“Sad to say I live in this senate district. He also was my council member from 2002-2003 before redistricting. The State Senate district is larger and is quite multiethnic. Many Latino's along with older white ethnics. Many older "Archie Bunker" types have moved or died off and the African-American population has dropped off in other parts of the district replaced by South Americans and some South Asians. His core group of support came from Dominican's and other Latino's. It also has the largest gay population ouside of Manhattan. Oddly enough the city council district (Jackson Hgts, Elmhurst) within this state senate district did elect the 1st openly Gay council member from Queens. Same goes for the adjacent city council district (Woodside, Sunnyside, LIC)”
