Annoying Facebook Friends: 7 Reasons Why People Don't 'Like' Your Posts

Commented Nov 25, 2012 at 22:41:48 in Technology

“I live in the south so a lot of my fb friends are evangelicals...Ahhh. Spirituality is a very personal thing so it is aggravating to be bombarded by "like if you are a Christian" posts, or bible quotes every day. I find it all a bit obnoxious. I want to ask them keep it where it belongs...between them and God. I have found, however, that there is no group more easily offended than evangelicals, yet they have every right to fill up my fb page.”

“I totally empathize with girl. As a military brat moving every year I went to many schools (including military school) where there weren't girls athletics. Most sports are coed until puberty anyways. If a girl can keep up and add to a team then she should be able to. I was greatful to be able to do that growing up. Sure it was harder to make the team, but that only pushed me to work harder.

The comment made by the forfeiting team has no basis in logic. If the school really wanted to instill a deep respect of women then they should teach their boys to treat girls playing against them the same way as everyone else on the team. They totally mishandled this situation and sent the message that this girl was less than the boys in the eyes of that school. I would never allow my son to be part of a school that has such a naive outlook on women.”

John Yother on May 12, 2012 at 14:56:43

“I agree, I taught my boys to just mow them down. Just like they would if a boy was blocking their path to that base. However, that is not what most teams are teaching. They teach not to hurt her. It's a rough sport, you get bruises and scars from playing. As long as she isn't crying about them being to rough she can play. To quote Tom Hanks "There's no crying in baseball".
But wait, that wasn't the message they sent here. They said they were teaching their young men to respect women. Could it be that they don't want one of those young men to run over a young woman on the field? Could it be that they believe a man should not hurt a woman under any circumstance? How barbaric...”

“These pictures are reprehensible . This same kind of thing continues to persist and really calls into question the values that our military instills in its soldiers. At the same time it was very irreonsible for this newspaper to publish these pics along with everything else that is going on. This editor is as much to blame for the violence and retribution that is sure to happen because of this as the soldiers in the pictures.

How much more proof do we need that violence begets violence. Maybe it is time to try a different tactic.”

Mitt Romney: Mothers Should Be Required To Work Outside Home Or Lose Benefits

“The root of this issue is not really a women's issue. Sure I do think that conservatives have gone completely bonkers with the inability to even understand how offensive their recent stances are against women. Hilary R shouldn't have said what she said, but really how much effort does a mom with nannies, maids, and cooks really do? I would argue that the root of this whole debate is much deeper than these external power plays. What does it say about our society when we value work over family? Does it really make a healthy society when the meaning of one's life is determined by an occupation? Is it true that unless you are being industrious then you are not contributing to society?

Our western cultural mentality is so industrialized that our families even have to be industrious to have any value. We have practically spiritualized money, and in so doing we have lost the value of a quiet, family based, spiritual life. As a stay at home mom we also feel we must add on the disclaimer "and I work really hard". It just seems backwards to me. Maybe if we valued other things besides work so much there wouldn't be so much depression, disease, substance abuse, and kids who have no respect for their parents. The ultimate question should be how can I best be of service to others...not what job and how much money can I make.”

ema123 on Apr 16, 2012 at 11:08:14

“Many have no choice but to work so it isnt an option to stay home. On scandanavian countries mothers get a year off with pay when they have a child to assure bonding, fathers are allowed 6 months of paid leave for the same reason, 90% of employers have daycare on site at thier location, 6 weeks annual vacation and the work week is 36 hours. There is a strong emphasis on family and they have the hihgest ratings for happiness, less depression and a much higher standard of living and longevity and are very industriuos”

“Again this proves how out of touch not only Rush is, but these conservative outlets as a whole. Maybe it is normal for a woman in her fifties or sixties to never have worked a day in her life, but every woman I know in my generation has to work in order to provide for her family. It's almost impossible to run a household now on just one income. I think the norm for most mothers is to take some time off with their children and then go to work. A women is defined by more than her job or being a mother. Rush really just needs to stop talking about women...it's obvious he has no clue.”

Arizona Birth Control Bill Penalizes Women For Using Contraception For Non-Medical Reasons

“This is a great idea, I don't think there is such a thing here in Arkansas though. I've read books about this, but it seems a bit complicated...a class would be great. I agree that it is probably more effective for a woman to trust in her own body over a pill. I still think what is going on in Arizona is absolutely ridiculous. Seriously what decade are we living in? The same people who are against birth control are also against helping single moms, welfare, abortion, and family leave from work. They are very hypocritical. It's like Arizona is living in its own parallel universe”

B. Hold Fox and Rush accountable for slander, libel, and defamation of character in court, not via censorship.
C. Recognize that a significant chunk of our voting public is dumb, hypocritical, immoral, selfish, and makes false use of their religion on a daily basis.”

“I am absolutely shocked by the complete lack of respect, compassion, and human decency displayed by so many in this country. The fact that instead of seeing the beautiful spark of life that we share with every person on this planet people only see an immigration status. We put our concerns for money and racist biases over the well-being of a fellow soul just because he was born on the wrong side of an invisible man-made line. I dream of a world where people have open hearts, and will do everything in their power to help a man live no matter where they are born or whether they can pay for medicine or not.”

“A great article. I started it thinking "who is a man to be involved in women's health issues, but this has totally changed my mind. This article makes some tremendous points, and for the first time in a long time gave me a reason to actually respect men. It is quite a revelation to me to see the depths of which men have recently lost a lot of my respect....the media portrays these nasty old white cronies in power, and then through MTV and alike we see men completely objectifying and sexualizg women calling them b****s and such. I'm so happy to Be reminded that are actually good, reasonable, intelligent men out there.”
