“And why is it exactly Russia should continue their handouts to Ukraine?”

ByronJones on Apr 12, 2014 at 12:48:21

“Maybe the analogy is the dope pusher who gets people hooked on cheap drugs until they are addicted and then the price goes up and in this case, Crimea was confiscated as well.”

Michael Yudanin on Apr 12, 2014 at 11:49:34

“This comment is based on a blatant and rather disgusting lie. Ukraine never received "handouts". Ukraine signed an agreement with Russia that set a certain price for the Russian gas in exchange for a certain price for transferring Russian gas to Europe through Ukrainian territory and hosting a huge Russian naval base in Sevastopol. On any terms, that benefited Russia more than Ukraine.

What we indeed should all do it isolate the aggressor as it was done to Iran. Let Putin wash his face with his precious oil and enjoy the small of his natural gas. Both, by the way, are pumped from Siberia that gets little in return.”

cromanelli on Apr 12, 2014 at 11:19:54

“It isn't clear from this article. was ukraine receiving a handout? did russia raise the cost for gas that ukraine pays? was that unexpected? if russian gas has to pass through ukrainian territory, wouldn't it be expected that ukraine would get transfer fees for using their land? did russia go against or change their part of the agreement?”

“Day of public shame for this country. Public shame for queer community and defenders of gay rights. Censure, more division, "enemies of the nation", what's next? Should all who oppose gay marriage now lose their jobs? This is sheer mass insanity. Witchhunt on opponents of gay marriage? Westborough church 2.0? We have to be thankful to this guy form the bottom of our hearts for everything he has done for internet community. Instead, he is forced to resign, because of the sheer bigotry, which is even more disgusting when comes from those who just recently were the subject of similar treatment themselves.

"Public trial" of Mozilla CEO's for his personal views? Everything else is already fine in this country, only those not in favor of gay marriage are the culprit of social issues? Causing hunger, lack of healthcare, shortage of shelters perhaps? Is it because of Mozilla's CEO personal views we have 52% of national budget going to military complex, is it because of someone's personal disliking of gay marriage we're on a verge of WWIII and/or climate extinction? This story with Eich's resignation is disgusting in some very Orvellian way.”

JShankel on Apr 3, 2014 at 17:43:42

“No, those who support gay marriage choose to spend their money supporting companies that agree with them.

That is called "freedom." The people, freely, chose not to give their money to someone who represents beliefs they don't like.

Everyone got to be free here. He got to be free to say what he wanted to say. The people got to be free to choose whether or not they wanted to give their money, which is theirs to give, to his company.

That is the exact opposite of Orwell. If this was Orwell, the government would simply tell you what you are allowed to believe and who you are allowed to support.”

Protestors were in Occupy camps. These are armed "revolutionary" bandits alike those in Egypt, Libya and Syria.
Another US-inspired full-blown "spring", now in Ukraine, with unknown number of dead and injured, destroyed infrastructure and non-functioning police. People are told to stay home. Center of the capital downtown is on fire, throughout the country "revolutionary" gangs are arming themselves by looting military depots. Reports of gangs "checkpoints" on the roads, where speaking Russian could mean death sentence. People are reporting assaults and robberies everywhere on capital streets. It's a fire of war which has been set in the heart of Europe and directly on Russian border.”

“It's another "spring" with a purpose to make Ukraine a NATO-friendly territory. New american military bases, new prisons for secret renditions.
That's all that Romania and Bulgaria got after their "association" with EU.
Poland already says, Ukraine should stop industrial production and adjust consumer prices after association: more jobless, more freezing elderly at winter, more hungry, but yes, more american military bases in the world.”

“Where are you getting your info from? Russian newspapers? Which sane country would dare to even suggest to the another to STOP industrial production?!
As for consumer prices... Both IMF and EU (not Poland) talk about necessity of a rise of domestic and industrial gas prices in Ukraine simply because Ukraine imports gas from Russia at a price of USD 416 per thousand cubic metres (tcm).
Gas is than sold within Ukraine for a much lower price: Households pay as little as 83 USD/tcm and heating companies pay only 136 USD/tcm.

You see the problem?
