“So how much of fossil fuel emissions does China produce as compared to the United States? Don't know? We produce on the order of 18% of the emissions while only have 3% of the population. The U.S. can't keep a straight face while asking others to reduce emissions, when ours are so incredibly, disproportionately high.”
“I remember my dad being skewered in the early 70's, including a headline story in a Cincinnati paper as an example of terribly wasteful spending from a large NSF grant he had received. Seems my dad had a large grant to study chilli peppers and their possible cultivation globally. I remember all too well the ridicule. Chilli peppers? Really? Who cares?
Yet today, the same level of funding for his research would be considered brilliant for such an important crop. Careful to judge the importance of research too quickly.”
“Marge Schott was a huge supporter of the Cincinnati Zoo and its elephants, but very few knew about her (I did as my cousin worked with her). Her husband had a car dealership. So what? Nothing gives these owners the fame and publicity that owning a professional sports franchise does. Yes, Sterling will receive a great fortune, but that fame I am betting he craves will vanish.
Who the heck is Jerry Jones? You know of him ONLY because he owns the Cowboys, and I think it's the same for all these owners. Let Sterling wallow in his self pity and obscurity.”

“The team is currently valued at $575M, that's an obscurity I could enjoy wallowing in. You think this matters to him? How many championships has his team won?”
“Sorry, but to reach a theory in science takes a preponderance of evidence. Germ Theory is on the same level as the theory of evolution. I have a cold right now. I just spit on my door knob. You confident enough to put your hand on the door knob, then go get something to eat without washing your hands? Germ theory says you'll get sick. Don't worry, it's only a theory.”
“If it goes up by 3 hole feet, we are in a world of hurt. Do a Google Search and you will see how many cities in the U.S. alone would be in serious trouble. Miami, Virginia Beach a good chunk of NYC...but who cares? Moving those cities inland will be easy, right?”

“Maybe they can install giant fans on the coast and freeze the water”
“By your logic, a crowd of supporters would have shown the validity of climate change? So say there happens to be really crowded room full of scientists who believe in AGW and another room with 3% of the size of that crowd, representing those who did not believe in climate change. Would that lead you to believe that climate change was real? Because that would equal your argument here.
And that 97% - 3% is the ratio of believers vs non-believers.”

“It’s best to actually read the papers you quote numbers from. The paper you and most of the people on this blog site by Cook actual said 32.6% of scientist endorsed AGW: 66.4% had no position on AGW.
“No, Rand Paul is as clueless as you are. The Obama Administration insisted the "Small Arms Treaty" would not be signed unless the rights of the 2nd Amendment were upheld. Go to Snopes.com for a thorough debunking of the impacts of the Small Arms Treaty.”
“Dept of Labor Statistics show a work force of 153K now vs a workforce of 142K in 2000.
But none of this matters. The Republicans have pointed out for years that shrinking the Federal Government will greatly expand the private sector. So I fully expect to see huge job growth during this sequester as the government shrinks.”
Crispus-Attucks on Feb 28, 2013 at 21:07:09
“You think only 153,000 people work in this country?
And Max Waters says the sequester will cost us 170 million jobs.”
“I actually agree that we should sink the government down to size. Let's start with the Congressmen who are so anti-government. You don't like government? Fine! You just lost your job. Now the government is smaller.
“Well, Wayne, one way NRA could come up with the necessary funds you are seeking would be to cut back on your pay, and that of the Executive Director of the NRA. You represent a nonprofit organization, after all, and you really don't need that salary of $960,000 with benefits (according to your 2010 990). And the Director making a $1,060,000 in 2010 sure doesn't show that y'all can relate to those common folk who are buying guns to protect themselves from all those scary hurricanes/rapists/Mexicans, etc.”
“Well, at least they're a nonprofit that doesn't over-compensate their staff. I mean Wayne only made $900,000 in 2010, and their CEO only made $1.2 million. How is their staff supposed to live on those salaries? (Those numbers are readily available from their 2010 990).
And to think that folks had a fit when Red Cross paid their CEO $1 million years ago. Well, at least what NRA does is focused on saving peoples lives. Red Cross never did anything good anyway.”
“I bought a gun at a gun show from a private seller. When you do that, no background check is required whatsoever. It's a loophole that MUST be closed. Now!”
noknrc on Dec 24, 2012 at 17:56:48
“What state? It was not PA or New York.
In PA you can only buy through a licensed dealer. All internet sales go through a gun dealer. Private sales should go through a dealer to get the gun transferred out of the sellers name.”
“Utter sheer and complete nonsense. I was an undergrad science major way back in the early 80's, and the estimate of the age of the Earth has changed very little since then.”
21stCenturyThinker on Nov 19, 2012 at 11:34:10
“Lord Kelvin in 1892 estimated the age of the earth to be 100 million years old. That was around the time when some political bozo wanted to close the patent office because he said everything that could be invented was invented so there was no need for the office...
Now we are somewhere between 3.5 Billion to 4.7 billion years old just by the people who have posted here.
What do you think it will be in 2200 or should we close the patent office now?”
“I always love ironic comments like this one. "Another words?" It's "In Other Words." Careful who you call the dumb thinkers.”

“Just like a liberal, dont talk about the issue, attack the other person. So what I mistyped an A instead of an I.I have several degrees and make over twice as much as your daddy ever did. Of course you draw a gov check like most lib voters.”
“Not real tough to show that he DID lie to get us into war with Iraq with lies, claiming WMD (perhaps not a deliberate lie) and that Iraq was involved with the 911 attacks - an outright lie that he was well aware was not true.Later claiming that the war was necessary in Iraq because of Al Qaeda, when it was the war that allowed Al Qaeda into Iraq. All these points are easily verified on the internets.”

“OK... then I'll wait for your proof. But please... do not include things that are (perhaps not a deliberate lie). Just those links showing that Bush was intentionally lying us into Iraq.”
