“I am pretty much the same way, but sometimes I have to bite the bullet and let go of some things. I don't think getting rid of winter gear is a good idea. Winter happens yearly, so why not reuse the stuff?? I have a wedding dress from a previous marriage. I had planned to sell it, but now I think I will just donate it. I got rid of prom dresses a long time ago. But anyway, I'm like you. What I have, I use. I have "formal" attire that I spent a lot of money on that I plan to keep for future use. Once something doesn't fit, I donate it or throw it away.”

“My boss speaks in phrases and doesn't have a clear grasp of English grammar...I realized a long time ago that "formal emails" don't exist. Her "please" is simply "pls." Her "thank you" is simply "thx." Most of the time, she doesn't sign off at the bottom. She will put her sentence in the title instead of in the body of the email. I have a hard time discerning what she is trying to tell me.”

“I served in the Navy and only got close to danger when we went to fish Captain Philips out of the water, back in 2009. Nonetheless, if I saw a shipmate who went UA, they were no better than the scum of the earth. There were a few people at my command who felt that their time in the Navy wasn't worth it. They put the rest of us at risk. Whenever someone popped for drugs, went U/A, or even got pregnant for the sake of missing deployment, the burden was on the rest of us. Our manpower was reduced, which meant more work for the rest of us. Watchbills were smaller. Hours got longer. I have no respect for anyone who shirks his duties. That's what the General Orders are about! That's what the UCMJ is about. You don't abandon your post! You are a sailor 24/7, on base and off. NO exceptions.”

“VA isn't half bad. I was stationed there while in the Navy. I wouldn't mind going back if it weren't for the fact that my husband got a DUI there and since we moved, the stipulations of his driving restrictions have gotten a bit blurry, since he had an out of state license and would have to take some kind of driving improvement course in the VA before he could be allowed to drive there again. VA is ruthless about DUI's, which is great, but now we can't ever live there again.”

“I don't understand how people can be so cruel. Even bullying a person in the real world is awful. I just don't get how people find it ok to be nasty to others. I think it's sad that this young lady found the only escape from bullying was to kill herself. We should teach our children to grow a thicker skin and learn to deal with bullies. We should also try to end bullying, of course. I'm not saying that bullying is ok at all. I was bullied as a kid and I grew up rather miserable because of it. Bullying comes from insecure people who are jealous of the targeted person, for one reason or another. I find, when I am jealous of someone, I internalize it. I don't care for confrontation and you never know what the other person may do if you start outwardly taunting them. Besides, it's horribly mean. Everyone is guilty of judging. Go ahead and chastise me for being human. Sorry that I judge others.”

“Genuine displays of chivalry are not done these days. If your motives were really not sex-driven, then kudos to you. The media makes women objects to be pursued and concured, with no regard for their humanity.”

kd5jos on May 29, 2014 at 13:09:45

“And here's why,

I opened a door for a lady walking up to a restaurant. It was raining and the lobby was full of patrons. My only concern was helping her get in the building. Period. As she approached she began berating me in front of everyone. She explained how my display of kindness was patronizing and insulting, she was not "the waker sex" because she was female. Oddly enough as she turned to walk in the building, my fingers slipped from the door, and she walked into it. My statement, "you're right, open it your damn self." The people in the restaurant... cheered.

Crappy attitudes like yours leave those of us that actually give a damn, insulted, berated, and angry for caring.”

“the media also portrays men as sex crazed dogs to the point where if a man does something nice for a woman its just assumed he's trying to get some. such as for instance saying something like "if your motives were really not sex-driven then kudos to you". Heaven forbid a man gets accused of sexual assault, its automatically assumed he's guilty, even if he does get proven innocent. Dont get me wrong, im not saying your comment is without merit, only a fool would think that. Im just saying that it works both ways.”

“It's people like this that make responsible gun owners look bad. I am talking about Joe the Plumber. The kid had mental issues that someone should have noticed a LONG time ago. The parents seemed to be mostly absent from his life so they were not aware of his issues. I think owning guns for hunting is ok and having them to protect your home is ok, too. I am not comfortable with those guys with "teeny weeny" syndrome, walking around with a semi-automatic rifle. That's nonsensical. It's just too bad that this is happening so often now--that it's happening at all. This is what happens when you deinstitutionalize mental health hospitals. This kid is a product of absentee parenting as well.”

I try to ignore it or hold it in until the urge goes away, but there are times when it's simply unavoidable. I just hope and pray that the bathroom is empty when I go in there. My luck is that five people decide to go in there right as I have to do my business...It's terribly embarrassing. I hate it.”
