“Thank the deities! Please know that most of us are very honored by this award. We share in it because it shows us that we definitely made the right decision last November. And I ask that you share that opinion with all of your friends. We are highly ashamed of the right-wing, conservatives, Rethugs, or whatever you want to call them and quite proud of our President!”

“That comment only has merit if she was like Michael Steele, a token Latina. There is no way on Earth the Rethugs could have voted for her if she wasn't incredibly qualified! Her qualifications made her the perfect candidate, not her race or gender. Her qualifications made her bullet proof.”

“You know there is something I don't get. For eight years, no, thirty, the LGBT community yelled into the void and got zilch for the effort. Now, when you finally have someone in the White House who not only says that he will change things for you, but is actually doing something about it, the community gives him nothing but grief, like his is the only administration to ever deny you full rights! It sucks that Civics is no longer a staple in schools or you would know what it takes to repeal a law. It's not something done overnight and if the President writes a memo to quickly overturn DADT, then that waste of a law will never be repealed and in eight years, you'll have to deal with it all over again. He is your only opportunity to change the future for LGBT children and you're mad he hasn't done it in the nine months he's been in office? How dare he take so damned long?! Yeah, wasn't like he had anything else to do?
You should help him by pressuring your congressman and senators to act properly, not faulting him because your timetable is not being met. You're so close to everything you've ever hoped for, don't muck it up with unrealistic expectations.”

“Excuse me??? Gives him nothing but grief???
The gay community was one of the first to embrace Obama during the primary, long before many blacks saw him as a serious contender. Many gays cited Bill Clinton's betrayals on DOMA and DADT as reason to back Hillary Clinton's biggest rival. Without the gay communtiy's cash, President Obama's dream would have died in Iowa.
What exactly has he delivered for the gay community to be eternally grateful. Gay soldiers are being expelled at an alarming rate. The first day in office, Rahm Emmanuel announced that DADT was off the table for 2009. He has lived up to that "commitment". Given that, I'm sure he's eager to push gay rights in 2010 during an election year.
While a nice speech to a do-nothing organization like HRC is lovely symbolism, President Obama heads a government that openly declares gay men and women "unfit to serve". The Federal government violates states rights and the US Constitution by refusing to recognize state-mandated marriages and allowing states to ignore the Full Faith and Credit Clause of the Constitution, not to mention the Equal Protection under the Law clause of the 14th Amendment. Unless he is as willing to fight for gays as gays were to fight for him, gratitude is far down the list of things owed the President.”

Personally, I'd like nothing more than to see every supporter of the GOP shaved bald and marched down the streets of each town in America, much like the collaborators were treated in Europe at the end of WWII. You know, just as a big "Thank you" for all they've done for our country over the last decade.
And I already believe that the outright sedition spewing from FOX on a daily basis should have prompted the FCC to revoke broadcasting privileges for Murdoch's litte hornet's nest LONG ago.
Of course the President will continue to be vilified no matter what he does. I simply think that now's the time to take it right to the enemy's backyard, if only to preempt any more ridiculous "controversies" from clogging the airwaves.

“Your analogy is premature, if not just shortsighted. Just because you don't see what the president is doing, how his plans are unfolding, doesn't mean that there is anything nearing the courting you're talking about. Yes, it does seem that Obama is forever being kind to the idiot Rethugs, but you must see the bigger picture here. He has gotten EVERYTHING he wanted. The Rethugs try to block him; he's nice to them-they don't vote for what he wants and he gets it anyway, and he also gets to say he tried. He gets true bragging rights and the Rethugs slaves can't say (in good conscience if they actually had one) that he didn't try to get consensus.
I know you want him to be a hard ass and ignore then as a rule, but that's just not the type of person he is, let alone leader. President Obama hasn't done a single thing he didn't tell us during the primaries he would. He never lied. He always said how hard it would be and what steps he would take. He may have had to backtrack or change directions to get something done, but that would happen once you have full knowledge of the the effed up situation the last administration left.
Six months is insufficient for any kind of evaluation. He was elected for a four year term. Judge him at the end of it and you may be surprised at just how much he's accomplished.”

First and foremost, I do not give a rat's ass whether Obama gets what Obama wants. I care about what I want and if Obama cannot deliver than I want him out of office. My vote and my support is not a negotiation give away.
Let's use a basketball analogy, Obama is playing like an overpriced prima donna who is the first year of his new contract - all happy and satisfied with himself and suddenly he forgets what got him his payday. He no longer wants to play defense. Gone are the days when he will scrum on the floor for loose balls. Rebounds - no way. All of a sudden he thinks he's a frickin' three point shooter always standing behind the arc waiting....
Second, he has gone back on his word and campaign promises and he is doing his best BUSH imitation on destruction of civil liberties. As long as the GOP see Obama in capitulation mode they will never be productive or contribute and they will certainly say no. Having spent time in Chicago, you might think Obama would recall Harold Washington and be able to recognize the GOP as Fast Eddie Vrdolyak. There is only one way to deal with this element and it sure ain't pretty. Harold Washington could teach Obama on how he has to deal with these reprobates.”

Money is not an issue when you see the savings that will come from not just ending the wars, but reforming Medicare. You didn't give a crap that we were bleeding billions for a war that should have never happened, so why now, when PEOPLE can be taken care of, is so-called fiscal responsibility all you can think about? “I agree that I also fear that the American people may not be patient enough and watching the pundits and Rethugs in Congress whine everyday would make you even more afraid. But I liked to think that after the horror of the last eight years that the pundits aren't working from the same playbook as we are. We understand that nothing happens overnight anymore. We understand that our President inherited a mess never before experienced in this country. We understand that he is brilliant and thoughtful and ruthless in his organization and that he has a plan to figure this out. We understand that everything he's done so far has put us firmly back on the right path. And finally WE understand what he's up against because we watch the Rethugs and Pundits whine everyday about something.
If it gets on our nerves, can you imagine how he feels?
We have to have faith that in time (it HAS only been seven weeks) things will work out. Already, President Obama's signing of the SCHIP Bill has gotten my god-son healthcare. I think I can and will give him the benefit of the doubt, and about two years, before I let doubt enter my thoughts. I figured that will be enough time to see the economy begin to turn around.
Hell, I've already benefited from something he's done. He's earned my respect and patience.
Hopefully, he has earned your patience too!”

“Thank you so much Osmona. President Obama was elected because he had the capability of doing more than one thing at a time, so how dare the pundits question whether he's taken on too much. Like you said, what choice does he have? And more to the point, all the things he's trying to tackle ALL circle right back into the the primary problem. You cannot fix the economy without fixing healthcare. You cannot fix the economy without addressing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. You cannot fix the economy without focusing on the banking industry. You cannot fix the economy without dealing with the housing crisis. You cannot even begin to ensure this crisis never happens again without dealing with education.
President Obama isn't juggling, but attacking on all fronts, not only because he has too, but because he is the only one in Washington willing, capable, intelligent, and bold enough to do so. The Rethugs think that you should do one thing at a time. None of them could possibly be parents! As a parent, you don't have the luxury of doing one thing at a time, you must deal with everything that comes your way because you know tomorrow will offer up another crisis to deal with. President Obama is charged with the care and comfort of our great nation and I believe that he has everything well under control.
We all must keep the faith!
What choice do we have?”

“Democrats never question whether a person is patriotic or not without hard, damn near absolute proof that they aren't. We realize that it is the height of hypocrisy and idiocy to throw around terms like "unpatriotic" simply because you don't believe as we believe. We are adults and welcome the challenge of debate. We welcome the forum in which our ideals may be challenged and debated and perhaps even enhanced by that exchange. See, we're so sure we're right, we are willing to bathe those ideas in the light of day.
The Rethugs have no ideas that can withstand the light. So, they head for where they are most comfortable; the dark confines of their corrupt souls and strike out in the worst way at anyone pulling them kicking and screaming into the light.
Some of the things Limbaugh and his cohorts have said during the past week amounts to sedition. But my President is strong enough to not only take those blows, but land his punches in the most efficient and effective ways.
Let Limbaugh's Lemmings jump off that cliff. It will simply leave more room for us.”

As far as Republicans go, maybe you are the last conservative because what's currently occupying the halls of Congress is a disgrace. The stimulis may not be perfect, but something had to be done quickly, and I for one am grateful. I work in an industry (healthcare) that was facing a gut of the system, but now will immediately feel the positives from the bill. And while we're on the topic of healthcare, could you please tell me why the Republicans hate children? You may think that's flip, but I can't understand a party that constantly goes for education and healtcare as the first cuts to make when trying to raise money. We have a crisis in this country where our children have old ratty books in crowded classrooms and can't get the preventative healthcare they require because Republicans always cut their funding. The two things that should never be touched, are always the first to go, so I ask you again, why does your party put business above the health and education of children?”
