“Great Article, and I'll add Acorn to that list of false equivalencies.
It's almost a waste of time for me to type what I'm about to, as plenty in denial will disagree, and I need not argue with liars.
As a result of Barack being elected, as a black man in America I realize that there will be and is a backlash in the form of media persecution of black folks. White Racism being more accurately termed as protests of white insecurity manifest, these insecure people cannot accept the reality of black excellence as it stands and wish to change that reality and/or the perceptions of it.
Thus Serena is evil, Kanye is evil, Acorn, Van Jones, Mark Lloyd, Valerie Jarrett, the Oregon running back, Chris Brown, MJ, the kids on that bus, the Jena Six, etc. Sure, Jerry Springer has been on for years, but all of the sudden the world is immoral and the sky is falling. To discerning black folks this is almost predictable.
In all other cases except when concerning black folks, America loves an underdog.
In our case, in the face of petty discrimination, the question is why haven't you gotten your act together yet?
We are cleaning up our community in the way we our currently able. I imagine that whites are doing the same. However, the denials of any bias lets me know that waiting for them to grow up is all I can do, and to do so with compassion.”

The GOP Is Too Crazy To Be Racist
Commented Sep 16, 2009 at 17:01:42 in Politics
“It is about race, but it's not about black people. Black people are the objects of scorn, not the cause. Mexicans, middle easterners, Jews, whaddya got?
This is racial in that it's mostly insecure white people upset at themselves and their own lives, and trying to scapegoat anyone and everyone else.
They're real beef is along class lines, but alas, it seems they are easily duped and, as the saying goes, clinging to guns and religion.
like ex-cons.”

“This conflict has it's roots in colonialism, a process which produces beneficiaries and people who bear burdens. The west ern powers gave p alestinians the short end of the shaft, and very little redress has followed, other than more shafting for good measure. The Serena Williams "Incident" Isn't About Racial Bias, But It Is About Bias
Commented Sep 14, 2009 at 09:19:33 in Living
“Great article. I'm black so I already know what that line judge thought: that Serena was gonna steal something.
She was justifiably pissed. Beyond that she was kind to Clijsters, and fine at the presser.
These two girls, their supportive father (now that's a problem?), their whole family changed the sport forever.
All you have to do is look at some of the comments in forums on this incident to know that Haterade is a popular drink.”

What is going on here in America?
We are living in a time when political "hat ers" are becoming more and more emboldened, thanks to their CORPORATE sponsorship, and the one sided, never ending attention they receive from the MSM, Republican leaders and FOX.
The teabagger march on Washington gives us much insight. White Americans holding signs with words that cause me fear to for our citizen's safety, as well as that of our President.
Was this really a political march against public health care? If so, why did so few signs mention policy?
Or was this actually a corporate led attack against a black man who IS our ELECTED leader? The wording on the signs held support this conclusion far more.
Curiously, the MSM chose not to air the many "colorful" signs carried at this event. Why? Isn't their "free speech" newsworthy?
How offensive was it to see and hear numerous white Americans speaking out, with such a grandiose sense of entitlement OVER Americans of other ethnicities?
This is America. We ARE and have been a melting pot for generations. Rather than support our storied history, the MSM is empowering those who holding extreme views, AGAINST our fellow citizens.
With all of the attention being given, "ha te" has become the new media darling. And it is not”

Then there were the appearances on the Cosby Show, at which point he strongly asserted "You forget, I'm going to be driving... the Vesuvius!"
Thanks for all your artistic contributions, and for sharing your viewpoint.

They'd say no, butt that's because of colonialism.

So I guess they would trade places with us, because it's already happened.”

“Great article.
And everyone that's sticking up for the cops because they have a hard job needs to realize that no one asked them to become cops. It was their choice to take that responsibility, and they did so because it was rewarding to them. For some it's a matter or the rush of power, for others the love of doing for others. But they all bear that responsibilty, including restraint and acting within the confines of the law.
Crowley didn't do so in this case, and he's been petulant ever since.”

“I am so not an Oprah fan BUT the woman has a huge audience and perhaps what Toan Lam meant (and this is only my interpretation) is that Oprah should be talking about this child, and other children like her, who are making real differences in the world.
They may not understand the how and the why of the mess we seem to be in in so many ways, but they do know when something is wrong, when it makes them sad, when other people are made sad. And perhaps that's all any of us need to know. If it makes us sad... maybe we need to do something to make us ALL feel better.
I'm tired of reality tv and ugly talk radio shows and screaming red faces on so-called news channels and people telling dreadful, dreadful lies because they don't like the colour of the president's skin. I'm just going to do something that makes a little difference in my community. .. and that's what Oprah and Dr Phil and all those other people who believe THEY know what the answers are should be talking about.”

The Unteachable Lesson: Can We Learn From Gates and Crowley?
Commented Jul 27, 2009 at 04:43:42 in Politics
“IMO the worst and first case of racial profiling is that of making God into a member of the human race, and then into a man, and then into a white man.
This is ridiculous, unproven, and has strong implications for how we as a planet view anything and everything.
To believe in a human god is to presume that we are special among gods creatures. This leads to a contempt for the rest of god's creatures, including all other animals and nature itself. This in turn leads to the mistreatment of our planet and environment.
It's a macro issue, but reflected on in light of the Gates Gate incident, why wouldn't all blacks be suspect, as they don't look like they're related to the white dude in the sky? Are they human, and deserving of being treated humanely? And what of all the other animals? Are they deserving of "humane" treatment? Or is the term "humane" presumptuous and disrespectful from the get go?”

Regarding Gates Gate, the end result is Gates will have a bigger platform for his work, probably no issues with police ever again, and Crowley, as long as he remains unjustifiably indignant, will be feeling the heat for his egotistical mistake for as long as he's a cop. Black people are very forgiving. Once he saves face he can save himself any trouble headed his way. Translation: have the beer already.”
