“Thank you, Mayor Art (sorry, I just had to) for the dedication to our City by the Bay. I was on BART that day, just pulling out of the Powell Street Station. I witnessed the City become a united entity. Still humbled by the sight of people directing traffic, motorists complying with the directions; the calm that prevailed was unparalleled til 9/11.
But most of all, THANK YOU FOR GETTING THE "FOUND ART" FREEWAY TORN DOWN.”

“I was in Capitola when the earthquake struck 20 years ago, and I was in New York City on 9/11. It is true there is a great deal in common, in terms of the unity, compassion, and peacefulness of the people. But one very great difference between the two events is that everyone knows it was an earthquake that rattled our beloved community at 5:00 on Oct 17. As for 9/11, many Americans are in the dark. 9/11 was an attack on America from agents operating from within the administration. The only people who are oblivious to this, are people who are informed only by the mainstream media, which is pro war, or as Colin Powell describes it, pro "Terror-Industrial Complex." Santa Cruz has recovered from the earthquake, more or less. But the United States of America is a sham and won't be restored until this travesty of 9/11 is responsibly handled.”
Blackface In French Vogue: Racy or Racist? (PHOTOS, POLL)

“The complaint about Othello, was not that he was a Moor. I am 'moorish' of Spanish/North African descent , yet considered "white" (totally different from a Blackamoor, such as Aaron from Titus Andronicus), but rather, he was a soldier, Desdemona would join him in the field. There is no mention of the type of marriage ceremony, which implies that Othello may have been Muslim, (odd really, since he was leading Christian troops into war with the Ottoman Turks) which is why, besides professional jealousy, Jago, a Spaniard, hated him.
Again, the role was written for a white man, just as Juliet was written for a 14 year old boy.

“Nonsense. There are REPEATED references made to Othello's dark skin by himself, Iago and others throughout the play. Over the years there's been a concerted effort to downplay the inherent rac!sm and jealously of the Othello/Desdemona story since criticism would be directed at white male psyches. And we all know they won't allow themselves to be criticized that harshly as long as they control the flow of information. You're efforts to obfuscate the issue with a lame Wikipedia entry just furthers this longheld tradition. I'll take my Shakespearean history teachings other that any day.”

“Since Othello was written for a white man, and, wasn't played in "blackface" until much later in theatrical history (i.e., 19th c.), is it really about race?”

“Shakespeare was English. The Othello play took place in 12th century Italy. It was written for a black man (a Moor from Northern Africa). And this topic is about the French. WTH are you talking about???”

Anti-Paparazzi Law SIGNED In California

“The law will make it easier to sue paps who use telephoto lenses to capture images inside the house, or the yard if it has a high wall. New lenses can capture images from up to a mile away, and tell me, would YOU like seeing pictures of your underaged daughter dressing in OK! or the Enquirer?
Didn't think so. As a person with famous people in her family, why is it so difficult to accept that a celebrity has a right to privacy and to feel secure in their own homes and backyards? When did they give up that right?”

“I agree with your comment and you raised valid questions. I hope my comment didn't imply that paparazzi should be free to do what they want just because it's their living.
My point is this. The law is civil, not criminal. Here is a possible scenario. A tabloid publishes unauthorized photos taken from a distance. The celebrity is told about this. It's up to the celebrity to take legal action. There is no 911 call to make. Celebrities who cannot afford expensive legal action will be stuck. They might file a suit with the intent of an out of court settlement.
Justice comes with a price. I think paparazzi will more likely prey on celebrities who can't afford legal action.”
