On the one hand, I'm disgusted at the whitewashing of the poster. It's basically saying that Blacks don't even factor in as their target demographic and they don't want to offend racists who won't want to watch a film with a Black couple in it.

On the other hand, I'm so tired of seeing negative, stereotypical, embarrassing, neo-minstrel, racist tropes trotted out time after time, so part of me is glad they omitted the obese, slovenly, inarticulate, bumbling, crass, unrefined and ridiculous Black man (House of Payne, etc).

For starters, marriage started off as a way to unite tribes and pool their resources or to bring peace between warring tribes.
Polygamy was a common practice amongst wealthy or powerful men who married multiple wives as well as kings marrying multiple women in order to unite their kingdoms under his rule.

See Abraham, David or King Solomon and his 700 hundred wives and 300 concubines, for you religious people.

Marriage is a social custom of convenience and mutual benefit between consenting parties, and not a religious sacrament. In many countries, polygamy is still practiced to this day.

Gay marriage was also practiced in ancient Greece and Romel.

The entire point of the public option is to take advantage of the economies of scale facto when purchasing group health insurance.

If you pool together the monies collected from all the eligible people paying into the system plus government subsidies for those that can't you'll have massive numbers of insurance buyers and get a gigantic volume discount.

If you divide that by 50 states, and you get 1/50th the buying power and 1/50th as good a deal. And some states have such small populations that the math doesn't work, so they'd get no public option at all.

Additionally, they'd lose the premiums rate drop from people receiving low cost preventative and primary care rather than expensive critical/acute care during emergency room visits.

This entire debate is silly.

Medicare is going broke because of waste, abuse and fraud and can't be sustained at it's current rate in it's current form. It MUST be reformed.

Standard health care insurance is exorbitantly priced, getting more expensive by the year and killing hundreds of thousands of people yearly due to denial of care/coverage in order to boost profits, so it must be reformed as well.

Not reforming them is not an option. As a nation, we have no choice but to put out the fire or watch the entire house be consumed.”
