heads even further up Wall St.'s butt than the Obama folks, the administration would be in trouble already over this. The only ones that are pointing out the stealing that is going on right before our eyes are the folks on the left, such as Paul Krugman, the guy who really should be in charge of the economy. These guys have gotten away with wrecking the economy and charging exorbitant fees to do it. Now, they are stealing taxpayer money and charging fees to do that.”

I am so sickened by all of this outright financial domestic terrorism that I have little hope left that anything will be done for the benefit of the taxpayer, except more lip service. I do believe that Obama's best course of action is the expose EVERYTHING, clean as much as possible and be prepared to serve one term, if necessary.
If Obama doesn't have the capacity to expose everything, then nobody does or will.”

Threats of Secession and Other Recent Republican Rhetoric
Commented Apr 16, 2009 at 17:29:56 in Politics
“To me, it's not so much the sucessionist crackpots that are so much the issue, it's the silence that we hear on the right in response to the Govs's sucessionist comments as the author states. Is this what remains of the Republican Party? I mean have ALL the adults left? If you read between the lines, guys like Sen. Arlen Specter are ready to bolt and join the Democrats. That's why John Cornyn is kissing his ass trying to keep that inevitable 60th seat out of Dem hands. These fools are just digging themselves in deeper. The worse things get, the further they move to the right. There is nothing left but the hardcore zealots whose only purpose is to get manipulated by guys like Dick Armey. And yes, I am in stone cold fear that some rightwing zealot in planning RIGHT NOW to turn another federal buliding into rubble. Hell yes the Obama administration should be watching these folks. To not do so would be pure folly.”

Anti-Terror Strategy after the War on Terror
Commented Apr 09, 2009 at 17:20:42 in Politics
“The author forgets to mention that the Bushies also used the so-called "War on Terror" to mask their gross incompetence and theivery. Does anyone think that this fool would have been re-elected if not for the perversion of the 9/11 event? It was also used to divert attention from Cheney and his shadow government. It will take years to clean all of his filth that has been buried in numerous government jobs before he left. President Obama does not need to use excuses to divert attention from what is really going on, hence no "War on Terror".”

“Man, while these rethuglican fools jujitsu themselves, Obama and the dems are busy getting on with the country's business and doing so while oozing competence. Putting healthcare reform in the budget so you only need 51 Senate votes to pass it, that's competence. This is what you get when you have people who know what they are doing running things instead of political hacks. 2010 is not that far off and I just don't see these fool Rethuglicans doing ANYTHING to hurt the Democrats then. “If a country stops making things, moves its manufacturing overseas, and even outsources IT jobs for God's sake, while continuing to spend and consume like insane hedonists, what do we expect to happen. And now look where it has brought us. This is not just something that happened over the last 8 years either. Deals like NAFTA and allowing companies to not just move jobs, but whole entire factories overseas are directly responsible for much of our dilema. The only way out of this situation is jobs. No more trickedown bullshyt, jobs. No more trade deals that are detrimental to America, jobs. No more H1B visas, no more tax breaks for moving jobs overseas. It will take jobs and more jobs to get through this.”
digitaleye replied on Jan 08, 2009 at 17:11:57
“H1B visa is the only route of migration for people from Asia. Besides, many respectable scientists, engineers, and doctors are lumped with coolie IT workers under H1B program. I am sure you agree that US needs many of those people here. Major corporations benefit from having the H1B system broken so that they can create and manipulate cheap labor. The program needs to be modernized and monitored so that its hard to manipulate.”

The GOP's White Supremacy
Commented Dec 29, 2008 at 16:57:13 in Politics
“Problem with that strategy this time is that the Repugs are weak in the Senate and have NO pull in the House at all. They have no room for error with filibusters and that is the only weapon they have. It will be impossible for them to hold 40 votes on everything. Especially with the economy the way that it is. They will be killed in public opinion and lose even more seats in the next election. They just don't get that they are not the same party anymore. They are a weak sauce opposition, at best.”

“This article speaks to a foolish subject being peddled in the MSM about the country being center-right in its political views, while we all see the complete repudiation of the rightwing paradigm right before our eyes. They will use this as a talking point to try and keep Obama and the Dems from re-making this country and implementing the change that we will hopefully elect them for. This center-right drivel should also be ignored. The right wing has had more than enough chances and look where we are. To try and convice us that we should continue to follow failed and repudiated policies insults our intelegence.”

“Man, we are all in the same boat, but as Obama likes to say, "We are the change we have been waiting for". Don't just sit there and let this election be stolen, go to barackobam a.com and see what you can do to help, go volunteer to be a poll worker, preferrably in one of those states where we know the cheating will occur. Take someone to the polls, make sure all of your relatives and friends are registered and voting. Do something, ANYTHING to contribute to an Obama victory. The way the cheating happens is when we assume all is well and do nothing. All is NOT well and if we as individuals are not vigilant, this election will be stolen once again. All of that being said, if we do win, lets ALL get behind making voting so transparent and easy that this cheating will become a thing of the past once and for all.”

How Obama Can Demonstrate Real Leadership on the Economic Crisis

“I certainly hope Obama (or someone) speaks up for us, the American taxpayer, who is being handed a TRILLION DOLLAR invoice for the last 8 years of shady dirty dealing by these companies. They pay congress off to get rid on regulations just so they can steal when they KNOW that the government will bail them out when it all goes bad so they make money on both ends. It is unbelievable that all of these companies will take the profit from their bad behavior and hand us the bill. Oh, the conservatives are such haters of socilaism, except when it's time to bail their asses out. Then, all of a sudden, Bush is channeling Hugo Chavez, buying companies left and right. At least Chavez makes a profit from the companies his government takes over. We the American taxpayer are stuck with billions and billions of red ink. My God, what are we doing? I guess we'll just print more money, making things even worse.
