Army General Backs Off: No Court Martial For Pregnancy
Commented Dec 23, 2009 at 04:06:37 in Politics
“Why am I not surprised. I've been in the Military on active duty. I'm a veteran. I've gotten "Article 15"--what this general is calling "lesser disciplinary action". Regarding punishment, the Military is all politics. That's the only reason why this general is backing down--public pressure.
But the whole thing is silly in the first place--why would you punish a woman for getting pregnant? I assume it's meant to prevent other female soldiers from doing the same; because it prevents one from doing her duty as a soldier, and because it costs the Army money. But it's not like they are going to sterilize women who enlist.”

Feminomics: Women and Bankruptcy
Commented Dec 20, 2009 at 15:44:41 in Business
“Women may have a slight disadvantage due to earning less than men, but the solution to this problem is not going to be making different bankruptcy statutes for women. We need to regulate the credit industry and abolish credit ratings. Also, the current bankruptcy laws for chp. 7 are archaic. Go back to good old collateral lending and reforming the bankruptcy laws so that the little guy has a chance to get out of debt.”
gracie99 replied on Dec 21, 2009 at 04:27:53
“Earning 77% of what men earn (as of 2008) is more than a "slight disadvanta ge."
In addition, I've never known a man to be raising children alone and unable to collect child support regularly, but that situation seems to be very common among women -- and that is an great financial burden for all but the wealthiest women.”

“All the while Bush was in office driving up the national debt the teabaggers were silent. In fact, they were quick to cry treason when people questioned Bush's motivations for the second Iraq war. The national debt increased from 5.6 trillion in 2000 to 10 trillion in 2008. Where were the teabaggers then? Now that we have a president who wants to do something for the little guy--like giving him health insurance--the teabaggers are all up in arms. That's why I don't take the movement seriously. It's simply a political movement aimed at electing a Republican in 2012.”

Now conservatives are trying to lump democrats in with the out of control spending for the war, when the rhetoric back then was, if you didn't vote for the war spending, then you didn't support the troops.
So it was only a matter of time before this happened:
"After years of criticizing Democrats for not supporting the troops, just three Republicans supported the military funding."
