Kansas Abortion Bill Passes House, Sent To Governor For Signature

Kansas Abortion Bill Passes House, Sent To Governor For Signature

Commented Apr 6, 2013 at 15:17:07 in Politics

“A one day, one week, one month, or one year old helpless baby can't "live on its own without the help of a mother" (or other caregiver) either. Can we kill them, too? If one of these were in jeopardy of being killed, or even a 100 yr. old woman who is being attacked by a murderer, I'd hope someone would feel they would want to help "control (the attacks of) others" on the innocent. I'm glad there are people out there willing to stick their necks out and be the good samaritans to help those that cannot help themselves. It's compassion!”

“You are very right...many (or even most) Catholics don't agree with God and His Bible. But for those of us (Bible-believing employers) that do, we shouldn't have to choose between sinning and obeying the law. We are not asking that the access be denied (nor is that even in question or in jeopardy), just our funding of it.”

Hiker54 on Apr 7, 2013 at 01:24:13

“You are not funding it unless you are self insured.

And if you leave it up to the insurance companies, they will probably agree to fund it themselves. It saves them millions in future medical expenditures.”

"we shouldn't have to choose between sinning and obeying the law" - you aren't being asked to. Your belief system should not deny health care to others.”

“You are right. It doesn't matter what you think. It doesn't matter what I think. It matters what GOD thinks...and SAYS in His Bible. This is then forcing employers to PAY for the birth control. This would therefore be a sin in the eyes of anyone that believes the Bible (mainly evangelical Christians and Catholic "higher-ups"). Therefore this part of Obamacare is forcing people to choose between sinning and obeying the gov't law. Normally, the Bible says to give to Caesar what is Caesar's. The only exception is if it contradicts God's law first. This does!”

“Wish we did live in a country that fights for the rights of ALL. Right now our US gov't is trying to deport a loving family who wants to homeschool their children. The German gov't will take their children if they go back and don't hand them over to the public school system. We are ALL here because some brave pilgims came to establish religious freedom for all. Now our US is sending these "pilgrims" back on their "Mayflowery" way. Reguardless of where we are, we need to remember where we came from! HSLDA is trying to fight for their religious asylum, because as you said, "Everyone deserves the chance to have their own chance at happiness" in this case...regardless of religious orientation. Funny how the media is all over this article, but no one cares to cover a conservative Christian family who is definitely NOT in the majority.”

Alix M on Mar 23, 2013 at 13:33:01

“3. Gay rights is a huge issue right now; it's a pivotal turning point for the US to further its stance on equality for all, just as women's rights was a huge, media-centered issue from the late 1840s to the 1900s. The media is covering the issue of gay rights because it will affect an entire (minority of) people and is a controversial subject. A story about a conservative Christian family (which is, in fact, a pretty nice chunk of the population and not a minority) may be touching, but is not at the heart of any deep-rooted problems today.

I really do wish you/your friends the best of luck with their future, but an online newspaper article about gay rights is not the place to air your displeasure over your deportation worry - especially when you are commenting on my pride in the advances for gay marriage rather than on an article about the pros and cons of deportation.

Thank you for your story, but please don't bring down my happiness over one issue with your displeasure over another.”

Alix M on Mar 23, 2013 at 13:32:50

“I do apologize that you/someone you know is going through a hard time right now. To address your points:

1. The US allows parents to homeschool their children until college if they so wish, and would not deport anyone for making that choice; I know I don't know you/your friends or the details of the situation you're referencing, but I do know that there must be an underlying cause (other than educational choices) that you need to discuss with the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

2. We do all remember where we came from, and I absolutely believe everyone deserves to be happy no matter their religion (or lack thereof). But, once again, the US does not deport anyone - citizen or not - for religious reasons; deportation is reserved for those who are not citizens. Deportation itself is a very controversial issue, and it is in everyone's best interests if we don't muddy the water by claiming that religious persecution plays a role. (Continued on next reply)”

“They say it's the mold that grows on the peanuts that people are actually allergic to. And yes, you don't have to be a germaphobe or unhealthy to get allergies. More people are leaning toward overused antibiotics and processed foods as the reason our immune systems are wiped out and they aren't functioning properly. But if one researches even the "healthy" foods, they aren't the same as they were 20yrs. ago. A genetically modified tomato just looks like a tomato. Eggs are produced by chickens that are jammed into cages and never see the sun, never walk. And the chickens for meat are now being bred to be featherless or so breast-heavy that they can't stand up anyway. Why? We want cheap food. Well, we have it, and all the problems associated. If you are out of the USA, you have a better chance of having more regulations. Many other countries have bans or at least warning lables on their foods. (soy warning, not to give to children under 3...rBST milk is banned) People in the USA have to be educated. (Oh, and the 50-60 vaccines (many being combo vacc.) a child is recommended to get by age 2yrs. can't help either.)”

abourge458 on Mar 18, 2013 at 19:59:28

“Actually, the mold you speak of can cause poisoning, but in a true allergy, it's a histamine reaction to a protein in peanuts ( which are not the same as tree nuts, but tree nuts have a very similar protein to peanuts that also causes that histamine problem.)”

“My husband's saying is, "If you have 12 people in a room, you are going to have 13 different opinions." :) The Bible says it's a waste of time to argue with the foolish. And I was just reading in my Bible this morning (Romans 2) how God wrote good vs. evil/ right vs. wrong on the hearts of every human. He says even the Gentiles which have not the law, do according to the law. Deep down we all know what is right and wrong. But reguardless of this, the Bible says that "No greater love hath man, that he lay down his life for (another)". So God's true definition of Love is pointing to those women that choose their baby's life over their own desires. Call me wrong, call me names, give exceptions...those are the still the ones we can all call our true heros!”

Teenage girls are desparate for proper affection, but will mistake improper affection because of their immaturaty. If they are getting good 'ol fashion hugs from Dad, research says they won't go looking elsewhere. Dads tend to shy away from affection once a girl hits puberty, but it's not abuse to hug your daughter...and THAT is what girls want!”

Why I Bought Boys' Underwear For My Daughter

Either these people are crazy and have no grasp on what the Bible teaches or something fishy is up to purposely make Christians look bad. Either way, they are NOT Christians. Can't use the Bible like a menu. The Bible is very clear that Satan is at the root of evil. God is Love! I don't know why he "allowed" this to happen. "His ways are not our ways." But He didn't MAKE this happen. And I like to believe that he saved 650 other people that day!”

Evidence Suggests Noah's Ark Flood Existed, Says Robert Ballard, Archaeologist Who Found Titanic

Commented Dec 14, 2012 at 22:54:12 in Religion

“I had thought this for a while, too.  But then I learned how scientifically, the Big Bang can't got with Creation.  It's pretty interesting, but I'll share just one.  Evolution (Big Bang) belief is that life evolved over millions/billions of years. The Bible says (in the first chapter of Genesis) that it was created in 6 days (7th day was rest).  Well, the plants were created on the 3rd day.  However the sun was not created until the 4th day. (Do you see it, yet?)  Now, if Creation and the Bible were true (ALL of it) than surely scientifically, plants could survive 24 hours without the sun.  However if we combined evolution and the Bible and each day represented millions of years (even though God clearly says the morning and the evening were the first day, the morning and the evening were the second day, etc.), then how did the plants survive without the sun for millions of years?  Clearly photosynthesis could not occur.  Neat, huh?  Then the same with the salt in the ocean...millions of years would make it so that there would be so much more salt.  Same with silt on the moon, the milky way wouldn't be visible, etc., etc.  (okay so I got carried away and named a bit more.) :)  It's fun to study science and see how God's Word is true from beginning to end without needing any "help" from us. :)”

Guess I was in the minority of those that thought that it was perverted. Who makes this stuff? Doesn't anyone else sense that our daughters are being "groomed" on how to dress...or UNdress. But I still can't get over the thought that even if my daughter was super okay with her body at 13. If this didn't make her sad at the thought of how women are demoralized, and that she'd go as far as laughing at the card, then I've failed as a mom.”
