Army General Backs Off: No Court Martial For Pregnancy
Commented Dec 23, 2009 at 04:06:37 in Politics
“Why am I not surprised. I've been in the Military on active duty. I'm a veteran. I've gotten "Article 15"--what this general is calling "lesser disciplinary action". Regarding punishment, the Military is all politics. That's the only reason why this general is backing down--public pressure.
But the whole thing is silly in the first place--why would you punish a woman for getting pregnant? I assume it's meant to prevent other female soldiers from doing the same; because it prevents one from doing her duty as a soldier, and because it costs the Army money. But it's not like they are going to sterilize women who enlist.”

Austintatious replied on Dec 12, 2009 at 11:06:50
“Sir, it shouldn't take the opinions of an economist or a law professor to know that America's middle class has been under attack for a couplkf of decades, and that its destruction is largely complete. Either one acknowledges the blatantly obvious, or one continues to believe in the "trickle down" hooey that we've been fed for so long.
Our middle class is being compromised, wiped out, at an alarmingly rapid rate, largely started by none other than Bill Clinton and a few of his big business oriented Republican accomplices. The process was dramatically accelerated by the Bush/Cheney regime.
The coup de grace, and a real surprise to so many average Americans, has been the financial and economic policies of one Barack Obama. Brother Obama turns out to be big business' best friend and the middle class' worst enemy. This President's policies, as they relate to the middle class, is synonamous to Sherman's march to the sea, as it related to the old south. In other words, it may be the final nail in the coffin of the relative properity of America's middle class.
By the way, this disastrous phenomenon is, in very large part, the work product of some of those folks with degress in economics you hold in such high esteem.”
