America Without a Middle Class
Commented Dec 03, 2009 at 16:08:16 in Business
“I agree...bu t there has also been a redistribution of profits... with a smaller and smaller share going to the worker and a larger and larger share going to those at the top. Not sure how you change this in a capitalist society but I hope it does change or we will absolutely not have a middle class.”

“So you're saying it's ok for Republicans to run us into the ground. But it's not ok for Democrats not to save us in a timely manner?
Why is it that we expect so little from Republicans so that when they have epic failures, it's to be expected and no one blames them for it. But when Democrats fail even a little bit, it's a total betrayal?
I'm not making excuses for the Democrat's failures, but I find it interesting that Republicans can get away with creating disaster, expect someone else to fix it, and then have the gall to actually CRITICIZE the fixers if they don't get it done right away...... .......”

“It is clear to me by reading a number of the posts on this blog that die hard Obama supporters seem not able to understand what it means to hold elected officials accountable…which is what Arianna is attempting to do in her post. It is not yet buyer’s remorse but a frustration with an administration and Obama himself for addressing the unemployment issue as an after thought. Does anyone remember what the talking points were when the stimulus was being pushed by the administration? We were told it was to prevent unemployment from reaching 10 percent…when it reached 10 percent they said…”every economist got it wrong”…which is why the Katrina comparison works…. “None of experts believed the levees would break.”
It is my opinion that Obama got his priorities wrong. He should have had a plan that not only helped Wall Street but at the same time helped those on Main Street. Wall Street is on the mend and bonus are set to roll out at years end…a million here a few million there…while unemployment benefits get extended for those on Main Street. Another mistake was to first try to address health care without first addressing the deficit. Had he done what Clinton did and put forward a balanced budget and was able to show by…2016 that we would be back in the black….he then would have had leverage to go out and push a one trillion dollar program to address the uninsured and underinsured in this country.”

“Obama is in way over his head. He proves every day he is not up to the job and never was. He came to Washington with few established contacts, a brief career in the Senate, no executive experience, a poor to mediocre career in the Illinois house, and a neighborhood activist.
Each day it becomes more obvious Obama is clueless and the next Jimmy Carter. This is why congressional Democrats are trying to hide their fear. They're in a state of wholesale panic.”

“Throughout the campaign and his presidency, Obama has stressed that change comes from action by we, the people. What I hear and see is a lot of whining and little action. How many of you volunteer in your community, your state, and your country? How many of you write your Senator and Representative and tell them your views? How many of you reach out in your community by discussions and letters to the editor of you newspaper? Actions speak louder than whine!”

And do you know anyone who isn't worried about losing one of both of these? Give him time because he inherited a mess...you have to joking. Government is not supposed to work this slow and that you and many other defenders of the president seem to think it is, doesn't make you right. Change can happen quick as you saw with the bailout of the large banks....t hey are happy and doing fine thank you very much. You need to demand change. You need to hold your elected officials accountable. Stop...jus t stop please making excuses... Obama knew full well what he was getting into when he signed on....he wasn't living under a rock for all the Bush years...bu t he is living in the White House now and he must be help accountable and we should all be demanding more...not offering sad excuses.”
