“Why is it okay for the man who actually did his job, and did it well, to be fired? His job was to save and grow the economy, and he has.
Check out this month's Newsweek magazine for his interview. He's a very smart and capable man. People need to get the politics out of the economic problems and focus on fixing them, not attacking people for doing what they were hired to do. His job is not to create jobs. That's the economic adviser's jobs, not Geitner's.”

“"After the 2003 heatwave in Europe, a team of scientists re-measured the height of Mont Blanc. The team was made up of the glaciologist Luc Moreau, seven expert surveyors, and four mountain guides from Chamonix and Saint-Gervais in France. This team noted that the elevation was 4,808.45 m (15,775 ft 9 in), and the peak was 75 centimetres (30 in) away from where it had been in 2002. After these results were published, more than 500 points were measured, to assess the effects of climate change. From then on the elevation of the mountain has been measured every two years. The interpretation that the heatwave had caused this fluctuation is disputed, because the heatwave is known not to have significantly affected the glaciers above 4,000 m (13,000 ft). The height and position of the summit could have been moved by general glacial forces. At this elevation, the temperatures rarely rise above 0 °C (32 °F). During the summer of 2003, the temperature rose to 2 °C (36 °F), and even 3 °C (37 °F), but this would not have been enough for the ice, which stayed at −15 °C (5.0 °F), to melt. The summit was measured again in 2005, and the results were published on 16 December 2005. The height was found to be 4,808.75 m (15,776 ft 9 in), 30 cm (12 in) MORE than the previous recorded height."

“When I saw the headline, I thought that her complaint was going to be with the special treatment Nebraska gets (and I would agree with her on this).
Should motorcyclists be required to wear helmets? Should drivers be required to wear seat belts?
Who pays for urgent expensive medical care for people (especially young people) who need the care but do not have insurance and cannot afford to pay the tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars required for the treatment? Just deny them the treatment? Make them declare bankruptcy? Is it fair to those who pay for medical treatment? Should drivers be required to carry auto insurance, Senator Snowe?”

“The homeless get extra special attention with special dinners on Thanksgiving and Christmas. I propose that we add another day -- Presidents Day to this extra special meal day for the homeless. (Maybe instead of turkey, it can be a "chicken" day). The weather is still pretty cold and rainy/snowy in February. In addition to the good health hot meal, these meals help the homeless connect with the rest of society and maybe help being them back into society.
