“And the purpose of your pointless attempt at an uninformed ad hominem would be...? For what it's worth, I have never deceived a romantic partner.
Regardless, the commonality of a flaw doesn't change the fact that it is a flaw. Padding a bra and covering up a murder are both forms of deception, but they're not equivalent. Cursing someone out on the road and vindictively smashing an ex's car are both signs of intemperance, but they're not the same.
Are you trying to tell me that you don't care if a politician is "untrustworthy" and "deceitful"? Please.”

“It always takes two to tango. The woman in Sanford's affair is equally as culpable.
As far as sex and men and women in power, men in power are attractive to women, very much so. Most women in power are not too attractive, and most men are not attracted to them.
Merkel, Feinstein, H. Clinton, Thatcher? I think not!
That's why that happens. Perhaps women in power would be a good thing.”

Men also wonder about living, and break ups and slightly more than just T&A. All those one-dimensional "lad rags" like Maxim or even Men's Health just don't cut it. Not Esquire. Not the sports section. Not frickin' Ashton Kutcher or Brad Pitt. Or Popular Mechanics, although that's a good one. :-)”

“Mari X, I suspect we are both hurting...I agree with your comment, which actually doesn't really address mine, except for your reaction to my use of the "both ways" phrase.
I wasn't really referring to sex. Really, playing the field is mostly a drag, unless you can stay emotionally detached.
I won't go into detail to that, it would be a long post. Suffice it to say I'm hurtin' and a bit crabby in the morning.
I don't think it is in most women's nature to want to play the field. I think most women are naturally one-man women. That's how it works and it's fine with me.
So, if my admittedly curmudgeonly post was interpreted as unsympathetic or sexist, please understand that's not what I meant by a long shot.
Unfortunately in the realm of money and property it works both ways, I've both female and male friends who suffered financially at the hands of the other. I'd say it's actually better if both parties can bring some money to the table. If you are referring to the old-fashioned husband/money, wife/home paradigm then the best thing is to make sure you've got some sort of good settlement agreement ahead of time, no matter how much in love you are at the time. Or make it during your marriage. Gives everybody incentive to stay home.”

You know, all us tough men could use a section filled with how to deal with being a man in modern American society. You think it's easy for us? Especially now with all the "have it both ways" rules that women want to enforce?
Really. Men are just as devastated, if not more, by divorce. Plus, we get no slack when it comes to recovery. Just man up and work on your car.”

“McJeff, Just a reminder: Men have ALWAYS had it both ways, as you so discretely put it.
Believe it or not, some of us dumped ladies never wanted anything else but marriage, kids, homes and communities to serve. Our men changed their minds about what THEY really wanted and walked out without looking back. It does still happen that way with alarming frequency these days.
Unless a woman goes into marriage with a solid career, plenty of money in a personal trust fund and her own property- owned outright with no mortgage payments- she is vulnerable to the same situation I and so many other ladies I know end up in. As well, we are now expected to act like indiscriminate men and "play the field" when we are truly "one-man women" in our hearts.
I despise the artificial stereotypes of "Sex and the City". I'd personally prefer love, respect and fidelity -shared with one good man- over a closet full of shoes and nights out with the "girls" any day.”

“Part 3. Sheesh.
So my question is, why do many, almost all women, wear a cleavage exposing outfit at work and then get mad or react when a healthy heterosexual male reacts according to programming.
I think this sums up a lot of what has many men confused? Are you here to work or get laid? Most men at most jobs are there to work. It's sometimes hard to tell what a woman is there for.
Who bears the brunt of this dissonant behavior?
Men.
Hence the way males seem on TV, kind of messed.
I'm not saying the changes for women are bad. Far from it. But it has muddied things for men. Cuz we have no way to turn into mommies. And mommies have turned into daddies.

“I just remembered why I stopped posting much here. Too much hassle. Part 2.
Here's an example: Where I work, men's shirts, be they T-shirt, polo, or button up; always cover skin pretty much right up to the neck. If it's a T shirt, it's a round collar, and polo's have at least one button buttoned. Dress shirts are buttoned up to the top button. To have any undone, or show chest or chest hair is considered tacky. Men do not dress in any way that could be construed as deliberately sexual.
However, women frequently wear tops that swing down and expose cleavage, or at least the top of the chest. They wear blouses with buttons undone. And so on. These are outfits that have some sort of sexual element, no matter how casual.
As a man, and my male coworkers back me up, it is very difficult not to glance at the very least. During conversation, many people shift their eyes from time to time. Men do it to men. However, if you are a male, and resist the urge to look (we are programmed to), a simple scan that is no problem with another guy becomes a sexual look, frequently with the women reacting by pulling her sweater around her, a glare at the man, etc.
There are women who wear clothing that buttons up to the neck, or t-shirts, and there is no problem there.”

“Well, I do think any good-hearted, thinking American man is struggling with what it means to be a man. Of course, the basics are still there. Yes, men have weaknesses, but we are designed to be "strong", that is, we are designed to be expendable, more so than women.
As usual, much of it is sexual and political. Women have the upper hand now, and men are being pulled in two directions. This isn't a judgment, more an observation.”

“Another elephant in the room....masturbating as a male isn't all that bad. Considering all the emotional, critical and manipulative BS men have to go through with women, masturbating is so much easier. Not that I'm some sort of hot hunk, but I've turned down attractive women offering themselves to me because I could anticipate the amount of trouble I was going to have pre and post sex. And the sex itself? Not always that great.
Women seem to think that just the fact that they are allowing a man to have sex with them is good enough for the man. Not so. There are plenty of women that are selfish and crappy in bed, just like a lot of men.
I love women for the most part, but the games women play really ruins it many many times.

I do think that social networking sites as a concept will evolve, and they will eventually add more value to our lives, but as they stand right now they pretty much are a bad return on invested time.

“Caroline Kennedy was a prime backer of Mussolini Mike Bloomberg's drive to privatize--securitize & monetize-- the NYC public schools. That is not the position of a progressive.
This suggests that the always wealthy Caroline, like her in-law Schwartzenegger, leans towards the pro-fascist economics of Papa Joe Kennedy--which was held in check by FDR 75 years ago.
I prefer the economics of FDR and rebellious son John Fitzgerald Kennedy.
As a supporter of Hillary Clinton, I prefer that she not be replaced in the Senate by an obvious fascist.”
