“I completely disagree. My rabbit is litter box trained (like a cat) and he has free range over the house. He does not chew on furniture or wires (although if you leave a notebook on the coffee table, he will go-to-town). He naps on the couch and gets along great with my father in law's black lab when they visit. My rabbit likes raisins as treats and sitting in your lap for snuggling. Great pets!”

Mitchell Wilson Suicide: Boy's Death Raises Bullying Concerns

Commented Sep 29, 2011 at 15:43:58 in Canada

“This is very disturbing. Where are the teachers in all of this? There are far too many stories about bullying occurring in schools and not enough adults stepping in to serve as protector and enforcer. When parents send their children to school, they trust that the adults who work at those schools will do everything and anything to protect their students first and foremost. I realize rotten kids will do things behind teachers' backs, but there are signs and subtle things that you can pick up on. What a tragedy.”

livingdangerously on Sep 29, 2011 at 16:26:55

“Do you realize the situation most teachers are put in? I've seen at least 2 teachers sustain chronic injury while trying to break up a student fight. Additionally, teachers are not authorized to act as protector and enforcer. That's LE's job. Teachers are there to TEACH THE MATERIAL.

If you want more protection for your children, then lobby for training, wages and benefits for additional LE”

Will Arnett In 'Up All Night': Star Grows Up, Sort Of

Commented Sep 29, 2011 at 12:59:59 in Entertainment

“I really really like Will Arnett and hands down believe his best role was Gob Bluth on Arrested Development (if you haven't seen it, it's worth it). From the comments below, Huff. readers seem like a tough crowd, but I actually think Up All Night is hilarious and certainly addresses the awkward and unglamorous transition from a childless could into a family. There is a lot of garbage on tv right now so it's refreshing to see a tv couple poke fun at the balancing act of work and family. I'm happy that this show doesn't leave me feeling depressed about married life (like "The Middle" or "Something About Raymond" > Nothing is more depressing than watching a "comedy" where the wife emasculates her husband as the plot of the show...).”

“I agree that it depends on the industry, in this case Sam's Club and the like. In many other industries people are finding the opposite thing to be true: If you want to keep your job, you'd better not even think about using that vacation time... and you'd better be willing to work 55 or 60 hours, even though you are getting paid for 40. And so the cycle goes....”

Cassandra45 on Sep 26, 2011 at 15:58:43

“SO true. I have 2 weeks vacation accrued and am afraid to take even one week lest I come back and find out they've decided they could use that $23,000 a year they pay me for a nice vacation in the Caribbean or something. And no, I'm not being paranoid, I've had 5 jobs in the last ten years and lost 4 of them to the economy, and the last one happened right after I returned from 9 days vacation.”

“Is this a surprise to anyone? If companies had the option of hiring 20 part timers or 10 full timers, they'd obviously pick the one where they didn't have to give people benefits or vacation time. This is how American companies keep the average person scared and stagnant...”

“That's true to a degree, but 10 full time workers will usually be a better quality employee than 20 partime. They will have more training, more experience and more loyalty to the company. So it just depends on the industry and long term objectives.”

“I am a pescetarian and my boyfriend/cohabitant eats red meat and chicken (but really dislikes seafood). We compromise by preparing our proteins separately and sharing the same veggies/carbs. Most of the time we season our food similarly so that we can share the same sauces/gravies. Works for us and neither one of us has to change our preferences. Seems straight forward to me... this article is really speaking more about common sense than anything else. Silly.”

“I was thinking the same thing, as far as women being represented in television. I read an article the other day that pointed out there are more women protagonists on television right now than ever before. Bones, Whitney, 2 Broke Girls, Unforgettable.. there are also 1-2 cop shows starring women (talk about unconventional) this fall. All of those protagonists are different, show different layers of what it is like to be a woman. Before you write an article like this, please do research. You look like a fool.”

“What does that matter if Congress threatens to shutdown on the 8th, 17th and 24th of every month? Government is inefficient.. change isn't going to happen unless our country is united... and it's not (never was). The good news is that we are as doomed as we have always been... and I cracked myself up for typing "ends meat." Bahahaha.”

“It does sort of end meat, doesn't it? And yes, it's easy to be discouraged by what is going on in our government. I often wonder if democracy can work. But what brought us a middle class in the first place was workers getting together, going on strikes, and refusing to stop trying. We still have to do that. Giving up is giving in.”

“I am glad at least 1 news source is talking about how the economy is crushing 20 & 30-somethings. In my own family I have 1 brother who is unemployed and has tons of student loans. My mom (a baby boomer and single parent of 3-- who put all of us through college) has parent loans and a retirement in serious jeopardy. I am 25, underemployed, with loans, but am thankful to have a check at all. It makes me sick to think that I will may never be able to buy a home, or a car, or pay off my loans, OR DO ANY OF THE THINGS THAT EVERY GENERATION BEFORE ME HAD A "FAIR" SHOT AT DOING. And what makes me the most sick about all of this is that it doesn't matter who wins the next election. The NOT-best-kept-secret-of-all-time is that when the TVs are off and the media is busy covering Hollywood bullsh** Republicans and Democrats, alike, are shaking each others' hands and cutting deals behind our back. YOU ARE A FOOL if you think otherwise.

The "American Dream" for the graduating classes of 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 is/are CANCELLED. Sincerely, A Gen-Y Person who actually reads the news, who is going to night school and making ends meat, who does NOT watch the Jersey Shore and who does NOT own a twitter account....”

“When I graduated from college, the country was in a recession and I couldn't get a job. I could type and found work, definitely underemployed, as a secretary. It took a few years, but the recession was finally over (Reaganomics saved the day) and I was able to get a great job, great pay, great bennies. There IS light at the end of the tunnel, my friend...just hold on a little longer, November, 2012 is just around the corner. Whatever you do, don't give up! Keep that job and live modestly for a bit longer....it WILL get better once we clear the lunatics out of DC! Good luck.”

“I'm sorry for your situation and for the fact that you young people are not being given a chance. I disagree, however, that it doesn't matter who runs the country. Most of the Democrats at least recognize that as a nation we won't do well without a strong middle class, whereas the Republicans only want to serve the wealthy, and their policies of the last 30 years have all been directed toward that goal.”

“that's odd I am a registered democrat who is tired of the rhetoric. I did not elect a president to pass wind without substance. The moment the other side submits a plan, he is talking veto before the news media has had a chance to present it to the public. I thought he would be the type of person who would take an idea and modify it through compromise in the best interest of the American taxpayer. What we currently have from both sides is party politics for election purposes. Obviously you agree with his spending without concern for the massive levels of debt. What you are is a lemming and will follow him right off the cliff. Go for it!!”
