“I was rather realistic actually. Throughout history, some people have always been ruled by others. The history of manking has been about conquest and will continue to remains as such for it is in out nature to conquer. The survival and rule of the fittest, which you have learned in elementary biology courses, also apply to humans I am afraid. I did not create. I do not suggest that it's pleasant. But I accept it as a fact just as I accept Newton's second law of motion in a celestial frame of reference as a fact for they're based on empirical observations which have passed the test of time and rational analysis.”

“Considering the fact that oil is traded internationall in an open market, drilling in ANWR wouldn't do us any good as it would be available to any nation for open-ended bidding. In addition, drilling there wouldn't make a dent in our dependence on oil. The natives should be thankful that we brought them to the 20th century. What jobs did they have before one wonders?”

Well, let's see "Maxim" - we seemed to get along just fine before you White Europeans brought sickness and disease, took our wildlife and slaughtered them so we had no food, used your guns and cannons to kill off our warriors and put the rest of us in slavery. Before you came we had socio-economic systems, traded, made our own homes, transporation, language and spirituality. Our medicines are still used today in over 100 products that help you with fever, headaches, cancers, injuries of all kinds and we were doing brain surgery before your ancestors knew that bathing wouldn't open your body to the Devil. So don't even go there wise guy, it just shows your own ignorance.”

Obama One Year Later: The Audacity of Winning vs. The Timidity of Governing

“Because the President is supposed to bring the country as much as possible and try hard in doing so. Unlike his predecessor, he's trying to do what he is supposed to do. The progressive are too impatient. They seem to expect everything to happen in a blink of an eye. People are in denial indeed. President Obama is not wavering. To answer your questions: 1) Matters pertaining to national defense are not decided on what the general public wants based on their limited knowledge and understanding of the issues. Obviously, the Obama administration is trying to do what is right. 2) GITMO is being closed but it will take time as there are lots of people involved whose status need to be worked out. Obviously, one cannot put a lock on GITMO's door, shut it down, and let everyone go at once, 3) Banking regulation has to be a fine balancing act as an too agressive (albeit perfectly correct) move my cause a gridlock as the financial industry create a further mess as a reaction. People look at such complicated matters with a reductionist point of view without understanding how the political power spectrum looks and then get frustrated when things do not happen overnight. Perseverance is of the essence.”

“It applies tp 63% ((33& obese, 30% substantially overweight) of American which is a very large number. And bad eating habits and gluttony go hand-in-hand. The servings in US restaurants are twice as large than what one gets in the rest of the western world. This was not the case in the 1950s. The food industry has figured out that by offerring more people will get addicted and that they'd keep on eating. Unfortunately, what they've found out turned out to be correct.”

“First and foremost, governing means prioritizing. Given the circumstances, President Obama had to spend a good deal of his time, energy and political capital on the economic stimulus and health care reform for the obvious reasons. Secondly, he has already ordered the closing of Gitmo, banned tortured and repealed unilateral warfare-based foreign policy all of which were in place in the last 8 years. I'd say, he's been busy like no other President in recent history. So what are you talking about?”

“And of course you sheepishly repeat what you have been spoon fed by the insurance lobby and are still willing to be corporate America's bi.tch. The purpose of health care reform is not only to insure all Americans but also ensure that health care is no job dependent and continuous, that no pre-existing conditions are used as an excuse to deny coverage, and that businesses become more competitive by reducing their benefits burden, and that the overall operational costs is reduced by cutting out as much of the middleman as possible (preferably all). Health care should not be a profit-seeking endeavor for a small group of people at the expense of the medical sufferings of millions.”

“Do you even read your nonsense? Had Medicare and SS been privatized, they would be now millions of people out on the streets, living in poverty given the state of the economy and stock market. Had the GOPs intend about Medicare and SS come to fruition, millions of senior citizens would have lost such priviliges indeed! So what the Dem's brought out in the campaign was factual and protective of the people. The GOP mob which is now suppressing open public debate of health care reform is comprised of lots of uninsured people. or Medicare recipients who yell "get the government out health care and don't touch my Medicare". I suppose you see the stupidity in such protest. Those id.iots don't even know what they're objecting but for as long as they object President Obama they feel good about themselves. I will even dare to say that the recent disruptions of health care public debates (townhalls) by GOP partisans amounts to anarchy as their purpose is to suppress open debate!”

Sarah Palin Resigning as Alaska's Governor (VIDEO)
Commented Jul 03, 2009 at 22:59:02 in Politics
“I am inclined to think that her resignation was an attempt to cover up something much bigger while I have no idea what is being covered up. Someone as ambitious and vindictive as Palin wouldn't otherwise ever step down. This resignation won't surely help with her potential run in 2012, and I doubt that she even can after this resignation. The recent article in Vanity Fair surely didn't help and my guess is that Steve Schmidt and his clan has much more to disclose which most likely would ruin her remaining political ambitions. In addition, there has been rumors about some potential wrongdoing in acquiring their current family house by the lake and the way the contract on the ice hockey ring in Wassilla was handled. Interestingly, the contractor who built the Palin residence and the one who was awarded the $15M contract of the ring are the same. Even more interestingly is the fact that the Palin's did not pay a dime for the construction of their homes as the contractor was Todd Palin's friend who happens to be the sponsor of his racing team and such. I am guessing all this would come out to light pretty soon. At any rate it is very damaging which she cannot survive politically.”
