“The First Amendment refers to Americans having the Constitutionally protected right to speak against the govt and not suffer punishment by our govt for that anti-govt speech. This is absolutely NOT what happened here. Phil can believe all of the anti-gay/ anti-Civil Rights stuff he wants, but Phil's employer suspended him for that speech because they perceive that speech hurts their A&E brand. As his employer, they have the right to fire those employees they think are hurting their brand, and he has the right to not work for them.”
“I'm open to such weirdness. I grew up in a house that was built in the 1890s. Me, my parents, my 2 sisters, and our pet all experienced plenty of weird noises and unexplained things (doors slamming shut in the dead of winter when zero windows are open, hearing someone walk around in the attic or up and down the stairs when everyone in the house was in bed, lights, tv and stereos turning on and off all by themselves, dog growling, snarling, and barking at the ceiling or barking at nothing and then whining and cowering for no reason to name a few) so I'm open to the possibility of a paranormal cause.”
“Men are also victims of rape. Certainly if men want to be medically treated after becoming a victim of such a crime, they also must be forced to carry this special insurance to cover any surgeries, medications, or STD and/or HIV medical needs they may require as a result from a rape, yes?”

“I agree ,,,but the insurance is only for women ,,,however it would come as no surprise that even if you buy the insurance , Michigan will deny procedure , until you prove that it was a real rape , or a real act of incest ,,,”

“No, because this law doesn't stop treatment for necessary ailments, such as medications, STD needs, etc. It just stops insurance from paying for an elective abortion. If a woman is the victim of rape, and becomes pregnant, she still has the ability to have an abortion; she just has to pay for it out of pocket, like women have been doing for so many years already.”
“I'm not the most pious Catholic, but I wonder if Pope Francis would do me a solid and pray that any comment I want to leave may actually be posted because-- since joining HuffPo in 2008-- I have never, nor plan to now, ever have a Facebook account....”
“Oh yeah... like we should really take anything Robertson says seriously about ANY sexual orientation given that he happily told a viewer "he should move to Saudi Arabia so he could beat his wife" and told another viewer that "it was perfectly okay "to divorce your wife whom has Alzheimer's."”
“BeasleysMom: Mac-Ten's just mad because nobody would want to spend any holiday with him or her bc he/she is so obviously unstable and rotten inside. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving and enjoy an even better Christmas and New Year.”
“Seriously?? Project much, Mac-Ten? The only thing donated is the money and/or volunteer time we give to our parish's food bank.
Given that I've been a teacher at the same private school since 2000 and my Army vet hubby has been a supervisor at the same company since 2002, I think we're entitled to spend this very beloved family holiday weekend with our 11 yr old daughter and 6 yr old son in the home that we mortgage ANY way we want.
p.s....Your jealousy is showing, and it is not becoming.”
“No way, no how. After a very busy day of Thanksgiving cooking, drinking, eating and merriment, our last dinner guest left last night around 10:30pm, so, hubby, the kids and I went to bed and slept in late today, whereby I made a leftovers brunch of toasted turkey sammies, broccoli-cauliflower-cheese soup, and finished off the pumpkin pie, and we did it all in our fleece pj's and plan on staying in our jammies the entire day.”
“Hubby once "rescued" a border collie in the parking of his job, but truth be told, the dog somehow just knew all she needed was to find the right human to help her get home. The dog kept slowly stalking hubby as he loaded up his work things in the back seat and trunk of his car, and after more than an hour, he eventually got the dog to come to him with the lure of bottled water, and he was able to read her tags and call the owners. They had been searching for her, and were beyond thrilled to get her back, but shocked to find out she was at an industrial parkway (surrounded by very busy roads) nearly 6 miles from their home. Thankfully, she stalked the right human to help her get back to her human herd.”

“I've had this saying a long time, "We don't choose our pets, they choose us".
I've got a cat, that was neighborhood rescue, but she stalked me, for 8 months, I couldn't leave the building anytime of day, without her following me for a couple long city blocks, or try and sneak into the building. Some street cats just KNOW they want the comfy indoor life. Also snagged her daughter, after about a year, so she's coming around slowly.”

“My first BC was a shelter dog. She was an escape artist and could get over my 4' fence like it was nothing. We tore that one down and had a 6' privacy fence installed and she got out the next day. It took me a while to figure out how she did it. Finally I found the scratch marks in one of the corners. Sometimes these dogs are too smart for their own good. She lived to 17 and I still miss her.”
“I'm a natural born American with dual Italian citizenship. In the very nation that "houses" The Vatican, all contraceptives and abortions are covered under Italy's national healthcare. How sad that the same cannot be said for the healthcare that Americans pay for.”
“I'm Catholic, and there are ZERO reasons why an employer should be allowed to get between any employee's legally prescribed Rx and the private medical decisions between an employee and their doctor.”

“the "CHURCH CAN BE TRUSTED NOT TO IMPOSE ITS SOCIAL TEACHINGS ON "POLITICAL LIFE."
These were the words of Benedict in his first Encyclical This how I know that my voting is not tied to my religious beliefs. This is how I know my fellow Catholics are totally wrong when they declare otherwise.”

“You're right. Employers should stop funding insurance plans, since insurance companies picks drug that are covered or not-covered, thus inserting themselves into the employee's private medical life.”
