Shortly after the claims of assault, Halperin and his buddy (also being sued) printed a “can’t we all be friends ” letter in the student newspaper addressed to the Athletic Dept. I guess he was trying to make the law suit go away or maybe he was just the Rodney King of Montreal..
Well, the libel law suit didn’t go away. Halperin had claimed in his article that he had “sources” for his information that defamed the Athletic Director with accusations of shady and possibly illegal acitivities. Halperin testifed about his sources. Guess what? The sources ( 3 athletes ) also testified that Halperin was lying and they were not his sources..
Following the libel case, Halperin was criminally charged with perjury. Guess what Halperin did then? He absconded. He fled. He went on the lam. He OJed it. After cleverly waiting almost 3 years to return to Canada to face his criminal charges guess what? The athletes were no longer available to the prosecution for trial. .... This not being a murder or rape case I am sure the prosecution couldn’t waste resources finding these athletes and bringing them back for this trial. Wasn’t Halperin clever? He sure gamed those criminal charges. Because the students were no longer available to testify, the judge was forced to dismiss the perjury charge. Halperin is very lucky he is not now a convicted perjurer.

He went to jail for bail jumping for all those years.”

“Rolling Stone did some digging today and determined that many of Halperin’s other assertions don’t hold up. The first line of Halperin’s biography reads “Ian Halperin is also a former winner of the Rolling Stone magazine Award for Investigative Journalism.” This came as news to us, so we looked in our own archives and discovered this claim has been greatly exaggerated: He did win an RS honor, but it was the College Journalism Award in 1985 and it was split among the staff at Concordia University’s student newspaper in Montreal. Halperin also co-wrote a pair of “Kurt Cobain was murdered, maybe” books, scandalous biographies about James Taylor and Celine Dion (title: Behind The Fairytale - A Very, Very, Unauthorized Biography) and a new book called Hollywood Undercover: Revealing the Sordid Secrets of Tinseltown (not exactly The Greatest Generation)…

As an addition to the Rolling Stone article above, the subject of that “award winning” article sued Halperin for libel. The subject was the Athletic Director of Halperin’s college. Not long after the law suit was filed Halperin claimed that the subject’s son attacked him. The son claimed Halperin assaulted him first. That sounds like Halperin’s MO. He regularly claims his life has been threatened after he makes accusations and people start to attack his accusations and he is finally forced to prove his accusations.”

“Why was Hasan being sent to Iraq? Was he being used to evaluate detainees for further torture? Many psychologists and psychiatrist were used in just that way over the last 8 years.”

“I agree that the filmmakers exploited the children and the community for what turned out to be a derivative and manipulative film to unfortunately became the darling of the PC film critics but it isn't totally Danny Boyle's fault, for one thing the major benefactor is not Boyle [who gets none of the massive profits.] The profit goes to NEWS Corp. which means the main beneficiary is Rupert Murdoch. I wouldn't hold my breath for Rupert Murdoch to help out some slum kids from India.”

“There is no double-standard. Angie goes in the front-door and Madonna goes in the back. Angie APPLIES for adoption in the country she is adopting from, passes all the homesceening and background checks first THEN she goes to meet a child, or group of children, the authorities select for placement in adoptive homes. She completes the legal process before she takes the child home. When she returns to the US with a child she has completed all the legal adoption requirements in the child's home country and that child is a U.S. citizen.”

“That story's not authenticated and the tabloids told the woman there was money in it for her. She said herself that she only was interested in the money not the child. Also, that isn't what Jolie was told. She was told both parents were dead of AIDS. If the Ethiopian authorities lied about Zahara's parents it is hardly Angie's fault. If I recall correctly the Grandmother brought Zahara to the orphanage and swore to the head that both the parents were dead. that is the only way Zahara was free to be adopted under Ethiopian law.

Also, Zahara was very, very ill and looked quite different from the photo Angie had been sent. Angie said the adoption authorities offered her another baby girl instead but she and Brad decided to commit to Zahara.”
