“I could probably teach the masters course of "The Wire". that being said it was easily the greatest show mostly nobody saw. I believe there were many reasons why people didn't see the show. for some, the content matter for some was too dark, too serialized, too urban, too thought provoking and I really hate to say it...too black. It wasn't Hollywood so people couldn't relate to it. it didn't play into stereotypes that most people love and the bottomline it told a very depressing story the decay of our cities and America as a whole.”

“I know why I didn't watch it, I didn't know about it. I hadn't even heard about it until the writer/producer was on Bill Maher and then I decided to check it out. I watched every episode on DVD and loved it. It was a great show and I was so angry when Omar's character died. I wish the show had gone on forever.”

“I don't know about "too black". We do not get HBO, so we watched all 5 seasons on DVD's from Netflix. I thought season 4 about the young black boys and their various stories was just about the most engrossing and heartbreaking piece of television writing and acting I ever saw. My spirit bled for each one of those boys' stories. A good story is a good story is a good story, no matter what the ethnicity of its characters. "The Wire" was an excellant series from beginning to end. I also think that although I was let down that there wasn't to be any more shows, I appreciate a beginning, middle and an end. Series like "Lost" that just went on and on become just ridiculous after while. (Hopefully they keep the plotline from "Flash Forward" short and sweet.) I recommend "The Wire" to all my friends.”
