India's Ongoing Concerns Over Pakistan and Afghanistan

Commented Jul 6, 2011 at 08:18:57 in World

“Ask India for help! India has been helping the Afghan government build roads, power systems, schools, and hospitals. It trains civil servants and accountants, which Afghanistan desperately needs. It has already given over 1 billion in aid. But all of this has been done in spite of, not because of, U.S. cooperation. The US has never coordinated any of its work with India, and instead discourages India from interfering. Gen. McChrystal wrote that an "Indian role in Afghanistan is likely to increase ‘regional tensions’" because the Pakistan army doesn't like it. This attitude needs to change.”

“As they know well how this role is destabilizing Pakistan with continual intervention in Baluchistan, her hideous role in current waves of insurgency, very similar role as it play in separation of Bangladesh and this time with more effectively and efficiently.”

“You say, "Americans need to understand why Pakistan is an ally... This could only happen once the big shots in Washington jettison their version of the war story and keep their facts straight."

Americans find it hard to trust Pakistan as an ally after discovering Osama bin Laden right outside Islamabad. I don't think the "big shots in Washington" can change this picture by "getting their story straight"--- only Pakistan's generals can, through their actions.

Pakistan's generals need to stop supporting terrorism. Everything else will then follow. You are correct that the two sides have different objectives, but you are putting the cart before the horse.”

“But what about their arrest of Kalid Sheik Mohammoud, who is so far the only arrest made for the crime of 911?

No offense but you are complaining they didn't arrest him when you refused to tell them where he was. You instead decided to go in yourself, and botched it terribly, killing everyone even though they were apparently unnamrmed so that they can never be convicted for the crime of 911 and we didn't get any intellegence from them. The throwing the bodies overboard the boat stuff was just crazy. I thought the media was pulling an april fools day joke when they said that

So to this day the only true success into the investigation of 911 was done by Pakistan”
